With the FA Cup Fourth Round set to kick off later tonight, there’s been plenty of press conferences taking place over the past 24 hours. Here’s the main news from the managers so far…

Kevin de Bruyne took to social media last night to confirm he will be sidelined “for around 10 weeks” with the knee injury that forced him off during Man City’s 3-1 cup win over Everton on Wednesday evening.

Francis Coquelin and Tomas Rosicky are both available for Arsenal’s clash with Burnley tomorrow – Arsene Wenger has revealed new boy Mohamed Elneny could be handed his first start, though he’s yet to make a decision on Coquelin. Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla are still “a few weeks away” from returning, though Danny Welbeck “needs a game or two” with the reserves to improve his fitness. Per Mertesacker serves out a one-match suspension after his red card against Chelsea.

Mark Noble is a slight doubt for West Ham’s trip to Liverpool tomorrow due to illness. Slaven Bilic has also revealed that James Tomkins is back in training, whilst Andy Carroll could be back playing in ten days’ time. Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho, meanwhile, are expected to return in a fortnight. New boy Sam Byram is cup-tied for the Anfield encounter, whilst Bilic has conceded that the club are waiting on the outcome of Carl Jenkinson’s visit to a specialist amid fears he could be sidelined for the season with a knee injury.

Geoff Cameron remains sidelined for Stoke’s trip to Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon. Marko Arnautovic is set to be assessed ahead of the Selhurst Park clash after picking up a knock in Tuesday’s cup encounter with Liverpool, whilst Charlie Adam has been ruled out for five-to-six weeks with a calf complaint. Mark Hughes has some good news, though, after revealing that the Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross could be back quicker than the expected three-to-four-week absence:

“Ryan is quite positive at the moment actually, he feels a lot better within himself and the area of the injury seems to be settling down. Initially we said he would be out for up to a month at the most, but we hopefully he will be back sooner.”

Fit-again Michael Carrick is set to return for United’s clash with Derby, though won’t play from start to finish after recently recovering from injury. Matteo Darmian remains unavailable after being forced off against Southampton last weekend, whilst Louis van Gaal is reluctant to put a time scale on the return of Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bournemouth skipper Tommy Elphick is set to return to first-team action against Portsmouth tomorrow. The centre-half had stepped up his recovery with a run-out for the reserves earlier this week. Eddie Howe has revealed that Junior Stanislas misses out and “might not be fit for next week”, though scans have confirmed the winger’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Tony Pulis is unlikely to make too many changes for West Brom’s clash with Peterborough, with the Baggies boss set to pick “a strong team” for tomorrow’s encounter at the Hawthorns. Pulis also revealed he is looking to acquire QPR midfielder Sandro on loan, though the deal has yet to be completed.

Alan Pardew has conceded that new Palace signing Emmanuel Adebayor won’t be fit to start against Stoke tomorrow. Connor Wickham has been hit with a heavy fine by the Eagles boss for his elbow on Jan Vertonghen last weekend – the FA are imminently expected to confirm the forward’s ban for violent conduct.

James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Tom Cleverley all came through Everton’s cup clash with City without any problems and are available to face Carlisle on Sunday. Kevin Mirallas’ injury isn’t as bad as first expected, with the winger set to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the weekend.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Which one to bench gents?

    A) Ighalo (CHE)
    B) Ozil (SOU)

    My others...

Firmino (lei) - Silva (sun) - Payet (AVL) - Alli - (nor)
    Lukaku (NEW) - Aguero (sun)

He's young. Guaranteed a 2 pt after scoring a haul last week (Firminho too).

He's young, and full of energy. Playing against a leaky defence and away from home (where he usually performs better).

All true. He's a starter for me too, but with that front 8 it's an easy decision to get wrong.

I'd be considering Ighalo, Firmino and Alli.

Think the 'obvious' choice is Ighalo. I'd sooner bench Ozil than Alli, though.

          🙁

Read about his story last week. I almost brought him as a 5th mid in sympathy. Such an awful thing to happen to a couple/family, but brilliant handled by Howe and Bournemouth.

KDB injured and I wish to replace since I got Albrighton, Wollscheid or Martin to come off the bench, no FT since I had to get rid of Kolarov for a similar reason earlier. Who should I bring in for a -4? I can afford the hit.

            Bunn (Butland)
            Monreal Baines Alderweireld (Wollscheid Martin)
            Wijnaldum Alli Özil ??? (Albrighton)
            Ighalo Aguero Kane

I got 12.3m so money is not an issue. I'm currently thinking Firmino or Ayew, what would you do? Sánzhes would be tempting if I wouldn't have Özil already. Only interested in someone who has the potential to make up for the hit.

            Cheers 🙂

Planning ahead just a little, if you skip Leicester's next 3 fixtures, here is their run from gw27-gw35 :

NOR, WBA, wat, NEW, cpl, SOT, sun, WHU, SWA

So that's a dream run of fixtures that include 6 at home and guaranteed no blanks. The last 3 games (gw36-gw38) are incredibly tough but can deal with that at the time. With this in mind, what would be your ideal combo of 3x Leicester ?

              A: Schmeichel Mahrez Vardy
              B: Schmeichel Defender Mahrez

Depends on if other keepers, defenders are easy to rotate.

If all things are checked, probably A.

One of my main aims is to get 3 x Leicester in time for GW30 - that GW will be decimated with blanks, and Leicester have a plum fixture (Newcastle at home). Simpson, Mahrez and Vardy (c) that week I reckon.

Worried about City with KDB injured. However, our best run was when we had a 3 of Sterling, Kun and Navas/Silva, which was before KDB.

                    Let's hope that's true.

Contemplating between currently the three popular KDB replacements.

Sanchez - Classic Sanchez, no explanation needed. High priority but Ozil is there just in case I can't get him.

Firmino - Out of position, explosive, and Liverpool coverage if Arsenal (Ozil) & City (Kun) are already covered. IMO not a good long-term buy as he doesn't get points that often.

Silva - Pretty much perfect replacement for KDB, however not as explosive and reliable FPL wise as the other two. Still an attacking threat, but will most likely get more assists than goals. 6.1% differential makes it better.

                Thoughts?

I'd be getting Silva in, personally. This is prime time for City to go on a run that will take them to the title and you can't argue with Silva's record when he is fit.

Barkley - fixtures. even with the blank accounted for, the fixtures are still marvellous. Cheaper than the popular KDB replacements. Faith in barkley is very low at the moment which means even in team that still have him, he is a big candidate for the bench - lowering his effective ownership.

You can also consider Yaya who can possibily play in a more advabnces position because Pelle has always been careful with Silva and Aguero's game time so to me, there is a 20 min spot per match for Yaya to have goals and assists opportunities. I really consider it.

I imagine the PL have a similar set of rules

28 Postponements and Abandonments – Procedures for Re-Arrangement and Refunds

28.1 In the event of any League Match not being played owing to Football Association Cup Matches, weather or other causes over which neither Club has any control or being ordered to be replayed it shall be played on a date to be mutually arranged, but at the earliest reasonable opportunity. Both Clubs shall notify The League of such arrangements within seven days of the postponement being identified, for the approval of The League. Any League Match not so arranged shall have its date fixed by The League.
                  Read more at http://www.football-league.co.uk/global/section5.aspx#BzQFyeWcdxRvu3Vy.99

This season is different because the fixture list is tighter.

Clubs though usually take the attitude of "we'll cross that bridge when/if we come to it" in terms of fixture back-logs, rather than pre-empt it. Remember Chelsea doing this a couple of seasons ago.

It has (Liverpool v Swansea in 2013), but only because the sides involved were out of the FA Cup and they used the FACR5 weekend.

7 Days fits in with recent history - although there were a couple outside of this range which makes me think maybe the league had to schedule these as the clubs didn't bother to hit the 7 day deadline.

2013 Swansea bt Chelsea on 23rd Jan. Rescheduled match v Liv announced on 30th Jan

3rd in Ligue 1 for key passes this season. Scored 3rd most direct free kicks since 2012/2013 season. Won most penalties in same duration. Got a cracking shot on him. Plays in the hole.

Looks like he could be our version of Payet (and before anyone jumps in, no I am not saying he's anywhere near as good as Payet).

Reckon he'll likely be priced around £6m in FPL.

should've gone in for Ziyech. He's available at a cut price in a firesale. I know he wants to join a bigger club but I'm sure Sunderland could've thrown enough money at him

Just had a look at Ziyech. Seems literally everything Twente have done this season has gone through him. We haven't had much joy with players from the dutch league though and obviously depay is one of many recent imports from Eredivisie that have struggled to adapt to the prem, so maybe that's what put them off. Whereas you look at payet coming from Ligue 1 and he's tearing it up.

yeah, been involved in something like 37 of their last 41 goals.

There is that danger, and I'm surprised by Depay and still think he'll come good.

The problem is, assuming you've got Payet Mahrez and Alli, you will want to keep them for blank dgw27, so that leaves 2 spaces, one will surely be a Arsenal or City mid and the other needs to be a potential dgwer from EVE/NEW/LIV that you can bench gw27, so no room for a Chelsea mid, I'm looking at Ivanovic, seems to be getting back to his best

                            Team Is:

                            DDG Elliot
                            Bellerin Ward Dawson Cresswell Moreno

                            2FT 0.0ITB

I'm looking at a replacement for KDB. It's between Silva, Firmino, Sanchez and Wijnaldum.

I'm currently on Silva as I think everything City do going forward will pass through Silva with KDB out. Sanchez has to get minutes and show some form first and Pool are too hot and cold. Wij, not so much.

I've just realised that ever since Gameweek 14, City have won every subsequent even gameweek and have drawn or lost evry other subsequent odd gameweek.

Also the last time City managed back to back Premier league victories was back in October. (gameweek 8 and 9)

It amazes me how they find themselves in 2nd place.
