Bright and early, we camp outside Paddy Power’s door in anticipation of scanning their latest reckoning ahead of another Gameweek deadline.

Before we assess the odds for Anytime Scorer and Clean Sheets, those without a Paddy Power account may well fancy a flutter on the latest specials.

This weekend’s European acca is huge. New customers can gather massive odds of 30/1 on wins for Tottenham (vs Newcastle), Liverpool (vs West Brom), Real Madrid (at Villarreal), Atletico (vs Athletico Bilbao) and Juventus (vs Fiorentina).

Back on home soil, this evening’s live encounter at Dean Court is covered by Paddy’s offer of 6/1 on an away win for United over Bournemouth (regular odds are Evens).

There are two specials lined up for Sunday’s encounters, with Paddy dangling 5/1 on an Arsenal win at Aston Villa (regular odds 4/7) and 4/1 on Spurs prevailing over Newcastle at White Hart Lane.

Finally, for Monday night’s enthralling clash at the King Power, Paddy are presenting new customers with big odds of 10/1 on a Leicester home win over Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Be sure to check the teams and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.

ANYTIME GOALSCORER ODDS – GAMEWEEK 16

Player Team Odds
Kane TOT 1.53
Bony MCI 1.72
Benteke LIV 1.80
Iheanacho MCI 1.90
Giroud ARS 1.90
Lukaku EVE 2.00
De Bruyne MCI 2.25
Sterling MCI 2.25
Vardy LEI 2.40
Walcott ARS 2.40
Coutinho LIV 2.50

Harry Kane (1.53) has been tipped by Paddy as the man most likely to grace the scoresheet in the Gameweek ahead of Tottenham’s enticing home clash against Newcastle United. Despite drawing successive blanks, the Lilywhites frontman ranked top among forwards for attempts (19) over the last four Gameweeks and is pitted against the league’s joint-worst defence (30 goals conceded). Paddy’s confidence certainly reinforces Kane’s case for the captaincy and justifies his placing at the summit of our Captain Poll.

In the absence of Sergio Aguero – who’s been ruled out with a heel injury – Wilfried Bony is priced at 1.72 for Manchester City’s home encounter against Swansea City. Although the Sky Blues failed to score in two of their previous four outings, they are the clear frontrunners with regards to home goals (23), ensuring that Kelechi Iheanacho (1.90), Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling (both 2.25) also feature in the top ten.

Christian Benteke (1.80) has been pinpointed as the man to spark a response from Liverpool in the wake of their 2-0 defeat at Newcastle. The Reds marksman locks horns with a West Bromwich Albion outfit that’s conceded fewer road goals (five) than any other side. Despite that, Paddy have Benteke earmarked a clear short-term differential, with team-mate Philippe Coutinho also well fancied out at 2.50.

Fresh from a hat-trick in Arsenal’s midweek Champions League triumph, Olivier Giroud (1.90) will be relishing the prospect of duelling an Aston Villa outfit that carded just one clean sheet in their previous 14 fixtures. The favourable nature of the Gunners’ match-up also means that a fit-again Theo Walcott (2.40) also ranks highly.

Romelu Lukaku (2.00) is arguably over-priced, given that he netted in his last five starts and ranked joint-top for shots inside the box (14) over the last four Gameweeks. Moreover, Everton face off against a Norwich City unit that charts top for shots inside the box conceded (141) and big chances conceded (38) across the entire campaign.

CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 16

Team Odds
Liverpool 1.72
Manchester City 2.00
Arsenal 2.10
Tottenham 2.10
Manchester United 2.70
Watford 2.87
West Ham United 2.87
Crystal Palace 3.00

Going head-to-head with a West Brom squad that places third-bottom for goals (14), bottom for attempts (136) and joint-bottom for big chances (15), Liverpool (1.72) boast the best clean-sheet prospects by Paddy’s estimation. Manchester City (2.00) occupy the silver-medal berth ahead of their Etihad meeting with the Swans, who’ve drawn blanks in four of their last five outings.

Arsenal and Tottenham both sit at the 2.10 mark. The Gunners engage a Villa side that have recorded only five goals since Gameweek 8, while Spurs possess the second-best defensive record at home (five goals conceded) prior to the visit of Steve McClaren’s Newcastle.

Manchester United (2.70) secured shut-outs in four of the previous six Gameweeks but are contending with a bevy of defensive injuries before their trip to Bournemouth. Meanwhile, Watford (2.87) registered three clean sheets in their last six match-ups, which bodes well for a road clash against Sunderland.

West Ham United (2.87) could struggle to silence a buoyant Stoke team without Winston Reid’s commanding presence in central defence. As for Crystal Palace (3.00), they’ll fancy their chances against a floundering Southampton attack that posted the second-worst shot-conversion rate (4.7%) over the last four Gameweeks.

Don't think so. Hard to bench a player who scored 3 goals last GW. 4-4-1-1 with Mahrez behind Vardy is possible tough.

I’m really struggling to decide who to bench. Got a frontline of:

    KDB, Özil, Mahrez, Barkley, Alli
    Kane, Vardy, Lukaku

Right now I’m between Barkley and Alli. I think Alli has a great fixture, but I’m afraid of Barkleys explosiveness, and after watching the last Everton game, I’m really impressed with him. I hate having lots of points on my bench, but when I bought Alli I said to myself that I would always bench him if no one else was obvious.

Brake the promise to my selves and go with the gut (Alli) or follow my plans and my fright of explosiveness (Barkley)?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Darn, I would like to bench neither Everton nor Spurs players this GW. Home mach tends to be the better fixture, and Spurs are a loudly better team than Everton. And Newcastle truly sucks.

But as the odds are made according to that he starts, while there is a major chance that he doesn't, the returns are always going to be too low relative to that risk.

It's like this. The odds for him to score are odds they give, times the odds that he starts. Your return will not reflect this, it supposes that the odds that he starts are 1, when really they're more like 0.05.

And finally, you can still bet on anytime goal scorer after the match has started and when you _know_ that he starts, which will not affect his odds as it is already assumed in them, so nobody reasonably would ever put his money on Iheanacho before the match.

                  • 12 Years
                  10 years, 7 months ago

That's why you never put anytime goalscorer bets on until the teamsheets are out. If you do at all that is. Goalscorer markets are often some of the worst you can go into...

Yeah, it's rubbish for us, but the bookies have to cover the possibility of Bony getting injured and Iheanacho starting. They can't give a good price to a nailed-on City striker getting 90 minutes in a good fixture.

Yup, VORP is dead right now until 2/3 of Sanchez/Aguero/Hazard/Sturridge/Costa return to form.

Fair point but Balders can buy what he likes when he needs to without taking hits. Or changing too much. But I do get your very valid point. I was just interested in others value.

Jon, do it, get rid of Pelle and bring in Kane ... Home vs Newcastle seems the perfect time.

    Decision time:

    A) Stick
    B) Bolasie -> Sterling/Silva/Ramsey (-4)

Not convinced Bolasie will rip it up over the next 3 weeks (SOT, sto, bou) but it would be a risk losing him for a hit. Edging towards one of the City mids, with Sterling out in front (cash saved enables Barkley -> Ramsey/Wally.

    DDG
    Kolarov, Bellerin, Moreno
    KDB, Mahrez, Barkley, Bolasie
    Kane, Lukaku, Giroud

    Hennessey, VVD, Simpson, Surman

Can't decide whether to (c) Kane or Lukaku.

Don't want to go with Lukaku because he's playing in the Saturday noon kick off but then Kane is problematic because he's playing in the Sunday 4pm match!

Doesn't matter what time they play. Kane is the better option according to must on here.

    Giroud - Kane (c) - Lukaku

Enough on his own, especially if you have additional Arsenal players

As someone mentioned on the other page, Vardy is more likely to get you a consistent return, but Mahrez is capable of exploding.

Also, it is written that thou shalt not bench Mahrez.
