We pop out to the Weekly Shop for our final Wednesday article, as we analyse the player lists of our partner games to highlight the likely targets that will make up our own weekly squads.

As per usual, the player analysis is split into two sections: I’ll break down the key targets that no squad can do without in “Better Buys”, before seeking out those one-shot “Poundstretcher” prospects that can provide us points, whilst freeing up funds.

For this week’s selection, we’re focusing on the FantasyBet and DraftKing player lists.

Better Buys

Given that Crystal Palace have lost their last five consecutive home matches, conceding 12 goals in the process, they face a tough task to halt Leicester City’s charge for the title as the league leaders visit Selhurst Park this weekend. Against Newcastle, Kasper Schmeichel (FantasyBet 4.5m, Draftkings $4,000) kept a third clean sheet in four league outings, while investment in the usual outfield assets also looks set to continue returning points.

Craig Dawson (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $4,200) is expected to be fit for West Brom’s encounter with Norwich City as he looks to add to his three-goal haul this season. If the right-back misses out, though, Jonas Olsson (FantasyBet 4m, Draftkings $2,200) or Gareth McCauley (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $2,100) could be worth considering. Alex Neil’s side are struggling for goals, having failed to net in five of their last seven matches, so clean sheet points look on the cards for the Baggies’ rearguard.

Swansea may have fallen to defeat to in-form Bournemouth but Francesco Guidolin has overseen a revival in the Welsh side’s fortunes of late, picking up back-to-back wins prior to the encounter at Dean Court. A home tie with basement-dwellers Aston Villa is a promising opportunity for the Swans to distance themselves from a relegation scrap and they offer us strong options at either end of the pitch. Ashley Williams (FantasyBet 4.5m) has been the stand-out defender, picking up 20 points from seven clean sheets, whilst Gylfi Sigurdsson (FantasyBet 7m) has been the main goal threat, scoring seven times in 11 appearances since the turn of the year.

Harry Kane’s (FantasyBet 9.5m) season appears to be on an upward trajectory as Spurs head into the run-in with a chance of silverware. The forward’s double against Aston Villa leaves him one strike short of the 20-goal mark ahead of a home clash with a Bournemouth outfit that’s kept only three clean sheets on their travels. Encouragingly, Kane has produced double the number of shots on target than Sergio Aguero (12 to six) over their respective last four matches.

Poundstretchers

Watford’s win over Arsenal in the FA cup could kick-start their league form after a recent run of inconsistent displays. Considering that eight of the Hornets’ ten shut-outs this campaign have arrived at Vicarage Road, Heurelho Gomes (FantasyBet 4.5m, Draftkings $3,800) and his backline clearly prefer home comforts, and the visit of a Stoke side that have blanked in half of their last eight away ties bodes well for the Brazilian shot-stopper.

Kevin Wimmer (FantasyBet 4.5m) makes another appearance in the bargain picks – the defender helped Spurs to a first clean sheet in five at Villa Park and remains a budget route into the meanest defence in the division. Eric Lamela (FantasyBet 6.5m) may not have the allure of more obvious picks such as Dele Alli (FantasyBet 5m) and Christian Eriksen (FantasyBet 8.5m) but the Argentine is quietly having a productive season with three goals and five assists tallied so far. Over the last six, he’s recorded far more shots in the box (12) than Eriksen (five) and Alli three), despite registering less pitch time ahead of the home clash against Bournemouth.

Rafa Benitez’s appointment should make the Tyne-Wear Derby an even more compelling clash, with both clubs’ top-flight status hanging in the balance. Jermain Defoe (FantasyBet 5m) picked up an eleventh goal of the term to secure a valuable point for the Black Cats at Southampton – the veteran forward has scored five of Sunderland’s last seven away goals and appears the most likely to dent Newcastle’s hopes. Wahbi Khazri (FantasyBet 6m) also continues to impress – a total of 39 crosses, 14 chances created and 11 attempts on goal over six appearances suggests further points are incoming if he can shrug off a knock.

We now turn to a pair of assets from a West Brom attack that has been surprisingly prolific of late. Midfielder Craig Gardner (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $4,200) has scored twice and served up an assist over the last three, while forward Salomon Rondon (FantasyBet 6.5m, Draftkings $4,200) has recorded four goals and an assist in five starts for the Baggies. Both could prove good value with opponents Norwich yet to keep a shut-out in 15 away ties.

Diego Costa’s two-match suspension brings Bertrand Traore (FantasyBet 5m, Draftkings $3,300) into our thinking once again. The youngster was on the bench for the weekend defeat to Everton but having scored four goals and picked up an assist over five outings in the league and FA Cup for the Blues, he could be poised to lead the line as West Ham visit Stamford Bridge.

These are the contenders for my weekly contest lineups heading into the midweek fixtures. Tomorrow I’ll also bring you up to date on my progress in FantasyBet, as I continue my quest for profit in the 2015/16 campaign.

Is Steven Taylor on anybody's radar for GW34? Only 3.8 and seems nailed on for Newcastle in defense..

Perfect enabler and allows you to play a 4-4-2 with a full XI in GW35 @ Home to SWA paired with a Pool, City, and Arsenal defender.

He's only nailed on because of injuries surely? He's only played 2000 minutes in the last 3 seasons and is very injury prone too.

I have had a rethink on this and don't think it is worth a hit. Azpi has avl in 32. Neither silva or sanchez in great form and similar fixture difficult for next 2 weeks.

Why are people rushing to get Lukaku with Arsenal and United in the next two?

    Just curious!

Been wondering the same thing. Selling Vardy too ahead of Palace. lol

Trying to beat the price rise if tight on funds is the best guess.

    Thoughts on 34 bb team
Note I don't have WC - limited transfers so leaving in Kompany and Collins for now hoping they will be back in time. Main weakness is 7 players for 35. I justify this by having 3 eve and 1 cpl and hope this fixture is in 35. Anyway team is.

    Hennessey Robles
    Kompany Collins Simpson Rojo Olsson
    Firmino Payet Ozil Mata Lennon
    Sturridge Aguero Lukaku

what is your team atm ?
do you have any chips left?

7 players for gw35 sounds kinda scary

great attacking potential with a man you attacker

Lot different team right now. Will take 3 hits to get this 34 team. I could get 8 or 9 out for 35 if I leave in Mahrez instead of one midfielder. Who would you lose for Mahrez? I could also leave in Targett and not have rojo. I have no WC but have BB and TC. Thanks. yes mata a punt as is Sturridge and Lennon.

rojo should be good and if lucky 2 clean sheets (man u fan me)

so maybe play triple captin week 34 without taking hits and then prepare for the BB wg37 with 6 free transfers on the way?

ozil/sanchez/lukaku?? as triple captain maybe even aguero?

Im happy to share this team for 34, any thoughts?

    - Targett is an enabler but do have .4 left
    - Martial is bit of a punt, the Man u fixtures are so good
    - No Sanchez
    - Will Rojo get 2 games?
    - Roubls to Elliot if fixture is off the week after

    DDG/ Roubles
    Bellerin/ Ward/ Targett/ Olsson/Rojo
    Ozil/ Mahrez/ Yaya/ Payet/ Firminio
    Martial/ Aguero/ Lukaku

    .4 left

Looking at it now the defence is pretty poor, any suggestions welcome!

Get a Pool defender. Yaya > Milner should free up some funds to improve defence.

    HI guys
I have just spent hours creating my w34 team
do you have any thoughts ?
should i put Olson for Lovren?

    Thank a lot

    de gea,(schmeichel)
    sagna,monreal,(lovren),smalling,cresswell
    ozil,payet,firmino,(mahrez),lennon
    aguero,lukaku,(kane)

The biggest decision is keeping Kane or not. If you do keep him then you make an ok team. If you get rid of him and spread that cash you get a good team. Imo.

Schm to Roubles if the next fixture is on
      Prob keep Lovren if back
Unsure on Lennon but why not?

        thanx sab

i keep him for sure but he on my bench as i am going to play BB (schmeichel,mahrez,kane-do not have a double week but they good enough )

i have also realised i can play clyne instead of lovren as he much safer

lennon in as he on a good run atm but that can change so may go lukaku, barkley instead

        thx for your comment

I like the UTD double defence and Lennon punt. Leave Lovern if back I think. Maybe Better having only 3 defenders in 34 - another way of saying Kane is a decision as per other reply.

LIV pool defence not the greatest so why not Mahrez. There will be players with no dgw's scoring high. Could be goals in that lei v hammer 34 match. I posted my team further up the page would like you feedback. Thanks.

mahrez great potential vs clyne/sagna 2 games

            something to think about

You reckon it's worth saving my WC till 36 if I can get this team for no hits in GW34? Would TC Ozil and have 9DWers with Kane and Vardy. Will also get a decent 11 out in 35 before WC 36 and BB 37.

    Elliot
    Bellerin, Kompany**, JEvans
    Sanchez, Ozil, Firmino, Antonio*
    Aguero, Vardy, Kane

    Hennessey, Simpson, Wolly, Alli

    * Antonio & Vardy could also be Mahrez & Ighalo
** if injured then I still have 1FT which can be used to get Smalling for GW34

Cheers. Could that potentially be in GW34? Would be surprising for them to agree a TGW right before an FA cup semi. I'd have thought they will put the remaining fixture into GW36, which would be ideal from a GW36 WC!

Think the 34 dgw had better TC options and you have all the important weeks cover as required. I think it is the way to go - if I had WC. The point usually brought up about this the possibility of rotation if bb in 37

I think it's pretty close and being able to have 5 from LEI & TOT for Gw35 is a huge plus. The downside being not having Payet, Lukaku or United defenders (although I suspect we will see some rotation from these teams ahead of the FA cup semi)

I think I might prefer the below to the above - only 8 DGWers but Mahrez, Vardy & Kane can all score big in a SGW and they have a plum fixture in 35.

        Elliot
        Bellerin, Moreno, JEvans
        Sanchez, Ozil, Firmino, Mahrez
        Aguero, Kane, Vardy

I meant to add that a big advantage of this approach is the quality of the GW35 team - will likely mean:

      Simpson (SWA)
      Alli (WBA)
      Kane (WBA)
      Vardy (SWA)

      (All fighting for the title)

Instead of cheap GW34 DGW fillers with no blank in 35 (eg WBA players away TOT, NEW players away at LIV and SUN players at home to ARS)

Could even keep Mahrez as well and ignore WHU until GW36 (downgrading Kompany instead)

You can still keep those and get 11 DGW players and play BB.

Yeah that's an option too, but if not maximizing the BB in 34 I think the fixtures that week are better suited to a TC (Ozil or Sanchez if signs of improvement)

          Both good options though!

Forgot to say, I've used my WC already, so I need to start bringing in DGW players! Wanted a Newcastle player cause of fixture this week (and subsequent weeks) but couldn't trust picking Ayoze or Mitrovic so had to go with Wignaldum. Can't sell Ozil obviously. Lingard is my cheap 5th and United have a DGW. And can't sell Siggy this week. Prefer Alli to Bournemouth + Alli is cheaper and will prob keep for season.

So, that left only Mahrez I could get rid of. I have Vardy as backup atm but Leicester are grinding out 1-0's with lots of different players scoring. As a Spurs fan too, it'd be nice to have no Leicester players in my team!

I have no WC either. I understand where you are coming from. I just took a hit to get Lukaku in for Vardy!!! TV critical did it just before lukaku rise.

    For GW 34:

    (1) 10 DGW'ers + Mahrez (without WC, No BB)- only need to use up 4 FTs for that

    (2) 14 DGW'ers + Mahrez (WC, BB)

    (1) or (2)?

If I do 2, it would be difficult to get many DGW players for 37. But no certainties on who will start on GW 37?

    To anyone familiar with City:

Can Kolarov regain his first-team spot over Clichy? Unfortunately, I have him and it would make my job a lot easier if I didn't have to transfer him out during one of my Pre-GW34 Free Transfers.

Think i've got a pretty good gw34 side (WC gw33) with 1.2m itb

    Cech, Robles
    Sagna, Dawson, Sakho, Nyom, Gabriel
    Ozil, Payet, Firmino, Coutinho, Yaya
    Aguero, Lukaku, Sakho

Only 5 have blanks in gw35 (Robles, Nyom, Payet, Lukaku, Sakho (striker))

with 2FT in GW35 i can field 11 easy. Sakho----> 7.4 or less means i can play a 442 and then will have another ft in case of an injury.

    Any suggestions?

If you could only field 7-8 for 35 would you leave Mahrez in and not replace with Ozil or mata. Keeping Mahrez means one less hit, one less dgw player for 34 but extra 35 player. I have no other Arsenal or MAN UTD attacking cover for nice 34 fixtures. So keep Mahrez and if so have Ozil or Mata?

    1. BootlegRascal

Ozil (CPL, WBA) or Mahrez (WHU, SWA) +4

Toss a coin, honestly. I prefer the latter (points in the bank), especially if you can put the funds to good use.

      1. BootlegRascal
        • 13 Years

Oh, well Ozil has a GW35 fixtures so it's (CPL, WBA, sun). That evens it out more...

I would dismiss Mata from that though, he's got one less game & you'd take a hit.

Thanks considering the 35 fixtures I think I will have Ozil and Mahrez and leave Mata out. Sorry if I was unclear. Choice really is Ozil and Mata. Or Mahrez and one of Ozil or Mata. Might have find another way to cove man utd attack for nice 34 fixtures.

Yeah sorry, thought you only had room for 1 of the 3. Ozil over Mata as he has an extra game, and Mahrez over Mata as he has a 4 point buffer + 2 decent fixtures himself.

I think I've worked out my front 8 for 34-36, however, due to my low team value it's the defence I'm really struggling with.

I'm thinking something like Bellerín - Rojo - Janmaat (Williams*, Wolly*)

Anyone have alternatives at a similar price range? I will need to put at least 2 of them out in GW 35.

Swansea and stoke fixtures really poor in 35. If you replace Rojo with someone dgw and playing 35. LIV defender is best possibility for that budget I think new at home in 35

Agreed. I'd play Bellerín (sun), Williams (lei) & possibly transfer a Spurs defender in. Not the best, but it seems okay on paper.

Yeah already have Mignolet so don't really want 2 LIV at the back. Wish I'd transferred in a defender instead of him last week when I was looking ahead.

    How's this for GW34 side?
    De Gea Elliot
    Bellerin Rojo Simpson Cresswell Dawson
    Lingard Payet Firmino Silva Mahrez
    Kane Lukaku Aguero

No WC, but will take me just one -4 to get there. Considering Vardy over Kane and Wijnaldum over Lingard, poor TV. Kompany's injury has really screwed me over.

Exact scenario for me no TC and owned same 3 man city players. Got the 34 games for city that just had to happen but Kompany injury. I am going to leave Kompany in and hope he makes it back on time. If not will make another change prior to 34. I prefer Kane and Lingard as it is now. Thanks for Lingard optio. Kompany for Bellerin or Ivanovic as this GW's FT or roll the FT and play VvD (LIV) in place of Kompany - sort out transfers the following GW with 2FTs? (also have Forster - so it'll be a SOT defensive double-up at home to Liverpool)
