We call upon Stoke and Norwich’s wide men in our search for some overlooked Fantasy gold this Saturday morning. City’s Ivorian frontman also gets the nod as Manuel Pellegrini’s men look for a vital victory at Carrow Road.

Nathan Redmond

In the event that Norwich harvest enough points to stave off relegation this season, one would imagine that Nathan Redmond (5.0) will have played a key role in that narrative. The ex-Birmingham City winger – who’s still top of the scoring charts (five) at Carrow Road – followed up his composed finish against Chelsea with a lively performance in a 1-0 defeat at Swansea, alerting us to his blossoming confidence.

In terms of his influence over the last two Gameweeks, no midfielder amassed as many shots inside the box (six) as Redmond. Even when extending that range to encompass the previous four Gameweeks, only Alexis Sanchez managed more efforts in the penalty area (11) than the England U21 international (eight), demonstrating his current propensity for drifting into dangerous areas.

Notwithstanding the fact that Norwich drew blanks in four of their last six outings, it’s worth keeping in mind that they’ve only failed to score at Carrow Road on one occasion since Gameweek 10 – incidentally, that fruitless afternoon came against the league’s tightest defence (Spurs). Furthermore, only five sides have accrued more big chances in home matches than Norwich (26), so it would be remiss to assume that Man City’s rearguard will enjoy a relaxing encounter.

Beyond this weekend, though, the schedule smiles kindly on the Canaries. With proverbial six-pointers at home to relegation rivals Sunderland and Newcastle and a trip to struggling Palace in the subsequent four, the Norwich winger has the platform to help fire his side to safety.

Wilfried Bony

Following a trio of defeats, Manuel Pellegrini switched to a 4-4-2 system for Manchester City’s home tie against Aston Villa last Gameweek, affording Wilfried Bony his first start of the calendar year. Bearing in mind that City had failed to score more than once in each of the previous four, Saturday’s 4-0 win may well persuade the Chilean to retain a two-man frontline for the trip to Carrow Road.

Furthermore, with a Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev in midweek, Pellegrini may also look to utilise the depth of his squad, starting Bony this weekend before switching to a lone-striker system against the Ukrainian outfit in order to protect a 3-1 first-leg away lead.

Delving into the data, although Bony failed to grace the scoresheet at Villa Park, he supplied an assist and was heavily involved during his 62-minute stint: among all forwards that clocked at least 20 minutes last Gameweek, the Ivorian ranked third with regards to shot frequency (one every 12.4 minutes). Moreover, only Aguero chalked up more shots inside the box (seven) than his strike partner (five) in the previous round of fixtures.

This weekend’s hosts Norwich rank joint-third for goals conceded (22) and joint-top for big chances conceded (28) in home match-ups. In addition, no side has tallied fewer clean sheets (three) than the Canaries this term, illustrating their inability to batten down the hatches. Couple that with David Silva’s recent resurgence (two assists against Villa), and Bony emerges as an enticing differential for seeking out a short-term gamble.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Despite turning out the occasional virtuoso performance in his debut top-flight campaign, Xherdan Shaqiri (6.4) has lacked the consistency to establish himself as a key player on the Fantasy market. Having delivered attacking returns (one goal, two assists) in three of his last four outings, though, the Switzerland international is certainly addressing that shortcoming, elevating our confidence in his attacking potential prior to Southampton’s visit.

Looking at the underlying statistics, four of Shaqiri’s total tally of shots on target this term (10) arrived in the last four Gameweeks, with only three midfielders mustering more during that time frame. As for his creative output, the former Bayern Munich recruit also charted joint-fourth for key passes (12) in his last four, underlining his capacity for assists.

In an abridged Gameweek where most Fantasy managers will be focused on securing their Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Man City coverage, exploring the Potters’ attacking potential could separate many from the pack. Saints are far from pushovers, but they’re winless in three matches and have to contend with the absence of the suspended Jose Fonte, reducing their chances of stifling the hosts.

The Newcastle romp and 2 away games.
Guess how many goals scored by City away in those games?

      Hi TM.

Against Stoke it's worth noting that Aguero didn't play, and prior to that game Silva had played 16 minutes football in the previous two months so was very rusty.

Yaya was one of several factors so I wouldn't conclude anything from that.

That just leaves the Liverpool game. Sample size of one.

Dier (avl) Huth (NEW) Kompany (nor) (Daniels (SWA))

Dier is marked as yellow, will he play 90 min? Have Siggy, that's one reason not to start Daniels. Would you have the bench order in any other way?

Depends on how many other players you both have. You don't really need more than a couple (good) differentials to make up ground, and Silva will probably be involved in assisting a lot of Aguero's goals.

Aguero because he's Aguero. And if you have Kane you won't miss out that much because they'll probably do similar.

I always say if you can't make the decision flip it around. Who would you be most scared watching when you haven't captained them and others have?

For the first time in two seasons, thanks to planning that seemed careful but now seemed a bit foolish, I will be play a 5-3-2 formation...

No hits, one transfer... and I somehow need Eriksen to cover the Kane captain chasers...

    Butland
    Kompany Daniels Williams Huth Toby
    Eriksen Mahrez Siggy
    Kun (c) Jamie

Don't fancy the chances of a Swans cleanie - Bournemouth are a useful side playing with confidence.

      Butland

      Yaya, Mahrez Alli
      Kun (c) Vardy

It's a risk worth taking if your planning to WC in GW36/GW37 IMO

Speaking to loads of guys yesterday at work who started setting at their teams yesterday, realising they only have 5-7 starters. This could be a good week for us more 'prepared planners'
    Fingers crossed guys.

I'm caught between wanting to get 11 (currently 9) and also knowing that the more starters we have this week, the more DGW players we'll need to switch back in for a few weeks time.

Elaborating on Kane vs. Aguero (C) dilemma:

    Kane

    Pros
    1. Rested
    2. On pens (no misses recently)
    3. Alli is also rested (better support in attack)
    4. Plays Villa that might give up and leak badly, after the first goal gets in
    5. Small chance to be subbed off before 80th minute
    6. Spurs need that win to stay in the race
    7. Spurs need that win to bounce back from the trashing in Dortmund
    8. Will be a differential (C), as much more managers will (C) Aguero just to go with the crowd

    Cons
    8. Needs more time for SoT
    9. Wastes many chances by shooting from outside the box
    10. On 4 YC
    11. Often isolates from the game for long periods

    Aguero

    Pros
    1. Rested (no midweek game)
    2. On pens (missed last one though)
    3. Has the assist machine Silva next/behind to him
    4. Needs less time to score or SoT
    5. Plays Norwich, which are far from the best defending teams
    6. In general - natural born striker and FPL points aggregator
    7. FPL managers favourite, so a haul from him means major drop down in the rankings

    Cons
    1. Fragile hamstring
    2. Huge chance of being subbed off around 60th minute if the score is good enough
    3. City away form is scaring

It came out longer than I thought, but just trying to make up my mind between the two. Hope it will help someone.

        My first captain strategy was
        1. captain Kun no matter what the scenario.
2 Lately I have been thinking captain anyone against Villa.

This was stated mainly for those who think of bringing him in. Besides that, Poch may instruct him to play less aggressively, as he doesn't want his best striker out even for a game.

        0.0 ITB

so to swap either ozil or firmino i will leave targett or swap for a hit.

Or if i swap targett, still leaves me only playing 10.

Ship out Monreal IMO. Their defence has gone bad after all the player injuries. Targett has a 50/50 chance.
