Bright and early, we camp outside Paddy Power’s door in anticipation of scanning their latest reckoning ahead of another Gameweek deadline.

Before we assess the odds for Anytime Scorer and Clean Sheets, those without a Paddy Power account may well fancy a flutter on the latest specials.

This weekend’s European acca is huge. New customers can gather massive odds of 30/1 on wins for Tottenham (vs Newcastle), Liverpool (vs West Brom), Real Madrid (at Villarreal), Atletico (vs Athletico Bilbao) and Juventus (vs Fiorentina).

Back on home soil, this evening’s live encounter at Dean Court is covered by Paddy’s offer of 6/1 on an away win for United over Bournemouth (regular odds are Evens).

There are two specials lined up for Sunday’s encounters, with Paddy dangling 5/1 on an Arsenal win at Aston Villa (regular odds 4/7) and 4/1 on Spurs prevailing over Newcastle at White Hart Lane.

Finally, for Monday night’s enthralling clash at the King Power, Paddy are presenting new customers with big odds of 10/1 on a Leicester home win over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Be sure to check the teams and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

Harry Kane (1.53) has been tipped by Paddy as the man most likely to grace the scoresheet in the Gameweek ahead of Tottenham’s enticing home clash against Newcastle United. Despite drawing successive blanks, the Lilywhites frontman ranked top among forwards for attempts (19) over the last four Gameweeks and is pitted against the league’s joint-worst defence (30 goals conceded). Paddy’s confidence certainly reinforces Kane’s case for the captaincy and justifies his placing at the summit of our Captain Poll.

In the absence of Sergio Aguero – who’s been ruled out with a heel injury – Wilfried Bony is priced at 1.72 for Manchester City’s home encounter against Swansea City. Although the Sky Blues failed to score in two of their previous four outings, they are the clear frontrunners with regards to home goals (23), ensuring that Kelechi Iheanacho (1.90), Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling (both 2.25) also feature in the top ten.

Christian Benteke (1.80) has been pinpointed as the man to spark a response from Liverpool in the wake of their 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. The Reds marksman locks horns with a West Bromwich Albion outfit that’s conceded fewer road goals (five) than any other side. Despite that, Paddy have Benteke earmarked a clear short-term differential, with team-mate Philippe Coutinho also well fancied out at 2.50.

Fresh from a hat-trick in Arsenal’s midweek Champions League triumph, Olivier Giroud (1.90) will be relishing the prospect of duelling an Aston Villa outfit that carded just one clean sheet in their previous 14 fixtures. The favourable nature of the Gunners’ match-up also means that a fit-again Theo Walcott (2.40) also ranks highly.

Romelu Lukaku (2.00) is arguably over-priced, given that he netted in his last five starts and ranked joint-top for shots inside the box (14) over the last four Gameweeks. Moreover, Everton face off against a Norwich City unit that charts top for shots inside the box conceded (141) and big chances conceded (38) across the entire campaign.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 16

TeamOdds
Liverpool1.72
Manchester City2.00
Arsenal2.10
Tottenham2.10
Manchester United2.70
Watford2.87
West Ham United2.87
Crystal Palace3.00

Going head-to-head with a West Brom squad that places third-bottom for goals (14), bottom for attempts (136) and joint-bottom for big chances (15), Liverpool (1.72) boast the best clean-sheet prospects by Paddy’s estimation. Manchester City (2.00) occupy the silver-medal berth ahead of their Etihad meeting with the Swans, who’ve drawn blanks in four of their last five outings.

Arsenal and Tottenham both sit at the 2.10 mark. The Gunners engage a Villa side that have recorded only five goals since Gameweek 8, while Spurs possess the second-best defensive record at home (five goals conceded) prior to the visit of Steve McClaren’s Newcastle.

Manchester United (2.70) secured shut-outs in four of the previous six Gameweeks but are contending with a bevy of defensive injuries before their trip to Bournemouth. Meanwhile, Watford (2.87) registered three clean sheets in their last six match-ups, which bodes well for a road clash against Sunderland.

West Ham United (2.87) could struggle to silence a buoyant Stoke team without Winston Reid’s commanding presence in central defence. As for Crystal Palace (3.00), they’ll fancy their chances against a floundering Southampton attack that posted the second-worst shot-conversion rate (4.7%) over the last four Gameweeks.

For me I'd be looking for a potential drubbing being handed out. On paper that will be Arsenal, Everton and Spurs.

Top captain picks for me (note I don't own all of these)
      1. Giroud - four goals in two matches and up against Villa looks a great bet
      2. Ramsey - Can Villa stop his rampaging runs from midfield - no chance. He will get points.
      3. Kane - Newcastle are still poor and he's nicely rested.
      4. Lukaku - Norwich are also poor and his goal involvement makes him another great pick.

Seeing as I don't own the first two its Kane (c) for me.

Jonny, Norwich are a different kettle of fish at home. Remember their last game at home? A 1-1 draw with Arsenal where they definitely had the better of the 2nd half. Everton will do well to come away with all three points this lunchtime.

They have yet to meet the human goal involvement machine that is Lukaku at home though this season. But yes Norwich's tighter defence in recent weeks does put him a notch lower than Kane for me this Gwk.

I'm going with Kane simply because I don't believe that Newcastle are capable of putting two good games together. Spurs at some point will score at will when their front four click on the same day. My only concern is that Kane has not looked in form over the last two weeks, but everything else says he should be my choice

It's taking all my will power to resist Haz to Ramsey (c) for a hit. But the lure of Hazard on a Monday is keeping him in my team. Go me - using completely illogical reasoning for that decision. 😉

Kane or Lukaku seem the logical choices in my squad. Both nailed for 90, focal points of their respective attacks, on penalties, and facing relegation contenders. Kane for me, simply because he's at home.

Currently on Lukaku - he could be explosive and he has consistency lately too which suggests at worse, you'll get a goal and some BPS.
Still toying with Ighalo as the decision paid off last week. Also don't like having the armband on early kick offs as it can be such a disappointing start to the weekend!

Kane will blank again. Vardy will struggle to get points. Lukaku plays early game, against a defense that has tightened their screws.

Therefore Özil or Ramzay. Might go for the latter, for diff reasons.

My midfield is current sterling, ali, ozil, Mahrez and Barkley. My defence is moreno, kolarov and Monreal and attack vardy, lukaku and Kane I have £5.6m on the bench and one FT.

    (a) Is it worth bringing in KDB, i have a feeling he might get rested or saving it. If it is who should i replace him with NB if i change Ali then i will need to take a point hit.

      Has to be this round?

I would wait and see how LvG react to the injuries. Will he realize they have to attack more, when the quality of defence is as it is?

Or will he believe that the system he has been playing prevails over less quality players and continue his dull tactics.
