The community took an in-depth look at strategy this week to discuss the different tactics used, from playing the percentages to shooting from the hip. Our hot topic posters offer advice on these different types of Fantasy manager as well as some early Christmas carol singing – Fantasy football style. Elsewhere, our regular community writers are on hand with advice on climbing up the rankings in Gameweek 16 and beyond into Christmas, while we also see who has already pulled some Christmas crackers in our community leagues and catch up with the latest Members tables under construction.

The Community Articles

With even the most experienced Fantasy managers struggling for consistency this year, Enzo the Baker has presented those in the doldrums with a festive challenge.

To get the ball rolling this Gameweek The Sarjeant was on hand with his regular look ahead to the weekend’s matches based on team form.

Meanwhile YMA presented his regular predictions based on what the bookies are saying and Bolivian Seaman has popped by the fans’ forums for their pitch-side insight.

One differential that could help climb the rankings is Raheem Sterling, who, according to Kavali’s analysis, profits when Sergio Aguero is injured. Manchester City are also amongst those sides to come under the microscope of Rakkhi, with his look at home and away form over the last four years.

Finally, The Fantastic Fox has developed the theory of the baseline defender as he looks for some help in finding clean sheets to keep the Christmas march up the rankings going.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With both Manchester sides battling injuries, Zasa’s analysis of their midweek Champions League encounters gives a good indication of those who are fighting fit and in form this weekend.

A Christmas miracle may be needed to revive the fitness of Sergio Aguero in particular, who once again misses the next match as he recovers from injury. To help spread some festive cheer for Fantasy managers there was plenty of Christmas songs being penned, with this Tyrone Mings inspired verse from Rhysyball amongst our favourites.

On a similar festive theme, Demi was in fine voice to tell us about some of the top Christmas differentials we ought to be considering.

For some those looking to take up Enzo the Baker’s Christmas challenge, December has proved a cruel month so far, especially for those investing in the likes of the misfiring Eden Hazard and the injured Daniel Sturridge. This week’s Rough with the Smooth rounded up many of these tales of woe, along with some bragging from those who captained hat-trick hero Riyad Mahrez.

Bowstring the Carp had a stern message for those who seem all too ready to criticise others’ moves only with the benefit of hindsight.

Elsewhere, strategy took centre stage this week on both the Scoutcast and the hot topics as we discussed the merits and pitfalls of playing the percentages, while Twister Saltergater had some fun detailing the key Fantasy manager groups of dullards, sheep and punters.

Rule changes also cropped up this week, with Deadstar putting his head above the parapet to ponder scrapping of captaincies and ironing out disputes about assists once and for all.

The Members Tables

Scorcher Prime has been busy this week creating a wealth of statistics tables covering almost every aspect of the game from predicting defender goals to the most attacking strikers and midfielders in with a chance of a goal.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Andy extended his FFScout moderators and contributors league lead to 80 points over second-placed Green Windmill.

Ahead of the fourth week of qualifying in the FIFFSA 5-a-side tournament, Cheesoid was on hand to look back at the key events so far in this competition and Jaffalicious also popped by to deliver the latest news from the FFS UEFA Champion League competition.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, The Enlightener hit the top score in Gameweek 15 with 99. There are now 1207 teams qualified after 95 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 43.

Finally, Ralf Buckenmaier is the new leader of RedLightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league and is also now comfortably in the top 1,000 in the overall rankings.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

I'm really struggling with who to bench this week. Any ideas?

KdB (SWA), Ozil (avl), Ramsey (avl), Coutinho (WBA), Mahrez (CHE)

Kane (NEW), Lukaku (nor), Vardy (CHE)

Need to bench one of these...

      Yikes.

Can you play your AoA ?

Don't think so, it'd have to for a hit & I have some blind faith Firmino will produce the goods at home with Coutinho back to pull the strings. If I were to take him out, it'd be for Sterling I think.

    All set?

    Butland
    Toby, Moreno, Kolarov
    KDB(vc), Ozil, Hazard, Mahrez
    Vardy, Kane (c), Lukaku

    Schmeichel, Ward, Francis, Westwood
    2.1m, 1ft..

Hoping Hazard tears it up this GW..
He has 2 decent home fixtures next too.

Forget it. I just cannot get myself to remove Vardy, Ighalo or Lukaku for Kane. I've taken Aguero's 25 pointer and Lukaku's 12 pointer. I'll withstand this as well. 😀

Have the Scout Pick guys picked Bolasie due to money/squad representation or is he really a better option than Barkley this week? I haven't really considered the notion of starting him but looking at that changed my mind.

My original plan was to rotate him and Ighalo. He's bench fodder purely due to Ighalo's form.

He's still given me 17 points in 2 games so I'm cool.

But I'll need to remove him soon since I forsee Hazard, Aguero and Sanchez picking up during Boxing Day period.

Aguero? If he doesn't get injured I can't see him not being rested at 60 mins or nodding games to protect him. Happy to go without until after Christmas personally.

I'm an Aguero mark actually. Major Aguero fan. And squeezing him in the last minute into my team allowed me to get Mahrez in GW1, so he indirectly gave my start a huge lift. 😀 (Bear with me)

He's my only must-have. It's not for everyone though.

Is it fair to say you only see the upsides to owning him? It evens out, you've long lost those points by now due to other Aguero related/enforced moves.

                    Agreed, to some extent.

I lost those points last season. Since his explosive return against Cardiff 2013-14, Aguero hasn't really sparkled on his first game return from injury that's why I steered clear of him until fitness is proven.

That said, he's burned me horribly this season. Had him for the first 7 weeks where he didn't perform, WC-ed and removed him and bam 25 points. Then due to my poor TV, I got him in ASAP and bam, he's injured. 😀 Though indirectly that got me Mata -> Bolasie which worked pretty well too.

I'll take him in if he proves his fitness and shows a performance close to that Chelsea one.

Ouch ait the 25 points. Sounds like you're being a bit more ruthless with him, but still not ruthless enough. I'm keeping him out of my team until he's back and looking good, and will ship immediately on any missed game.

                      Good luck!

You never know under Van Gaal. I'd steer clear of having punts right now given the Christmas period is upcoming and you'd ideally use as less transfer as possible removing players who'll be major rotation risks.

He benched Rojo for Watford, I guess that sums it up.
