With the FA Cup Fourth Round set to kick off later tonight, there’s been plenty of press conferences taking place over the past 24 hours. Here’s the main news from the managers so far…

Kevin de Bruyne took to social media last night to confirm he will be sidelined “for around 10 weeks” with the knee injury that forced him off during Man City’s 3-1 cup win over Everton on Wednesday evening.

Francis Coquelin and Tomas Rosicky are both available for Arsenal’s clash with Burnley tomorrow – Arsene Wenger has revealed new boy Mohamed Elneny could be handed his first start, though he’s yet to make a decision on Coquelin. Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla are still “a few weeks away” from returning, though Danny Welbeck “needs a game or two” with the reserves to improve his fitness. Per Mertesacker serves out a one-match suspension after his red card against Chelsea.

Mark Noble is a slight doubt for West Ham’s trip to Liverpool tomorrow due to illness. Slaven Bilic has also revealed that James Tomkins is back in training, whilst Andy Carroll could be back playing in ten days’ time. Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho, meanwhile, are expected to return in a fortnight. New boy Sam Byram is cup-tied for the Anfield encounter, whilst Bilic has conceded that the club are waiting on the outcome of Carl Jenkinson’s visit to a specialist amid fears he could be sidelined for the season with a knee injury.

Geoff Cameron remains sidelined for Stoke’s trip to Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon. Marko Arnautovic is set to be assessed ahead of the Selhurst Park clash after picking up a knock in Tuesday’s cup encounter with Liverpool, whilst Charlie Adam has been ruled out for five-to-six weeks with a calf complaint. Mark Hughes has some good news, though, after revealing that the Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross could be back quicker than the expected three-to-four-week absence:

“Ryan is quite positive at the moment actually, he feels a lot better within himself and the area of the injury seems to be settling down. Initially we said he would be out for up to a month at the most, but we hopefully he will be back sooner.”

Fit-again Michael Carrick is set to return for United’s clash with Derby, though won’t play from start to finish after recently recovering from injury. Matteo Darmian remains unavailable after being forced off against Southampton last weekend, whilst Louis van Gaal is reluctant to put a time scale on the return of Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bournemouth skipper Tommy Elphick is set to return to first-team action against Portsmouth tomorrow. The centre-half had stepped up his recovery with a run-out for the reserves earlier this week. Eddie Howe has revealed that Junior Stanislas misses out and “might not be fit for next week”, though scans have confirmed the winger’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Tony Pulis is unlikely to make too many changes for West Brom’s clash with Peterborough, with the Baggies boss set to pick “a strong team” for tomorrow’s encounter at the Hawthorns. Pulis also revealed he is looking to acquire QPR midfielder Sandro on loan, though the deal has yet to be completed.

Alan Pardew has conceded that new Palace signing Emmanuel Adebayor won’t be fit to start against Stoke tomorrow. Connor Wickham has been hit with a heavy fine by the Eagles boss for his elbow on Jan Vertonghen last weekend – the FA are imminently expected to confirm the forward’s ban for violent conduct.

James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Tom Cleverley all came through Everton’s cup clash with City without any problems and are available to face Carlisle on Sunday. Kevin Mirallas’ injury isn’t as bad as first expected, with the winger set to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the weekend.

    People are benching Ozil?

Agreed. As a soton fan I think Arsenal will try and destory Saints, especially as their previous games have been tight. Still Koeman should keep a tight defence so I'd be wary of a blank.

Saints defence has drastically improved though and they are on a high, Arsenal have been stuttering and struggling. can see a 0-0

Strange for a home game, objectively.

Subjectively, I guess if you had the template of Payet Alli Mahrez/Firmino [Was KdB, now maybe Silva] you might think that Ozil is the odd man out if you have the template LuKaKu front line...

This is why I always have a 5th mid who is a nailed 2 pointer rather than having this benching headache every week!

.4 ITB 1FT With Butland and Myhill.
As above, was waiting for .1 drop on Adrian because of fixtures but is Hennessey better? Or is it better to save FT and play butland week in week out?

If I do KDB to Silva and King to Alli, with my 2 FT, who would you bench out of :

    Ozil - Silva - Payet - Mahrez - Alli
    Kane - Lukaku - Kun [C]

And who to bench -Daniels (cry) or Simpson (LIV)?

Trying to find a keeper to go with Schmeichel as Leicesters's next 3 fixtures aren't fantastic. I think I've narrowed it down to Hennessey v Adrian.

I've taken out the fixtures where I'll play Schmeichel to leave:

    West Ham - Villa (h), Southampton (a), Norwich (a),Palace (a), Palace (h),Sunderland (a)

    Palace - Bournemouth (h), Swansea (a), Watford (h), Norwich (h), Leicester (h), Southampton (h)

Biggest advantage with Palace is the games are mostly at home. West Ham defence is looking solid too. Other issue is Hennessey might not be nailed in the longer term but does cost less than Adrian.

    Thoughts?

Pardew said Hennessey redeemed himself last week but there is always going to be the risk he is going to be dropped http://www.vavel.com/en/football/premier-league/crystal-palace/592218-pardew-warns-hennessey-following-forgetful-week-for-welsh-international.html

Hmmm okay - cheers. Could just take the risk as it's really the next 3 weeks I could really do with him for, after that Schmeichel is good for a while.

I think some players are first choice rather than being nailed on . Players like Walker etc could be replaced by the manager . I think Hennessey fits this considering Pardew's comments after the Villa game

Have triple Spurs already, have Bertrand too and don't think Southamptons fixtures are good enough to double on. I need someone to cover Schmeichel mainly.

You don't rate Palace then? 🙂

Foster is an option but for next 3 for example Palace's fixtures are better imo. Foster could be a bit like Forster though and make WBA defence start performing even better.

These are the full fixtures up until last 3 GWs:

        West Ham ---- Villa (h), Southampton (a), Norwich (a), Norwich (h), WBA (h), Watford (a), Newcastle (h), Palace (a), Palace (h), Sunderland (a), West Ham (h), Swansea (h)

        Palace ---- Bournemouth (h), Swansea (a), Watford (h), Norwich (h), WBA (h), Watford (a), Newcastle (h), Leicester (h), Southampton (h), Norwich (h), West Ham (h), Swansea (h)

I took out the duplicate fixtures. The remainder could be Leicester or West Ham/Palace.

    "The casuals"

I've never heard a more silly term and it is bandied about on here so much. Define the term for me please.

Am i a casual because I don't spend every minute living and breathing fantasy football? Am i a casual because I made an early transfer?

A casual is one that carelessly picks their team without research or knowledge.

There's nothing wrong with being a casual, it's just annoying when 0 effort gets rewarded.

Just back from injury, won't get full games until he's fully fit, nearly everyone needs a few games to get back into their groove after a medium or long term injury.

I was very tempted by this one, but I felt that Silva was a better choice in the short term; once Alexis is back at near 100% he's a no brainer to come in. Probably for Ozil, actually.

Lots of WC in circulation which messes with the predictive stats.

KdB only went down last night, rather than the prior 2 days when he'd been redboxed on fplstatistics, so I think take the price rise/falls as an indicator rather than a certainty currently.

Maybe, or start looking at players who are going to play GW30, which is going to be a decimated GW.

        True...

Still have a WC though, plus happy with my squad overall and planning to bank a transfer next GW.

Just a case of getting Sanchez in now or later, to be honest.

Really comes down to who is likely to score more points vs. Southampton out of him and Ozil and I can't call it at the moment!

Madness in the sense that they're still attracting players when they're so far down in the league. Fair play to them though, if they do stay up after making these transfers.

Kone looks good too. Think most foreign players are attracted to the prem. We're giving ourselves a chance to stay up anyway.

Really impressed how ruthless and efficient Allardyce has been getting rid of the deadwood. Buckley, Bridcutt, Mavrias, Pantillimon, Graham and Coates all been moved on this window. It's eased up the wage bill which is why we're making these signings now.

Man City EPL points per game:
Vs bottom third: 2.75 (rank 1st)
    Vs middle third: 2.44 (1st)
    Vs top third: 0.43 (18th)

Granted Man City's matches against the top 3rd have mainly been away but they have been bad.

Hi Guys a little help please with my first ever post.

I want to play my AoA chip this gameweek. Current team

      Henn - Fabianski

      Williams - Cress - Ward - Walker - Bennett

      Alli - Yaya - Payet - Ozil - Gosling

      Kane - Aguero(c) - Lukaku

      1FT .5 ITB

      Question is
      1) Walker has personal issues and might not play (any updates?) do I sell him?
      2) Bennett got dropped last week do I trade him aswell for a hit?
      3) Do I hold my AoA for DGW?

        1) no, should be back. Wife had a bubba. Keep monitoring his starts, and maybe identify for removal should he continue to rotated - I was going to get him but changed my mind because of the uncertainty, nothing worse than a team keeping a CS but your player not being involved!
        2) save it. You won't be playing Bennett anyway. He can rot on your bench! I still have Saylor from GW1...
        3) play AoA any week where your defence is crud but your front 8 is in a good way; definitely not worthy of saving for a special occasion (as opposed to BB/TC)

I reckon he's one of those keep for the season or get rid altogether type players. He might blank for a few weeks and pick up a CS and everyone will sell, then he'll score one or two and everyone wants him again. Then the cycle repeats itself

Yeah dead on, Nick - I always seem to have more immediate priorities so he's just kind of stuck in my team now for the foreseeable.

Plus I also have Zouma, who is more likely to make way eventually rather than Dann to finance other moves (e.g. midfield like Sanchez or getting an Arsenal defender in post GW28). He keeps getting annoying clean sheets when I've invariably played Dann over him - might well play him vs. wat this week and bench Dann, just to see if I continue to get spited!

Only just yesterday Teixeira's asking price was £38m (€50m) and overnight it's become £53m (€70m). Teixeira wants the move, the manager has said he will let him join, the president said he'll sell if the price (at the time was £38m) was met. Seen this before, quote a higher price and tempt a higher bid (£24.5m + £4m add ons).

If we don't pay the £38m, then I hope we have some form of alternative. We can't continue the next 6 months playing Milner and Lallana in the first team. Maybe Gotze will be the alternative to Teixeira in the summer, there's legs to MG wanting the move also.

Might be screwed for the rest of the season though. 😎

of course, how on earth can you be expected to play 2 England internationals in your first team, one of whom you paid £25m for only a couple of years ago.;-)

Beggers can't be choosers, and Liverpool can't expect to get quality like Gotze when you don't qualify for Europe.

Like I said on other posts about the info we have - I have no reason not to believe Rob, he wouldn't lie about something like that, been following him for ages, we were even chatting about it over PSN last night 🙂

But the limp could have been anything at the end of the day, perhaps it was just a checkup? We just don't know for sure. As Pulis hasn't said anything I guess we can not worry and see if any news comes out of the FA Cup game.

I'm a Dawson owner and I imagie the scenario to be thus.

Dawson picks up a knock, causing him some discomfort. Goes for an MRCI, results show no serious damage. Misses the FA cup game and comes back in for the league game, without anyone suspecting anything was wrong with him.

Could be completely wrong, of course 🙂 haha

Or hold the transfer and watch Lukaku vs. Newcastle. If he looks rubbish, might be time to get rid.

Sanchez coming back could improve Giroud's returns.

        Giroud.

Keep Lukaku for the rest of the year - DGWs and also the main focal point of attacks, even if he's profligate.

      Butland (Hennessey)
      Cresswell, Toby, Bellerin (Ward, Simpson)
      KDB, Özil, Mahrez, Alli (Gosling)
      Lukaku, Aguero, Kane

      2FT, 1.0 ITB

      Any Ideas?

KDB -> Payet, save the other FT and play Simpson.

Looks pretty good, you just need to swap KDB for someone - Silva, Sanchez or Firminio maybe? I had a similar swap and went for Silva with them playing SUN next game.

KdB has to go, of course. You options are:
        - Silva (I did this myself) - like-for-like, Silva will advance and assist Kun's goals and maybe score a few himself (last year he scored 12 and assisted 12, not bad going really). Strong fixtures but he's coming back from injury and there is a serious pile up coming once they have UCL back and also the C1C final and the FA Cup. Might be tired. BUT DGW is another factor.
        - Payet - good fixtures, no continental competition.
        - Firmino - hot form, dgw coming up
        - Sanchez - proven to be amazing. But coming back from injury and could have limited minutes.

I'd choose between Payet and Silva myself - probably Payet for that tasty game against Villa.

Save your other transfer for sure.

(Just to clear up any confusion, I already have Payet and did Silva in for KdB this week - I meant the above in terms of if-I-woz-u)

      1FT save or?

      Hennessey
      Bellerin / Evans / Dawson
      Alli / Firmino / Mahrez / Ozil / Antonio
      Kane / Aguero

      (Ighalo / Dier / Huth)

save, but benching Ighalo is always risky. I would bench Antonio because even though it's a good fixture, Payet etc are more likely to get on the points. I would also consider starting Dier, but thats coz i don't like doubling up

Damn that's an epic front 8.

Be tempted to give Ozil the bench given recent travails, can see the Ars game being very low scoring indeed - if Watford score vs. Chelski Iggie is bound to be involved.

Dembele signs new three-and-a-half-year contract at Spurs.

Gotta be the most improved player this season. Well the talent was always there, he just needed a manager to give him a break, and Poch has done that!

      Thanks Poch x

Very underestimated player. FPL-wise not too keen on, though.

Not the best FPL player but so vital for Spurs.

Why do you have Berty if you are playing Targett ahead of him? Why not just sell Berty completly?
