The community took an in-depth look at strategy this week to discuss the different tactics used, from playing the percentages to shooting from the hip. Our hot topic posters offer advice on these different types of Fantasy manager as well as some early Christmas carol singing – Fantasy football style. Elsewhere, our regular community writers are on hand with advice on climbing up the rankings in Gameweek 16 and beyond into Christmas, while we also see who has already pulled some Christmas crackers in our community leagues and catch up with the latest Members tables under construction.

The Community Articles

With even the most experienced Fantasy managers struggling for consistency this year, Enzo the Baker has presented those in the doldrums with a festive challenge.

To get the ball rolling this Gameweek The Sarjeant was on hand with his regular look ahead to the weekend’s matches based on team form.

Meanwhile YMA presented his regular predictions based on what the bookies are saying and Bolivian Seaman has popped by the fans’ forums for their pitch-side insight.

One differential that could help climb the rankings is Raheem Sterling, who, according to Kavali’s analysis, profits when Sergio Aguero is injured. Manchester City are also amongst those sides to come under the microscope of Rakkhi, with his look at home and away form over the last four years.

Finally, The Fantastic Fox has developed the theory of the baseline defender as he looks for some help in finding clean sheets to keep the Christmas march up the rankings going.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With both Manchester sides battling injuries, Zasa’s analysis of their midweek Champions League encounters gives a good indication of those who are fighting fit and in form this weekend.

A Christmas miracle may be needed to revive the fitness of Sergio Aguero in particular, who once again misses the next match as he recovers from injury. To help spread some festive cheer for Fantasy managers there was plenty of Christmas songs being penned, with this Tyrone Mings inspired verse from Rhysyball amongst our favourites.

On a similar festive theme, Demi was in fine voice to tell us about some of the top Christmas differentials we ought to be considering.

For some those looking to take up Enzo the Baker’s Christmas challenge, December has proved a cruel month so far, especially for those investing in the likes of the misfiring Eden Hazard and the injured Daniel Sturridge. This week’s Rough with the Smooth rounded up many of these tales of woe, along with some bragging from those who captained hat-trick hero Riyad Mahrez.

Bowstring the Carp had a stern message for those who seem all too ready to criticise others’ moves only with the benefit of hindsight.

Elsewhere, strategy took centre stage this week on both the Scoutcast and the hot topics as we discussed the merits and pitfalls of playing the percentages, while Twister Saltergater had some fun detailing the key Fantasy manager groups of dullards, sheep and punters.

Rule changes also cropped up this week, with Deadstar putting his head above the parapet to ponder scrapping of captaincies and ironing out disputes about assists once and for all.

The Members Tables

Scorcher Prime has been busy this week creating a wealth of statistics tables covering almost every aspect of the game from predicting defender goals to the most attacking strikers and midfielders in with a chance of a goal.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Andy extended his FFScout moderators and contributors league lead to 80 points over second-placed Green Windmill.

Ahead of the fourth week of qualifying in the FIFFSA 5-a-side tournament, Cheesoid was on hand to look back at the key events so far in this competition and Jaffalicious also popped by to deliver the latest news from the FFS UEFA Champion League competition.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, The Enlightener hit the top score in Gameweek 15 with 99. There are now 1207 teams qualified after 95 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 43.

Finally, Ralf Buckenmaier is the new leader of RedLightning’s Top 10K Any Season mini-league and is also now comfortably in the top 1,000 in the overall rankings.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    Hi all,

First time commenting but I'm looking some advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cech
    Cresswell Rose Moreno
    Bolasie Mahrez Barkley Ozil KDB
    Kane Lukaku

Myhill, Vardy (?), Van Dijk, Smalling 1FT, 2M ITB

I'm rolling with Vardy on the bench this week. I fancy Chelsea to keep a tight defence and don't want to double up on Leicester and will never bench Mahrez after I did that earlier in the season and it screwed me.

    Question: drop someone for Vardy?

Yeah Barkley was one of the ones I'm considering dropping for Vardy. Barkley or Bolasie is what it's boiling down to.

    Lukaku (nor)
    Ighalo (sun)
    Vardy (CHE)

I feel like I'm taking a huge risk not having Kane as he's in a lot of teams and will be the captain for those that have him.

Is it worth using my FT to ship one of the above to him?

I got the same strikeforce and will be keeping it mainly because I want to take out Lanzini. But it would be hard to pick one to swap out for Kane. I would save.

If you can afford to upgrade Ighalo to Kane then I'd advise it. Better fixtures. Kane has a nice run right through til early Feb imho.

    DDG
    Kolarov Koscielny Moreno
    Özil Mahrez KDB Hazard
    Kane Vardy Ighalo

    Myhill Lingard Huth Targett

    0 FT 2,3 ITB

When is the time to wildcard with this team? Got both wildcards left, obviously.

It's a hard question to answer

You will use it if you have an injury crisis over the next few weeks or on December 31st to make a few tweaks

      2. MojoNova
        • 10 Years

Disagree with Jac here. Your team looks strong. I wouldn't Wildcard just for the sake of it. Save it for over the Christmas break as the games come thick and fast and you don't know who'll get injured etc.

Worst case scenario, you can use it on 31st December for 1 or 2 free transfers!

Yeah but I'd add you shouldn't use it just for the sake of it. Letting it go to waste isn't the worst idea in the world if your happy with your team.

It's so tempting to make transfers when you can for free even if you like your team. I'm speaking from experience this season obviously 🙂

A repost from something I posted earlier. Never got hulked unfortunately 🙁

For Kane captainers, here's a list of how Tottenham have performed this season after their Euorpa League games:

    Europa: - 17th September - Beat Qarabag 3-1 (home)

Premier League - 20th September - Beat CRY 1-0 (home)

Europa - 1st October - Drew 1-1 with Monaco (Away)

Premier League - 4th October - Drew 2-2 with SWA (away)

Europa - 22nd October - Lost 1-2 to Anderlecht (Away)

Premier League - 25th October - Beat BOU 5-1 (away)

    Europa - 5th November - Beat Anderlecht 2-1 (home)

Premier League - 8th November - Drew 1-1 with ARS (away)

    Europa - 26th November - Beat Quarabag 1-0 (away)

Premier League - 29th November - Drew 0-0 with CHE (home)

So after their home games in Europa, Spurs took 4 points out of 6. After their away games, Spurs took 5 points from 9. They didn't lose a game after playing in the Europa League.

TL;DR: Spurs are pretty unaffected by playing in Europa and havent lost a game this season after playing in the tournament. However, aside from the mauling of Bournemouth, goals were a problem. With only 4 goals scored across the 4 games. I still think Kane is a great option however.

One of the strikers. Mahrez is a season keeper for me, who is your other striker?

Play Nyom (sun) or VVD (cry)?

Currently playing Nyom, with Bellerin and Toby

    Current team is:

    De Gea
    Bellerin Dier Moreno
    Ozil Mahrez Barkley Firmino Alli
    Kane(c) Lukaku

    Subs: Hennessey Aguero Ward Simpson

I have 2FT. I could bring in De Bruyne and Giroud for Firmino and Aguero but who would I drop?

Drop Alli. He should play a bit deeper against Newcasle.

Is it crazy to not have any City cover for this week?

Willian > Sterling/KDB or Silva? for a hit?

I've got the same problem. Trying to avoid the hit. I remind myself all the time that next week Chelsea have a better fixture than City

Swansea could be tricky. You don't know what Swansea will show up: The same one that Monk has managed that is in poor form or a squad 'free from the reins of being in a rut'?

I think that's a reach to be honest. Who's even standing in as manager? Quite a few of the staff have departed as well as Monk. Everything is possible but they are rudderless

They wouldn't be the first managerless club to overperform in their first game though.

They wouldn't, but in terms of likelihoods, a 5-0 beating is higher up the list imo

I see what you're saying... but good defence depends on how organised they are. Hard to see how they will be tighter at the back without a manager.

possibly just a 'defend by attacking well' sort of thing..keeping City on the backfoot..

could definitely be a reach though as Zidane said just above 😉
