We call upon Stoke and Norwich’s wide men in our search for some overlooked Fantasy gold this Saturday morning. City’s Ivorian frontman also gets the nod as Manuel Pellegrini’s men look for a vital victory at Carrow Road.

Nathan Redmond

In the event that Norwich harvest enough points to stave off relegation this season, one would imagine that Nathan Redmond (5.0) will have played a key role in that narrative. The ex-Birmingham City winger – who’s still top of the scoring charts (five) at Carrow Road – followed up his composed finish against Chelsea with a lively performance in a 1-0 defeat at Swansea, alerting us to his blossoming confidence.

In terms of his influence over the last two Gameweeks, no midfielder amassed as many shots inside the box (six) as Redmond. Even when extending that range to encompass the previous four Gameweeks, only Alexis Sanchez managed more efforts in the penalty area (11) than the England U21 international (eight), demonstrating his current propensity for drifting into dangerous areas.

Notwithstanding the fact that Norwich drew blanks in four of their last six outings, it’s worth keeping in mind that they’ve only failed to score at Carrow Road on one occasion since Gameweek 10 – incidentally, that fruitless afternoon came against the league’s tightest defence (Spurs). Furthermore, only five sides have accrued more big chances in home matches than Norwich (26), so it would be remiss to assume that Man City’s rearguard will enjoy a relaxing encounter.

Beyond this weekend, though, the schedule smiles kindly on the Canaries. With proverbial six-pointers at home to relegation rivals Sunderland and Newcastle and a trip to struggling Palace in the subsequent four, the Norwich winger has the platform to help fire his side to safety.

Wilfried Bony

Following a trio of defeats, Manuel Pellegrini switched to a 4-4-2 system for Manchester City’s home tie against Aston Villa last Gameweek, affording Wilfried Bony his first start of the calendar year. Bearing in mind that City had failed to score more than once in each of the previous four, Saturday’s 4-0 win may well persuade the Chilean to retain a two-man frontline for the trip to Carrow Road.

Furthermore, with a Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev in midweek, Pellegrini may also look to utilise the depth of his squad, starting Bony this weekend before switching to a lone-striker system against the Ukrainian outfit in order to protect a 3-1 first-leg away lead.

Delving into the data, although Bony failed to grace the scoresheet at Villa Park, he supplied an assist and was heavily involved during his 62-minute stint: among all forwards that clocked at least 20 minutes last Gameweek, the Ivorian ranked third with regards to shot frequency (one every 12.4 minutes). Moreover, only Aguero chalked up more shots inside the box (seven) than his strike partner (five) in the previous round of fixtures.

This weekend’s hosts Norwich rank joint-third for goals conceded (22) and joint-top for big chances conceded (28) in home match-ups. In addition, no side has tallied fewer clean sheets (three) than the Canaries this term, illustrating their inability to batten down the hatches. Couple that with David Silva’s recent resurgence (two assists against Villa), and Bony emerges as an enticing differential for seeking out a short-term gamble.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Despite turning out the occasional virtuoso performance in his debut top-flight campaign, Xherdan Shaqiri (6.4) has lacked the consistency to establish himself as a key player on the Fantasy market. Having delivered attacking returns (one goal, two assists) in three of his last four outings, though, the Switzerland international is certainly addressing that shortcoming, elevating our confidence in his attacking potential prior to Southampton’s visit.

Looking at the underlying statistics, four of Shaqiri’s total tally of shots on target this term (10) arrived in the last four Gameweeks, with only three midfielders mustering more during that time frame. As for his creative output, the former Bayern Munich recruit also charted joint-fourth for key passes (12) in his last four, underlining his capacity for assists.

In an abridged Gameweek where most Fantasy managers will be focused on securing their Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Man City coverage, exploring the Potters’ attacking potential could separate many from the pack. Saints are far from pushovers, but they’re winless in three matches and have to contend with the absence of the suspended Jose Fonte, reducing their chances of stifling the hosts.

For gaining 3 BAPS he should be the best according to FPL and I dont know how could you tell Aguero gonna be their best player.

Best player in the match , i.e , Man City vs Norwich

I am not sure Kane WILL be the best player against Villa. Midfielders more likely to get BAPS

Midfielders are not more likely to get baps, strikers are (assuming they score) mainly as they get significantly more baps points for a goal, which is exactly the reason why Aguero is the most likely to get the bonus in the City game, and in turn is the reason why Kane is the more likely in the Spurs game for me. This is assuming they both score which I think they will. This aside, I think Kane will score heavier this week.

Aguero has much higher goal involvement than Kane. City can score less goals than Spurs and Aguero could still outscore Kane.

Aguero has a vastly superior minutes to goal ratio of any other player in the league. He plays Norwich.

This season Aguero has required 30% less shots on target to score the same number of goals as Kane (For those looking at stats)

            Blimey, that's true.

In previous seasons the golden rule was to captain RVP every week, regardless of fixture. The top strikers always find a way to score, their consistency is unmatched. All about the quality.

You see Aguero in a 1-on-1 situation you'd bet your house he scores. Not a chance I'd do the same with Kane.

IMO , Aguero gets more chances and better quality chances , hence scores more goals. Do not see much difference between their finishing tbh. Kane shoots a lot of his shots from OUTSIDE the box . See this table

Well rested for a reason. Pod will go all out to get a cricket score this weekend. Title could come down to go a different.
              Alli and demeble are back.

Lying in bed awake, mulling captain choice for this week and can't decided who to go for. I've got VAK up top but I've got underlying issues with captaining them:

Vardy (NEW) - he does love to score at the KP, but not been red hot lately and worried about the new manager factor at Newcastle.
Aguerrrooo (nor) - on fire and the obvious choice, but how many minutes will he get cos Champs League midweek? And will city smash in the goals after he takes his jacket to the bench??
Kane (villa) - villa are gone, and should be ripe for plundering, but Spurs do love a lull after Thursday night action.

I'm currently on aguero, but it's frying my brain. Any thoughts???

They won't take Aguero off unless 2 goals up I'd say. He has been invoked in 60% of their goals when he's on the pitch which means he won't be subbed unless he's scored 1.2 goals already (statistically).

Basically it's likely he'll be involved before he comes off assuming they win.

I, however am on Kane. Rested for this game, the team need to react after midweek to prove the team selection was right, and, most importantly, villa are atrocious.

Bit of a coin flip between those 2 in my opinion. Vardy I agree just misses the cut due to your reasons.

They all link to points scored as that's the main usage. You can check and take snapshots at about 12:15 at fantasyfix or a few other places. Using rivals functions.

Thanks for the suggestion but on weekends I'm normally asleep at 7:15. I think my only solution is bookmarking opp's transfer history page to see what changes occurred.

If you capt Kane and Aguero smashes it it will hurt you more than the other way way round, both in points and self abuse. You know it's true

Why would it hurt more if Kane has higher ownership? If Kun blanks and Kane gets a hattie?

    Butland
    Huth - Kompany
    Mahrez - Alli
    Aguero - Vardy - Kane

What are the chances of Aguero being subbed of around 60 minutes because they have CL fixture in the midweek and even when they have a comfortable gap, they wont be taking any risks. On the other hand, Spurs are coming back from a massive setback and they would be hungry for some good performance specially when they have a rare shot at title. Confusing.

Wouldn't it be a gift for FPL players if the 2 games NOR vs MCI and AVL vs TOT were on different Gws.. 2 good attacking team playing 2 relegation battlers who concedes heavily..
Real (c) dilemma all over here..

Some would argue that's the fun of it, while others will say its a matter of chance..

I've been planning my GW30 since 3-4 weeks ago, and with a bad (c) choice, I can blow all my work away.. Some fielding less than 11 players might end up with higher score than me just for the (c) choice! 🙁

Yet, I'm going Kane.. Poch showed that he is prioritizing PL and they are better attacking than MCI.. Norwich still can save themselves from relegation, at least still battling down there, while AVL is as good as dead.

      sorry, reply fail

but to answer your point it's been plaguing me all week - I have the same front three as virtually everyone in my mini league and 11 playing (pending rose) with no hits. They have 8 or 9 playing, or 11 with 2 to 3 hits.

But if I captain Harry and they Captain Kun and we have a blank/hat trick situation I'll be soundly beaten and the whole thing will have been pointless!

It's the most difficult captain decision of the season so far
