Aleksandar Kolarov is available for City’s trip to Sunderland. Yohan Cabaye faces a late fitness test as Palace entertain Bournemouth, Remi Garde has a number of worries as Villa head to Upton Park, whilst Jordan Henderson is expected to return for Liverpool’s trip to Leicester.

Tomas Rosicky is the only new injury concern for Arsenal’s clash with Southampton – the Czech international has been ruled out of tonight’s Emirates encounter with a thigh injury sustained in the weekend cup win over Burnley.

Remi Garde is sweating over the fitness of six players as Villa head to West Ham. The Frenchman reckons that Rudy Gestede, Libor Kozak and Carlos Sanchez will “probably” miss out, whilst he’s also uncertain over the fitness of Ashley Westwood, Kieran Richardson and Alan Hutton.

Yohan Cabaye faces a late fitness test on an ankle problem ahead of Palace’s clash with Bournemouth later this evening. Eagles boss Alan Pardew has revealed that Joe Ledley is set to miss out with a knock, whilst Connor Wickham sits out the second of a three-match ban for violent conduct. Pardew also confirmed that Emmanuel Adebayor will be in the squad, going on to say that the new boy “looks terrific” in training.

Leicester new boy Daniel Amartey is not ready to make his debut as he steps up his match sharpness, though could be in contention for the weekend. Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that Shinji Okazaki is available after recovering from a knock, though Jeffrey Schlupp and Matty James remain on the sidelines.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge, Martin Skrtel and Divock Origi are set to return to training later in the week as they step up their recoveries from injury. Jordan Henderson is expected to return, though, after missing the weekend cup clash with West Ham due to his ongoing heel problem.

Aleksandar Kolarov is available for Man City’s trip to Sunderland, though Fabian Delph misses out with a minor calf complaint.

Norwich boss Alex Neil is hopeful that Alex Tettey has recovered from illness in time for the visit of Tottenham. Gary O’Neil serves out the last of a three-match ban, whilst new centre-half Timm Klose is nearer a first start after stepping up his sharpness in training.

Steven Davis remains sidelined for Southampton’s trip to Arsenal this evening. Ronald Koeman has yet to make a decision over Graziano Pelle’s involvement, though has conceded that “it’s a possibility” he will hand Charlie Austin a first start for his new club.

Marko Arnautovic, Glen Johnson and Jon Walters underwent a light training session yesterday after missing Stoke’s cup loss at Palace due to knocks. Potters boss Mark Hughes has revealed that the trio “should be available”, providing they emerge unscathed. Marc Wilson is sidelined for 10-12 weeks with a knee injury sustained at Selhurst Park. New boy Giannelli Imbula did not sign in time to be registered for tonight’s clash with United but is expected to be available for the weekend encounter against Everton.

Ryan Mason is back in full training ahead of Spurs’ visit to Norwich. Jan Vertonghen and Clinton Njie are the only absentees, according to the club’s official website.

West Brom are optimistic on the availability of Ben Foster and Darren Fletcher for the visit of Swansea – the duo missed the weekend FA Cup draw with Peterborough due to injury. Chris Brunt remains a doubt, though Saido Berahino is expected to recover from a dead leg sustained on Saturday. New loan signing Alex Pritchard has been registered in time to make his debut.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tonight’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Tuesday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

I reserve judgement on your W/Carded team but 4 of them have a blank GW27. If you are chasing I suppose it's worth a punt.

Envy you living in Oz though (I love the place).

Saved from below the new article line:

Ramires', Gervinho's and Guarin's moves to China made me think again of how more and more of pretty decent players and managers are getting big money moves to China. These were wanted players in Europe, Guarin in particular was subject to many big bids from big clubs just summer or two ago when he starred alone in the struggling Inter. They're all at their peak age (again, particularly Guarin in his role, imo), surely still good enough to play in European big 5 leagues, if not in the very top clubs. And the money paid was just incredible.

Surely there's here a big story about agents making money on live stock, and there's a chance some of them return later to make more money in Europe. But it has also long been predicted that India and China simply _must_ rise as football powers. Could we be witnessing the beginning of the rise of the Chinese league, followed by the rise of their NT, towards the top of the world?

A few good players and managers now, bringing their experience and expertise. So far very little of European players, but they are attracting European managers. I think it's particularly when they've got enough of known players and managers to attract more of still good, experienced European players and top European managers (this happens first) that things start to escalate. Some of them surely will just be grabbing money, but some will inevitably be very enthusiastically improving the local projects. Then the level of local players rises, while the silly money they can invest will bring them more and more pretty decent South American, African and European players.

I know the managers and players who go there are absolutely biased, trying to justify their decision and pretending they're taking a top level challenge, but they're saying that there are already clubs strong enough to do well some of the big European leagues. I take that with a pinch of salt, it's probably not true. But they're definitely closer and closer, and while their investments bring their finances to big deficit, they make more broadcasting profit every year and have that cash to splash with no FFP regulations, while the financial differences are hitting some European big leagues very hard. I think mostly about the poorer clubs in Italy and France, Spain and Portugal, and I could see them losing their actually good players to China, as some of them are already losing them to Qatar and USA. Financially they already surpass these leagues.

The day when their level achieves that of the top European leagues may not be that far. Maybe in 10 years, maybe just 5 or 6. We may be witnessing a turning point. I wait to see who moves there next summer. Terry is an old player, but a certainly big name who could do very well for a club if he was engaged in its project in staff role too. But I suspect younger players going there as well.

      Very good points.

It all comes down to money. We have seen in the past 20 years English clubs and European clubs get richer and richer while huge clubs from Belgium, Holland, Scotland, Sweden, Portugal (to some extent) have not been able to compete.

I would much rather a level playing field but the damage has been done by Sky and the 'Champions' league

A lot of that damage could be undone if FIFPro win their case and transfer fees and player loaning get prohibited and clubs are given maximum squad sizes.

Football is a business, and like all businesses it needs to globally expand to compete in the current market

China and the USA have massive populations hence why all of the efforts are concentrated then.

Sadly I the worst is yet to come when you look into who is behind all of football's biggest money making decisions; oil barons, steel merchants, etc, etc.

Football imo is a scapegoat for something much bigger behind the scenes 😕 just look at the corruption in UEFA for a start

Agreed with this. A lot of that money is plain dirty. However, there's also the "natural" resources in India, China and USA, in population and in economy and they would also rise as football powers in a completely fair economy. In any event, it seems they're rising up now while many European leagues are falling.

We have waited 20 years for the MLS to rise and still mainly it's a players retirement home.

I very much doubt we will see a Neymar or a Bale moving to China or India in their peak.

      1. Camp No No
        • 12 Years

But MLS and Team USA are certainly getting better _now_. Maybe the likes of Kaka, Lampard, Drogba, Pirlo and Gerrard go there to retire, but some of these, like Kaka (and for example Cheyrou and Iraola) were just at their early 30's and still were good at Europe too, only either out of favour of their management or playing for too big a club (Kaka). There being so many of them now, maybe some of them will stay there and bring their experience and class to the organisations, helping them grow better local players in future.

More importantly, there are now guys like Giovinco who was an Italy international and starter for Juve once, but moved to MLS just when arriving to his peak age. There are many players who are not of status or skill of Giovinco, but nevertheless were at their peak age or only arriving to it and were, if not stars, at least semi-regular starters in their European sides but went to MLS, say Obafemi Martins (Levante), Reo-Cocker (Bolton, via Ipswich though) Nogueira (Sochaux), Nemeth (Roda), Collin (Vitoria Setubal), Perquis (Betis), Pierazzi (Ajaccio), and even some youth prospects like like Viana (Atletico) and Rossell (Barcelona) chose to go there despite offered contracts in Europe. I don't say that these are star level Europeans, just that these are players that were not a mere surplus, but that the European sides actually lost to MLS, who chose to go there (okay, Reo-Cocker may have become surplus by then, but it was not long after he had still played in PL for Bolton). The number of these players is growing, and they're passing the good message about big full stadiums, professionalism and good living to their European colleagues. Former Ajaccio captain Pierazzi, I recall, left during a strong season as a starter because he had always been fond of America, of USA as a nation and a place and dreamed about life in America one day. Who would have known it was football that got him there? But that may be the way for many players in future.

And the point is not that Neymar would move to China at his peak. But how about the best players at 2030? The equivalent of Neymar at 2030? The times they are a-changing. It may take some while for change to happen, but non-European leagues are becoming more and more acceptable choices for European players, now for those who don't have the star status or don't have it any more, but certainly, their appeal is growing, and at this rate, why not in 10-15 years, even less? Tomorrow never knows.

I'm having problems resisting doing Sterling>Payet. Not sure I can watch the game tonight without owning him! City are not to be entirely trusted to perform away from home, and it's a good move in prep for GW27... Just leaves me four blank GW27 players of which Luka is out if he blanks tmrw night..

I think I need to do it. If Payet racks up double figures I'll be so cross with myself!

at the moment Antonio, but Stoke has some nice fixtures few GW onwards and if fit Arnie will score some points. I am wondering if Stoke are ready to change a coach. They spend a lot of money, sign some quality players, but still not convincing. Won't be surprised if they have a good run towards the end of the season.

    Butland
    Alderwireld Evans Wollscheid
    Ozil Payet Barkley Ali

I could do with utilizing some of your brain cells on what I should do. I have this:

    Butland
    Ward Koscielny Smalling
    Payet Mahrez Özil Alli
    Agüero Lukaku Kane
    Subs: McCarthy Olsson Moreno Anya

along with 2ft and 3.4m itb. all I can think to do is:

    a) mccarthy to elliot
    b) anya to drinkwater (or other cheapy)
    c) ozil to sanchez

I'm probably going to do (a) to get a 2nd playing stopper, who happens to have a dgw, but what do you think?

It will be interesting to see if/how guardiola adapts his coaching style to the way most teams play in England. I genuinely believe he is gonna struggle for the first few seasons due to the competitiveness of the league. Next summer with all this money coming in from the tv rights is only gonna tighten things up.
Also would love to see mourinho at United. Derby would be tasty!

You arguably don't need tactics to succeed in England. Just kick and rush with emphasis on pace. LVG is known as a decent tactician believe it or not and look how that's playing out.

i dont get this,so please someone throw some light on it...i need to make 0.5 back to make a my 2 transfers so i decide to sell sagna..his price is 5.8m now but the price i have him at is 5.4m,now i presumed i would get 50% of his rise so i would get 5.6,but no it only adds 5.4?hope that makes sense

What do do with my 2 FT?

    Butland - Ruddy
    Alder - Evans - Kosc - Huth - Moreno
    Eriksen - Barkley - Payet - Siggy - Westwood
    Lukaku - Kane - Aguero

    2FT 0.3 ITB

Thinking about Westwood to Drinkwater and Moreno to Ward (Drinkwater for gw27 and 30.

    ok?
