The reduced number of weekend fixtures means there’s less options on the table for our 15-man FantasyBet squads, though with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero not around to take up a chunk of the budget, it’s an easy week to fit in the leading candidates from the remaining 16 teams.

FantasyBet’s biggest pot so far arrives this weekend and it’s still possible to enter a team into the £2,000 pot for an £11 entry fee. There are currently less than 100 entries so it’s worth getting involved to potentially benefit from the overlay, considering that the top prize is over £500.

That ‘Double Grand’ contest covers seven fixtures, with only Saturday lunchtime’s encounter between West Ham and Sunderland not included.

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyBet it is particularly accessible for those who play Fantasy Premier League, as it uses a similar scoring system.

Check out this daily and weekly fantasy guide to see how the game works.

MY TEAM

Ben Foster (4.5m)
Christian Fuchs (4.5m)
Toby Alderweireld (5.5m)
Aaron Cresswell (5.5m)
Marko Arnautovic (6m)
Riyad Mahrez (6.5m)
Dimitri Payet (7.5m)
Christian Eriksen (8.5m)
Jamie Vardy (7.5m)
Harry Kane (9.5m)
Diego Costa (10.5m)

KEY PICKS

Ben Foster: The fit-again stopper has already kept two clean sheets in his four appearances since ousting Boaz Myhill, who managed only two shut-outs in his last 13 appearances before dropping to the bench. Foster’s tally of 18 saves over that period also highlights his ability to pick up points should the Baggies concede at home to a Palace side with just four goals in their last nine matches.

Christian Fuchs: It’s difficult to see past a win to nil for Leicester at home to Norwich, bearing in mind that the Canaries have scored once in four away ties while leaking 11 goals. Claudio Ranieri has engineered four consecutive clean sheets at the King Power and full-back Fuchs looks the most likely of the Foxes defenders to pick up attacking points.

Christian Eriksen: Overshadowed at times by the cut-price Dele Alli, the Dane is finally starting to justify his loftier valuation with a series of consist displays. With three goals and as many assists in his last six appearances, Eriksen makes a strong case for inclusion ahead of Swansea’s visit to White Hart Lane.

Diego Costa: Southampton’s chances of a seventh straight clean sheet may well depend on whether they can keep Chelsea’s in-form striker quiet at St Mary’s tomorrow. With seven goals and three assists in eight league appearances, Costa’s impressive form is too good for me to ignore.

THIS WEEKS GAME PICKS

The big event this weekend is the Double Grand contest with a minimum prize pool of £2000.
If you’re new to FantasyBet you can start out by setting up teams in the free-rolls – there is a £50 pot available for this Gameweek in both the standard and flash formats.

For the six Saturday fixtures, there’s a Double-Up game for £3.30 entry with a guaranteed prize pool of £120. Multiple entries are available.

There’s a £200 contest this week for the two Sunday fixtures with a £5.50 buy-in.

LAST WEEK

It was a low-scoring round in general with little luck heading my way. Backing Romelu Lukaku with the captaincy proving to be my main downfall – this left me on just under £160 and hoping for some fortune in the big pot this weekend. Batista took top place in the Grand weekend game with 79 points; Diego Costa picked up 18 points with the armband, while Chelsea team-mate Willian’s 13 point-haul mirrored that of Dimitri Payet. A solid defence also contributed to the win, with all four of Batista’s back-line securing six points or more.

THIS WEEK’S STAKE

I’m entering the Double Grand contest, the Saturday Double-Up, the free-rolls and, of course, entering a team into the FFScout Picks League for a total outlay of £14.40.

In addition, I’ll be going up against Oghash, the Community champion in this week’s Scout Picks. He will be taking me on in a specially set up head to head game for a chance to win free entry into a £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22. Also the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.

FFSCOUT PICKS LEAGUE

Globehopper topped the Scout Picks League with a score of 82 points in the previous Gameweek. Captaining Philippe Coutinho delivering a massive 30 points, while Willian (13) and Virgil Van Dijk (nine) were the stand-out picks elsewhere.

Once again, FantasyBet have provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League with a £1.10 stake for entry – it is now possible to enter two teams into this contest. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected.

Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

    Afternoon chaps,

My new job has seriously depleted my FFS time, up to now I could spend 1 hour on a Friday to sort my team out for the upcoming GW but with all the blanks and stuff I'm really struggling with what to do! Any help would be really appreciated.

    Butland

    Bellerin, Cresswell, Dawson, Daniels
    Ozil, Payet (C), Mahrez, Alli
    Kane (vc), Ighalo

    Hennessey, Barkley, Lukaku, Moreno

Who would you bench?! I definitely wouldn't take a hit. Maybe just the Vardy and Fuchs moves. Siggy can wait a couple of weeks - take a look and his and Barkley's respective fixtures next week.

    MH on Ryan Shawcross' injury...

"Ryan isn't quite there, but he is progressing. Slowly, but the key is he is getting better. He needs to be careful and we understand that. We want to bring him back fit and strong and make sure he can come through the remainder of the season. The injury isn't at all linked to what happened last season. I just think it is a consequence of the amount of high intensity games he has played in a short space of time. I don't think it is anything to worry about long term."

There's something not quite right about Arnautovic at the moment. So many attacking options at Stoke and he always seems to be a little ill at the moment. Just not sure about him. Plus having him in my team means benching Alli or Payet in GWK 28. Happy to play Sigurdsson this week, have him in place for GWK 30 and his kind run, plus bench him for GWK 28 v Arsenal.

I'm benching him GWK 28 anyway. He's a rare 'gut' purchase this week for me. Just fancy him to get something over his old club, who he has already scored against this season and will be without their midfield lion Dembele.

Ah yeah being able to bench against Arsenal does help. Interesting about the gut feeling, as players do tend to up their performances against old teams and stuff. By the way Jonty, to fund Ighalo -> Vardy, would you:

          A) Bellerin -> Targett
          B)Ivan-> Wollscheid
          C) Sanchez -> Siggy (which I don't really want to do lol)

For me I don't like the look of Stoke rotation. There's no denying Stoke have two great fixtures - but who will get the points? Walters? Arnie? Joselu? Perhaps Bojan? Shaqiri?

With Sigurdsson I know I'm getting a player that's central to their play. With Stoke they have too many options for me.

Hi Jonty, I'm listening to the Scout Cast atm. Surprised you didn't mention that there'll be blanks in GW 35 in your discussion on when to use the chips.

Also, I'm not a fan of getting rid of Aguero, there's a decent chance he'll have a DGW in GW 34 (and he doesn't have a GW 30 blank), if that happens Man City players will be essential.

Well, we did say that it was early days - we don't even know for sure when the doubles will be. Also I think GWK 30 is the bigger more pressing issue. But yes any wildcard/chip strategy needs to take into account that some teams will miss gwk 35 too and play twice in GWK 37.

The blanks in GW 35 are the main reason why WCing in GW 36 and BBing in GW 37 looks like the best strategy atm.

I think Balders had the scene covered in his HT to WC in GW33 and still have full DGWers in both 34 and 37.

Yep...careful planning makes this easier. I think the BB is best used whenever more teams have a dgwk. I'm looking forward to 15 dgwk players.

I'm fairly sure there'll be either be 8 or 10 teams with a DGW in GW 37.

do you think it makes sense to use 2nd Wildcard for GW34 then as it wont take much planning to get 15 DGW players if 8 or 10 teams have a DGW?

I think he's great. Just avoiding gwk 30 blank players currently. I'd have got him in if he wasn't missing a fixture. Good fixture this week - excellent one next week.

Just my sort of player - the best in his team - which tends to mean heavy goal involvement and bonus.

Jonty, I need 0.6 to upgrade Paloschi > Vardy.
Would you swap out Sanchez > Siggy or Arnie for -4 or downgrade Bellerin to find the funds?

Alternatively I could just go Aguero > Vardy for free this week and look to get Aguero in for wk 29. By then hoping to have the funds to go Pal > Aguero.

downgrade Bellerin. He's been hopeles for a while - odd clean sheet but nothing else.

Stoke/Sou/Lei defenders are all cheaper and all great. Daniels good too - plus plays GWK 30.

For that price I want more - I want bonus and assists and the odd goal.

Remember in that price range he's competing against the likes of Dann - goals, Daniels - assists and bonus, Fonte and VVD - bonus magnets in excelsior and Huth and Fuchs - two more who are getting more.

Also Arsenal's fixtures are n't great and unless Hull become better suddenly they will miss GWK 30.

Ever since I 'downgraded' Bellerin to many of those above I've climbed the rankings.

I swapped him for Kos a few weeks back, it hasn't worked so far but I think it will long term

we know Kos has goal threat and loves a BAP or 2.

              my current defence is

Kos, Smalling, Ward, Simpson, Johnson, and Johnson is going to VVD

Ward is like Raylor, I just can't flush him

Don't think you can include Dann in that list - he's averaging 3 ppg over the last 8 compared to Bellerin's 5 ppg.

The others are fair enough as the clean sheets for Southampton and Leicester have been relentless and Daniels had that one crazy game against Norwich but describing Bellerin as 'hopeless' is a tad harsh!

I demand the retraction of Dann from that list!

                  £5.9m for scores of 0, 2, 0, 1, 6, 9, 1 and that includes 2 goals! No clean sheets in 2 months - Palace are a mess.

the way I am playing a similar gap is to captain someone he hasn't got, providing I rate them for armband. I would rather try and take 15-25 points back a week rather than chip away with captaining one of his players.

That's what I've been doing last couple weeks as well. Problem for me is that every week he's buying another one of my players. Very, very frustrating.

He's made 3 transfers this week, and he didn't have Vardy or Payet, so you know he got them both in to make our teams even more alike

That's exactly what he's doing. Crappy tactic though doesn't make it very enjoyable.

I'm doing my best to shake up my squad every week to make it different and somehow it ends up looking the same again.

    Butland
    Gabriel, Huth, Cathcart, Azi
    Willian, Ozil, Mahrez ©, Alli
    Costa, Vardy

Once you have a solid bench option coming on in case Gabriel doesn't play, then gtg. I'm captaining Vardy but good luck

MH on his ambitions for the coming two home games...

"We are on track this season and are level with where we were at at this stage last season. In terms of what we spoke about at the start of the season we are in good shape. We have a good opportunity coming up with back-to-back home games. It seems a long time since we played at home. The Everton game was a disappointment so we want to move on from that and try to take six points from the forthcoming encounters. That would put us in a real strong position moving forward."

      😆

assuming I get Siggy this week I have 3 options next week

    a) bench Siggy (ars) and play Iggy (mnu)
    b) play Iggy (mnu) and bench Siggy (ars)
    c) don't save a FT and sell Iggy

all other options means I need a hit to get 11 out in GW30
