With the FA Cup Fourth Round set to kick off later tonight, there’s been plenty of press conferences taking place over the past 24 hours. Here’s the main news from the managers so far…

Kevin de Bruyne took to social media last night to confirm he will be sidelined “for around 10 weeks” with the knee injury that forced him off during Man City’s 3-1 cup win over Everton on Wednesday evening.

Francis Coquelin and Tomas Rosicky are both available for Arsenal’s clash with Burnley tomorrow – Arsene Wenger has revealed new boy Mohamed Elneny could be handed his first start, though he’s yet to make a decision on Coquelin. Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla are still “a few weeks away” from returning, though Danny Welbeck “needs a game or two” with the reserves to improve his fitness. Per Mertesacker serves out a one-match suspension after his red card against Chelsea.

Mark Noble is a slight doubt for West Ham’s trip to Liverpool tomorrow due to illness. Slaven Bilic has also revealed that James Tomkins is back in training, whilst Andy Carroll could be back playing in ten days’ time. Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho, meanwhile, are expected to return in a fortnight. New boy Sam Byram is cup-tied for the Anfield encounter, whilst Bilic has conceded that the club are waiting on the outcome of Carl Jenkinson’s visit to a specialist amid fears he could be sidelined for the season with a knee injury.

Geoff Cameron remains sidelined for Stoke’s trip to Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon. Marko Arnautovic is set to be assessed ahead of the Selhurst Park clash after picking up a knock in Tuesday’s cup encounter with Liverpool, whilst Charlie Adam has been ruled out for five-to-six weeks with a calf complaint. Mark Hughes has some good news, though, after revealing that the Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross could be back quicker than the expected three-to-four-week absence:

“Ryan is quite positive at the moment actually, he feels a lot better within himself and the area of the injury seems to be settling down. Initially we said he would be out for up to a month at the most, but we hopefully he will be back sooner.”

Fit-again Michael Carrick is set to return for United’s clash with Derby, though won’t play from start to finish after recently recovering from injury. Matteo Darmian remains unavailable after being forced off against Southampton last weekend, whilst Louis van Gaal is reluctant to put a time scale on the return of Phil Jones and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Bournemouth skipper Tommy Elphick is set to return to first-team action against Portsmouth tomorrow. The centre-half had stepped up his recovery with a run-out for the reserves earlier this week. Eddie Howe has revealed that Junior Stanislas misses out and “might not be fit for next week”, though scans have confirmed the winger’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared.

Tony Pulis is unlikely to make too many changes for West Brom’s clash with Peterborough, with the Baggies boss set to pick “a strong team” for tomorrow’s encounter at the Hawthorns. Pulis also revealed he is looking to acquire QPR midfielder Sandro on loan, though the deal has yet to be completed.

Alan Pardew has conceded that new Palace signing Emmanuel Adebayor won’t be fit to start against Stoke tomorrow. Connor Wickham has been hit with a heavy fine by the Eagles boss for his elbow on Jan Vertonghen last weekend – the FA are imminently expected to confirm the forward’s ban for violent conduct.

James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and Tom Cleverley all came through Everton’s cup clash with City without any problems and are available to face Carlisle on Sunday. Kevin Mirallas’ injury isn’t as bad as first expected, with the winger set to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the weekend.

Townsend at 5.8, could be a decent budget option? certainly worth considering bringing in for Hoolahan if DGW happens sooner rather than later..

So Jenkinson out for 6-9 months. Got to feel for the lad.

On the other hand, Byram anyone?

Well jenkinson wasn't first choice anyway, ogbonna was, plus tomkins can play RB too, so jenkinson being injured doesn't really have that much bearing on byram.

It can't be announced till after this weekend's FA Cup games, because of the possibility of Cup Replays being required in GW25.

I would expect the Premier League to make an announcement on Monday if either or both of the rearranged matches are to be played in GW25.

Is it still a good idea to buy Valencia?
Bilic - “Andy is going to be back playing in 10 days and Diafra and Lanzini in two weeks. It is looking good, they are ahead of schedule and training hard. “I watched Andy training and he is basically doing everything. “He will train with us after Liverpool on Monday or Tuesday and if he trains well he could be in the squad for next weekend.

At the end of the day it's a fantasy football website the vast majority of the questions are going to be should I get a) b) or c) for player X . One of the most highly own players in the game has been injured and there are dgw's coming up this is clearly going to be the main topic of discussion until Tuesday evening . The mods would have to ban a lot of words in order to stop people discussing this topic .

That would create a whole lot of extra work for us to do then. And how do we decide who's DGW post is more relevant. If two people ask the same question or a similar one it seems a little harsh to block one person and not the other.

As mentioned above, if it wasn't double game weeks it would be KDB. Happens most weeks that there's a single topic getting asked a lot.

Granted DGW is probably multiplied a bit but as I say - the posts can be ignored if they're that annoying.

Yeah and as mentioned above, people would undoubtedly find work arounds and you could produce an endless lists of different ways to say dgw that got blocked.

No worries, will just pass by any more posts I see on it and hope that people start to realise that nobody bloody knows anything more on the matter than anyone else at this stage.

Would it be possible to have a prominent header at the start of each page of comments making a statement about what we know about DGWs (or other currently annoying topic) or pointing to a relevant article or hot topic?

I would play Firmino for sure. It's tight between Schmeichel and Cech could go either way. I only think about individual point potential when making decisions don't care if some players face each other. It's very unlikely to have the perfect week where all your attackers get returns and defenders + goalie get clean sheets in any case.

Going out of the FA Cup may be a blessing in disguise for Leicester. United, spurs, arsenal and city will all have the fa cup and European commitments whilst trying to go for top 4. City also have the league cup final to play as well. Most likely Van Gaal will want to win the FA Cup before he gets sacked so he'll be trying for that the most.

Leicester have no other commitments and so they can concentrate 100% of the premier league. Top 4 is a very real possibility and the title is also within their reach.

If Leicester grab 6 points in the next 3 games, they'll be in a fantastic position.

That's 1.5 points per game. That's the average they need for the rest of the season. Doesn't matter what they do in the cup, top 4 is a given

So Firmino is rising tonight it looks like.

Assume Sanchez will last out until tomorrow at least?

            Currently on 80 on fplstatistics.

Should end up with mid of Mahrez, Alli, Sanchez, Firmino and Payet. Have Aguero as my City coverage for now.

I do currently have the cash to swallow a couple of price increases on Sanchez so will hold out til after the arsenal game.

Have jumped on Firmino. Risky admittedly but i have done this a couple of times through the season (Mahrez after first game as an example) and has generally paid off and allowed me to afford the team i currently have.

"You're right, William. Contrary to popular belief, Giggsy never had the option of playing for England. He was born in Cardiff to Welsh parents, and only moved to the Manchester area when he was seven.

He did captain England schoolboys when he played at that level for Manchester United but, as Mark Wylie of the Manchester United museum explains: "That was due to residence. Plenty of Scots have played for England schools. It just depends on where you go to school.""

              Easily Steve Bruce...

Since the Premier League became so multinational in the past 20 years, it seems like any English player to have a half decent run of form gets at least a cap. Hard to think of any genuinely good ones who haven't been capped at all.

Don't reckon they'd have too much trouble finding a buyer, although they probably wouldn't get a great deal of money.

Wage demands could be a thing.

I could see an Italian club taking a punt on him maybe Inter or Juve

I'd be amazed if Jurgen doesn't bin him off in summer. Sounds like he's had enough with his injuries now

Unlike germany, we don't restrict salary based on appearances if someone is out for months. So a fraud like this can sit on the bench making 100K a week and just saying he isn't fit, when his problem is he doesn't know what that even means.

I'd love Spurs to punt on him. Great player when fit.

A'noon all, GTG for tues with this lot? Saving FT and prob getting Firminho in for SUN, then Sanchez gw after.

            Adrian
            Toby - Moreno - Bellerin
            Silva - Payet - Ozil - Alli
            Kun (c) - Kane - Luka

Subs - Hennesy, Simpson, Barry, Smith. ITB = 3.2 0FT

            Ta

I would play simpson over moreno.

              Apart from that, all good.

I'd start Smith ahead of Moreno, not convince they will keep a CS.

Bony is going to be back just in time to put severe doubt in our minds regarding the DGW Aguero Triple Captaincy option isn't he?!?!

Better he stays injured until after the City DGW.

Think it's actually quite rare that Aguero gets rested when fit - even with matches in quick succession.

Yes, but with the CL fixtures also knocking about Bony could easily get a game if one of the double was against a lesser team.

I see Bony playing against Newcastle if they get the DGW. Pellegrini will want Aguero to be fresh for Spurs which will be a huge game for them.

            Butland (Elliot)
            Ward Cresswell Targett Simpsons Williams
            Payet KDB Ozil Alli Mahrez
            Kane Iggy Kun

            My plan:
GW24-25 KDB -> Silva this week to cover Sunderland fixture.
GW25-26 Mahrez -> Firmino (in asap for Sun & AVL)
GW26-27 Save, play Kane, Iggy, Payet, Alli, Ozil
            GW27-28 Payet -> Barkley, Ozil -> Sanchez, [ Optional: Kane -> Lukaku for -4]

Of course thats considering no one explodes, implodes, drop, and its not DGW25.

I bet there will be a few wildcards in play this week so don't think the rising/dropping sites are too accurate at the moment.

Yes, lots of FPL managers probably think they have to use them before the end of January.
