The reduced number of weekend fixtures means there’s less options on the table for our 15-man FantasyBet squads, though with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero not around to take up a chunk of the budget, it’s an easy week to fit in the leading candidates from the remaining 16 teams.

FantasyBet’s biggest pot so far arrives this weekend and it’s still possible to enter a team into the £2,000 pot for an £11 entry fee. There are currently less than 100 entries so it’s worth getting involved to potentially benefit from the overlay, considering that the top prize is over £500.

That ‘Double Grand’ contest covers seven fixtures, with only Saturday lunchtime’s encounter between West Ham and Sunderland not included.

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyBet it is particularly accessible for those who play Fantasy Premier League, as it uses a similar scoring system.

Check out this daily and weekly fantasy guide to see how the game works.

MY TEAM

Ben Foster (4.5m)
Christian Fuchs (4.5m)
Toby Alderweireld (5.5m)
Aaron Cresswell (5.5m)
Marko Arnautovic (6m)
Riyad Mahrez (6.5m)
Dimitri Payet (7.5m)
Christian Eriksen (8.5m)
Jamie Vardy (7.5m)
Harry Kane (9.5m)
Diego Costa (10.5m)

KEY PICKS

Ben Foster: The fit-again stopper has already kept two clean sheets in his four appearances since ousting Boaz Myhill, who managed only two shut-outs in his last 13 appearances before dropping to the bench. Foster’s tally of 18 saves over that period also highlights his ability to pick up points should the Baggies concede at home to a Palace side with just four goals in their last nine matches.

Christian Fuchs: It’s difficult to see past a win to nil for Leicester at home to Norwich, bearing in mind that the Canaries have scored once in four away ties while leaking 11 goals. Claudio Ranieri has engineered four consecutive clean sheets at the King Power and full-back Fuchs looks the most likely of the Foxes defenders to pick up attacking points.

Christian Eriksen: Overshadowed at times by the cut-price Dele Alli, the Dane is finally starting to justify his loftier valuation with a series of consist displays. With three goals and as many assists in his last six appearances, Eriksen makes a strong case for inclusion ahead of Swansea’s visit to White Hart Lane.

Diego Costa: Southampton’s chances of a seventh straight clean sheet may well depend on whether they can keep Chelsea’s in-form striker quiet at St Mary’s tomorrow. With seven goals and three assists in eight league appearances, Costa’s impressive form is too good for me to ignore.

THIS WEEKS GAME PICKS

The big event this weekend is the Double Grand contest with a minimum prize pool of £2000.
If you’re new to FantasyBet you can start out by setting up teams in the free-rolls – there is a £50 pot available for this Gameweek in both the standard and flash formats.

For the six Saturday fixtures, there’s a Double-Up game for £3.30 entry with a guaranteed prize pool of £120. Multiple entries are available.

There’s a £200 contest this week for the two Sunday fixtures with a £5.50 buy-in.

LAST WEEK

It was a low-scoring round in general with little luck heading my way. Backing Romelu Lukaku with the captaincy proving to be my main downfall – this left me on just under £160 and hoping for some fortune in the big pot this weekend. Batista took top place in the Grand weekend game with 79 points; Diego Costa picked up 18 points with the armband, while Chelsea team-mate Willian’s 13 point-haul mirrored that of Dimitri Payet. A solid defence also contributed to the win, with all four of Batista’s back-line securing six points or more.

THIS WEEK’S STAKE

I’m entering the Double Grand contest, the Saturday Double-Up, the free-rolls and, of course, entering a team into the FFScout Picks League for a total outlay of £14.40.

In addition, I’ll be going up against Oghash, the Community champion in this week’s Scout Picks. He will be taking me on in a specially set up head to head game for a chance to win free entry into a £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22. Also the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.

FFSCOUT PICKS LEAGUE

Globehopper topped the Scout Picks League with a score of 82 points in the previous Gameweek. Captaining Philippe Coutinho delivering a massive 30 points, while Willian (13) and Virgil Van Dijk (nine) were the stand-out picks elsewhere.

Once again, FantasyBet have provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League with a £1.10 stake for entry – it is now possible to enter two teams into this contest. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected.

Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

"Newcastle say they should be informed of a date for postponed league match with Man City “on or around March 10” --As the premier league have to give 6 weeks notice for rearranged game does this mean the Newcaslte V Man City game cant be GW34?

Well the premier league gave this statement when rearranging Arsenal V Leicester game.

"A Premier League statement last night admitted they usually give six weeks’ warning when rearranging matches and in response a section of Leicester supporters are planning to boycott the first five minutes of the match in protest at the late change."

Exactly. The Premier League just do it anyway. They have re-arranged games with just 2 weeks notice many times.

Hi guys, got 2FTs and with 1.8mil ITB - looking to change some of my defenders:

    Butland - Hennessey

    Kosc - Wolly - Williams - Ward - Dawson

Was thinking Dawson out and Ward out?

Who to bring in - TOT and LEI defence? Alderweireld and Fuchs? Or should I just get Dier instead of Ald?

    Many thanks.

      1. Zizoulicious
        • 10 Years
        10 years, 4 days ago

not really, but I agree getting rid of him is not exactly ideal.

        Butland
        Bellerin Ivanovic Rose
Ozil Payet (c) Mahrez Alli Sanchez
        Kane (vc) Ighalo

Forster Francis Simpson* Aguero* 2FT 0.2 itb

Obviously want to get Vardy in for Ighalo, but need monies. So could do these moves to afford it:

        - Bellerin -> Targett
        -Ivanivic -> Wollscheid
        - Sanchez -> Eriksen AND Rose -> VVD/Wollscheid (-4)

Hmm it is a tough one, definitely not worth a hit as Ighalo could easily match or better Vardys score this weekend.
Personally right now I am not keen on Arsenal assets, so getting rid of Sanchez or Ozil to enable the Ighalo->Vardy would get my vote.

thanks. If I could bring in eriksen for Sanchez, then that would definitely be my route. But I already have three Spurs! Not keen on any other mids tbh.

Also United without a lot of key players is good news for Sanchez. And there's still a chance they don't blank gw30..

As IM said it is not madness but it is bold. He could be behind Kane this weekend with Kane in the "double pivot" so that should be good for his returns.

Glen Johnson definitely out for 4-5 weeks, so who to get in

    a) Wollschied (but no ShawX)
    b) VVD (plays Chelsea)
    c) Daniels

and who to bench from Kos, Smalling and Ward?

That depends on your whole team...but Johnson to VVD looks like a good move..If you are up for a Punt you can get PvA as well,

I was benching Smalling because United have been poor defensively recently...but they might defend harder against big teams..and also not sure whether he is fit to start the next game.

            full team

            Schmeichel

            Kos, Smalling, Ward

            Ramsey, Sanchez, Payet, Alli, Mahrez

            Iggy, Kane

I would do Johnson + Ramsey ---> VVD + Willian (both long term moves)

or you can take a 2 week punt on a Stoke player as well, you have that much freedom

Triple captaining Vardy against Norwich is mouth-wateringly tempting

Norwich goals conceded in last 5 = 15
Vardy has 4 goals and an assist in his last 5

Unless Norwich sit deep and he can't run behind their defense.

It also sounds like Norwich could be looking at this game much more defensively versus trying to open up the opposition and consequently getting burned, but yes, NOR's defense is atrocious all the same
