Alexis Sanchez is expected to shrug off a minor hamstring niggle for Arsenal’s trip to Norwich. Daniel Sturridge is set for scans after picking up a foot problem in training, Roberto Martinez will make a late call on Leighton Baines’ availability, whilst Stoke have concerns over Phillip Wollscheid for the trip to Sunderland.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that Alexis Sanchez had “a little hamstring alarm” but went on to concede “”it might not be the best moment to rest Alexis” for the trip to Norwich. Joel Campbell will also be assessed after picking up a minor calf complaint in the 3-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain “should” be available for the Gunners, having returned to training following his hamstring injury, though Theo Walcott remains sidelined.

Daniel Sturridge is feared to have picked up another injury ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Bordeaux last night. The forward is now set for scans on a foot problem sustained during training. Martin Skrtel recovered from illness and was an unused sub in the 2-1 win at Anfield.

Jores Okore is available again after recovering from a knee injury, but Remi Garde has left Jack Grealish out of the squad to face Watford after the midfielder was seen partying just hours after the heavy 4-0 defeat to Everton. Gabriel Agbonlahor is still a doubt for the Villans with a calf complaint.

Watford will once again be without Sebastian Prodl for the trip to Villa Park, with the defender nursing a calf injury. Midfielder Valon Behrami may be able to play some part though, with the Swiss international back in training after a kick to the knee before last weekend’s clash against Man United.

Phil Jones and Ander Herrera are still sidelined for Man United’s clash with Leicester, Louis van Gaal confirmed earlier this morning.

Roberto Martinez will decide later today whether to include Leighton Baines in the Everton squad for the trip to Bournemouth. The left-back has yet to figure this season having undergone ankle surgery during the summer.

Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks after undergoing surgery to try and cure his longstanding foot issues. Graziano Pelle is suspended for the trip to the Etihad this weekend, with Shane Long expected to take the Italian’s place in attack.

Sam Allardyce is hopeful that both Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini will be fit to face Stoke, with the former expected to keep his place in the starting XI after scoring the winner at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Philipp Wollscheid is an injury concern for Stoke ahead of their trip to the Stadium of Light, with the German centre-back unable to train yesterday because of a pelvis injury. Geoff Cameron is on standby for the Potters.

Jamie Vardy is fit for Leicester ahead of the huge home encounter against Man United. The England international will be attempting to set a new Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches.

West Ham’s Pedro Obiang has recovered from a thigh injury, and could replace the suspended Mark Noble in midfield against West Brom on Sunday. Alex Song made his comeback from injury against Tottenham though, and could get the nod ahead of the former Sampdoria midfielder in the middle of the park.

Norwich captain Russell Martin will return to the squad for the visit of Arsenal after missing last week’s loss at Chelsea due to personal reasons. Midfielder Alex Tettey misses out once again, though, with the Norway international carrying a thigh injury.

Really don't see why Kolarov won't play but even if he doesn't Jones 0 is better than Francis -1. I'd personally swap your sub order above to Westwood Francis Jones and ride your luck rather than take a -4 gambling on clean sheet net gain of 2

Re the Hot Topics / Hulking Hot Topic -

The fact that I have to post this here rather than on the old post proves my point by the way...

The system doesn't really work at the moment...

    - Hulking is useful as a very short term way of highlighting an important post, if you happen to be on the article at the time, but then its gone - very few people sort by "Sticky" - I bet 99% sort by date

    - Hot Topics is a bit better but only a few stay there long enough at busy times

IMO the Hot Topics need to be spat out into a forum of sorts where they automatically become a thread for viewing / discussion

I get the impression that when Homecrowd was first conceived, it was assumed that most people would start to sort by sticky / discussion rating - or that this would become the default, but in practice pretty much everyone still wanted to sort by date, like a timeline of posts, rather than see the "best" ones at the top - so the idea was largely rendered ineffective

    I think I've cracked it:

Kolarov+Pelle>Moreno+Kane. I have the exact funds.

    Myhill
    KOLAROV Bellerin Nyom (Simpson Saylor)
    Sanchez Sterling Mata Mahrez (Westwood)
    PELLE Aguero Vardy

Kolarov has to go at some point as Clichy started in the week. I might as well do it this week, rather than play Simpson. Will he haul this weekend though?!!

Thanks guys. Been messing about considering Tekkers for free, but will only want to move him on before long, and if he's benched it'll be a disaster. Also don't want to sell Sterling or Mata to fund Kane. It has to be Kolarov.

Basically its Kolarov +Simpson vs Moreno + Kane -4 so must be a chance of at least breaking even!

Unless there is a better 4.9 than Moreno. Shawcross maybe??

I think him and Smalling would complement each other rather well. Put Shaw in at LB (who i think is spectacular) and Clyne at RB and we've got ourselves a decent defence.

In FPL or real life? In FPL, I'm not sold on our defence as a unit, I don't trust Howard at all and we're always liable to concede even in the easiest games. In real terms, he's fantastic. His composure and ability on and off the ball are phenomenal, he's a Rio Ferdinand type, excellent positional awareness and a calmness that belies his years.

Decent but the English media is rushing him into becoming great. Anyone remembers Jones when he was 19 at Blackburn? He's not world class at all. I'm pretty sure Barcelona's got 5 of similary good youngsters in their ranks, but aren't rushing anyone anywhere and they'll be the ones we'll call world class in a couple of years.

If they've got 5 just as good you'd wonder why they are having him watched for every Everton game at the moment when his price is approx £40m

Maybe it was a bad example as Barcelona aren't really famous for their defenders. But I so think Stones is being overrushed which may result in him collapsing under pressure.

He's certainly not world class yet, but he is a fantastic prospect, and is already a very, very good defender (better than Jones is or ever was). Jones just had a few games where he went on rampaging, head down runs. Stones has been a very good top flight defender for a couple of years now.

Doos, don't overplay the significance of a 19 year old on the periphery of last season's squad. I trust Koeman's judgement and he clearly doesn't think he's ready for regular first team football - hence why Romeu was purchased.

Simultaneously, people shouldn't get carried away by Schneiderlin's influence at Saints last season. He was great but he didn't win matches single handedly.

Really? Everyone on here is highly critical of Rooney (rightly so), I think the large Utd following is balanced out by the large number of people that hate Utd.

I'm neither a Utd fan nor do I hate them, but I think Schneiderlin is an excellent player, and I don't understand at all why Arsenal didn't go for him.

Clasie hasn't been back long and still doesn't consider himself fully fit. I should imagine you'll be in a similar boat with Song. Our RB spot is still a bit weird - Cedric is inconsistent but adapting. We'll improve by mid-season 🙂

exactly. When Clasie is fully fit the defence will definitely improve. He's a better player than Scneiderlin

I love Schneiderlin - has really helped at United. Like you say - not single handedly doing it (Smalling and De Gea are helping too), but I have no doubts that Schneiderlin is doing his part.

He could do so much more for you if you didn't play such dull football. DDG-Smalling-Schneiderlin is a good enough spine to play expansive football.

Not really. People give LVG less credit than he deserves. He was left with an absolute pile of nothing and he's given us a lot more stability. We were conceding goals left right and centre under Moyes and are currently, arguably, the most difficult team in the league to beat. He has cleared a lot of deadwood and bought really well to make us a stable team which isn't great to watch i agree.

Our football is improving but with Depay taking his time to blend in, Martial being a 19 year old and Rooney being dead, he is using what he has got and United are in a great position in the league at the moment.

A half decent winger like Sadio gives us enough pace to stick around in the top 2-3 this season.

We're keeping cleanies left right and centre with a make-shift CB (i think Blind at CB is a brilliant, brilliant move). He carries the ball so easily into midfield. We've lost the best LB in the league (arguably) and we have Young and Darmian playing at RB.

We aren't reliant on the defenders as much as we're reliant on the system.

                I'd call that good management.

But why is he carrying him!? I've heard this used as a pro-LVG point - he's carrying Rooney - but he picks the team! If a player is absolute garbage, don't carry them, drop them!

I don't think the decision is up to him tbh. Too many higher ups on the board see Rooney as some sort of bizarre legacy, and someone mentioned earlier in the week they thought there was a stipulation about playing time in the ludicrous contract he signed.

RVP, a friend of LVG's, was turfed out of the team. I have no doubt if it was just an LVG based decision he'd have him out. You can see it even with some of the old boys, Scholes saying the problem isn't Rooney but other players etc.

Ok so a question I imagine a lot of people are thinking about at the moment.

If you have Vardy and Marhez should you start your United defence? For me I have Rojo and the options I have are play Richards, Huth or Rojo

    1. Rojo - On paper the best defender but with Marhez and Vardy in my team starting Rojo would be like spreading the risk and thats assuming if Marhez and Vardy blank so do Leicester. Blank is not something Leicester do

    2. Huth - All eggs in one basket and hoping for a Leicester cleanie making with the boys to score well. Only 2 cleanies all season

    3. Richards - Benching both Huth and Rojo would mean backing my Leicester boys and hoping for Villa upturn in form (Kinda) to continue with a home clean sheet and a Richards goal 🙂

Right now I think its 2 or 3 for me. Am I crazy?

I'm in a similar position, have Smalling Rojo and Mahrez

Even as a Utd fan I can't see us keeping a clean sheet this week... but I do think we'll win.

I'm playing Moreno, Smalling and Bellerin with Rojo on the bench.

I think a Utd clean sheet is more likely than a Leicester or Villa clean sheet though so I'd say 1 from your options
