We’ve been left hanging for weeks but finally, on 3pm on Tuesday, we were handed the Double Gameweek details and could begin our planning in earnest.

This week’s ScoutCast is dominated by double Gameweek chatter, as your community queries hone in on the variables, strategies and planning involved in exploiting the fixture pile-up to the full.

I’m joined by Jonty, Andy and Luke as we attempt to make sense of it all, turning to a virtual flipchart to digest and communicate some of the options on offer.

It’s hardcore stuff that takes into extra time in an exhaustive 80-minute episode.

This was first aired live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday evening, Be sure to subscribe in order to get wind of future broadcasts.

You can view that live version via the larger player below, or indulge on the directors cut audio stream via this link or the smaller player.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No wildcard for dgw. Which move is best this week?

    Vardy to Ighalo or Lukaku?

      Vardy to Luk, no doubt

Would hold that transfer due to Vardy better fixtures in next thtree - if you can take the expeced Lukaku price rise

    Good morning !

Just looking at Balders excellent fixture ticker for the run-in, and the prospect of and Alexis or Özil TC in GW34 appears enticing compared to TC options in GW37. Is this enough, combined with option of keeping Kane/Alli/Mahrez, enough to sway you away from the WC33 BB34 strategy?

Tough. Higher upside on on BB 34. That's the reason I WC after all.

I'm hoping the Eve/Cpal fixture allocation will solve my TC dilemma.

Yes, Everton -Palace in DGW36 or TGW37 would certainly sort out the TC issue. Hopefully we will know before we have to decide on whether to choose WC33 or WC36.

THe fly in the ointment is that it prevents taking punts in GW31/GW32 (e.g. Siggy this week, Traore next), since I'd have to use all FT's + a couple of hits with a look to DGW34.

          1. Christina.

You need to WC in 33 to enable a possible TC/BB in 34.

So punt in 31 and 32.

My thinking was that if TC'ing in GW34, better save the WC for GW36 to get a decent BB in GW37. But of course, one could use WC33 TC34 strategy with four DGW37 players on the bench, and then use FT's to get 15 DGW37 players.

surely you would need to take a lot of hits to get 15 though for DGW37 if you did the 4 DGW37 players on the bench, and then use FT's to get 15 DGW37 players.

Don't foget I'd still have DGW34+37 players on the field in addition to the 4 on bench Haven't really looked thoroughly into it.

I think we might be over estimating the BB effect. I will be happy with 16pts.

If my memory serves me well; articles at the beginning were stating AOA hardly worth anything. BB is a gamble and can disrupt your side going forward and TC has most value.

Not really looked at the WC implications as I don't have one. I would be interested in the strategy for GW37 when a WC is used GW34 and probably a bench boost. There could be a money spread that has to be rectified.

Both approaches good. I'm wildcarding gw32 to load for good gw32 fixtures also. I'll be happt to BB and also regular captain the person the TC brigade captain. A form of hedging.

Kdb prior to his injury only had one score of 7 away from home. He only has 2/6 at home between 34 and 38. And one of those are Ars.

No idea why you have O'Shea but Taylor is a very poor pick. As you still have your WC, I guess the Jags > Williams move won't affect you since you can easily load up on your DGW players later so go for that imo. No better fixture too.

    1FT.

Defence is in shambles, even for next week. But I understand the value of having 2FTs over the break (WCing GW33)

    Butland (McCarthy)
Bellerin - Smith - Morgan (Kompany* - Targett*)
Siggy - Mahrez - Eriksen - Alli (Ozil)
    Kun - Kane - Vardy

    A) Kompany > Ivan/Williams punt
    B) Save & start smith for a likely 1 pter

    Hart
    Koscielny Clyne/Jagielka(x2) Ivanovich

X2 means 2 DGW and saving my wildcard would allow me to match the 2nd place team later in the season to ensure the championship, or allow me to change my team and go for it if I somehow lose my 63 point lead.

Asked last night but I could use some more opinions. For gameweek 34 would you rather have Mertesacker and Alli or Bellerin and Lingard? I initially thought the latter two but I'm starting to think Alli is a better option than Lingard, despite having only one game. Lingard isn't even guaranteed two games. I've no wildcard so it would save me a hit too.

Who do you guys reckon instead of Mertesacker for about 5.3? Actually got 5.5 with the other transfers but want to give myself a cushion in case of price rises.

Dunno, he's like United Alli, being a creative influence. At~4 4m, he's a great enabler. Hope he'll get 3-4/4 dgw matches.

Well, I have 2 FT, and I would want to spend none, since I am building my team for GW34 and would want to wait till after the international break, but I must spend one now.

    Team currently is:

    Butland, Ruddy,
Bellerin, Otamendi, van Dijk, Huth, Nyom,
    Ozil, Mahrez, Sigurdsson, Arnautovic, Alli,
    Kane, Aguero, Vardy.

    2 FT, £1m ITB.

***Other than a keeper transfer, what options do I have here?

Are you looking to get just the 11 out for the DGW or BB?

Goalkeeper transfer the obvious one - Ruddy to Mignolet? Could play Butland in 32 and Mignolet in 33.

Out of your front 8 you have 5 SGW34 players - could look to ship one of them on? Is Vardy to Lukaku a possibility?

Yeah, with only three or four double gameweek players right now, ten or eleven is about the best we can hope for I think. Wouldn't want to go taking any more hits than even that would require. I've got one free too and I'm saving it this week. This is my current team with the proposed double gameweek replacements in brackets.

          Butland, Elliot
Fuchs, Williams (Funes Mori), Daniels (Bellerin), Azpilicueta (Clyne), Kompany (Dawson)
Payet, Mahrez, Ozil, Sigurdsson (Firmino), Alli (Lingard)
          Kane, Aguero, Vardy (Lukaku)

With that line up, I have eleven double gameweek players and I only have to make one transfer to get eleven out the following week. Still have good single gameweek players there for 34 so I might still play my bench boost.

That's the kind of thing you might want to look at doing?

So any fellow non BB owners out there but still have WC (must be a few of us Toby's left) What's the concencous on strategy? Can get 11 for GW34 with a couple of hits and then fancy a GW34 TC and then WC37. This WC the GW before worries me somewhat. Balders help, your article is great but covers and rightly so BB owners arghhh

    Butland (wat)
Dier (BOU) Williams (AVL) Fuchs (cry)
Ozil (eve) Siggy (AVL) Alli (BOU) Mahrez (cry)
Kane (BOU) Vardy (cry) Aguero (MUN)

Elliott (SUN) Payet (che) Wollscheid (wat) Cathcart (STK)

Can't see an immediate need to swap anyone. Perhaps Elliott-->Fabianski (AVL)? Tricky fixtures this GW.

When every Liverpool attacker is fit, what is their best front 6?

    ---------------------------Can----------------------------Henderson
    --Milner------------------------------Firmino-------------------------------------Coutinho
    ---------------------------------------Sturridge

**But then, Lallana has been decent recently as well. So if he plays one of the two DGW games, who does he replace... Sturridge? Coutinho? Milner?

Playing either as false nine or CAM, that makes me feel Firmino is the safest bet.

I have been thinking about the restrictions I seem to meet when trying to do a GW 34 BB team. So I thought what could I make a GW 37 BB team up as and I thought this looked interesting

    Mignolet
    DDG
    Coleman
    Smalling
    Cresswell
    PVA
    Ivan
    Barkley
    Firmino
    Willian
    Coutinho
    Payet
    Lukaku
    Ighalo
    Costa

Easily within budget 15 DGW players and not a budget player in sight

    Hows this lot looking?

Not using WC till GW36 so have to plan to field 11 DGW in 34

    Hart
    Williams VVD Huth
    Mahrez Payet Eriksen Siggy
    Aguero Kane Vardy

    Hennesey/Bellerin/Daniels/Hoolahan

I would do what you are if I had a WC. It seems the consensus is GW33 but I am still to be convinced.

What worries me though is that most teams that have plum DGWs have too few nailed-on players. And they might be getting even fewer as the season progresses

      Firmino, Payet and Lukaku?

right, but when you try and get 15 of them with enough that actually start gw35 and have a second DGW things look way different. Of those 3 pretty much only Payet is safe as WHam will probably want to keep it going for their last days on Boleyn Ground. The others might be sacrificed in the league to be fresh for other competitions

How many sacrifices are you making on your ideal team to fit budget and fixtures?

Boring games benefits defenders. Bench boost benefits primarily defenders as you have more of them.

I don't think you will suddenly see B teams put out across the board tbh
