If I were to lose Ozil for KDB (as I now have Sanchez)... freeing up an Arsenal spot, would you invest that in Welbeck or Gabriel?

    I'm thinking the latter actually.

However, if not Welbeck, I'm forced to pick a 3rd striker of sub 8.6M (and can't buy Utd or Everton players due to ML rules)

    Robles - Mignolet
    Bellerin - Clichy - Mangala - Smalling - Simpson
    Sanchez - Ozil - KDB - Coutinho - Lennon
    Sturridge - Lukaku - Rashford

    Tear it apart please:)

    Right,

I've had Sanchez when Ozil was the one to have, and now I've had Ozil and Sanchez is the one to have.

Should us Ozil owners sit? Is he still getting chances, set piece, etc..

I've two frees, am thinking of just swapping back.

I'm going with Sanchez. Ozil will always get chances but Sanchez is getting back in form and the potential for explosiveness makes him a better choice imo.

What's your pick of Man Utd defenders? Rojo or Smalling or Darmian? Not considering DDG.
Most people here seem to prefer Rojo, is Darmian worth the extra outlay?

Its a bit hard really. Neither Rojo or Darmian are nailed on and you'd probably want to keep them for the GW37 too no? Unless you want to sell them for an equally risky Chelsea defender in GW35. Smalling and DDG are the only certainties really if you want to carry them till GW37

Getting a United defender/GKer will be well worth while if you can make it work with player numbers. United will continue to be consistent on the clean sheet front.

I think the problem is there are only 3 ARS spots.

      1-2 of Sanchez/Ozil looks a must
      1 defender looks a must

Which leaves the final spot for one of Ozil/Sanchez, Gabriel or Iwobi. Right now it's Gabriel for me since there are plenty of other great midfield options out there at the moment.

      1. Coldplay
        • 13 Years
        9 years, 8 months ago

1 defender is a must, I agree, but Gabriel is a defender. A defender, one of Alexis/Ozil and Iwobi sounds nice to me. Especially when you have the likes of KDB coming back and Kane showing form, who might as well be kept.

Yeah that's true. Although Gabriel and Iwobi taking 2 ARS spots feels a bit risky to me, especially when there are some other enablers out there, such as Lanzini, Antonio and possibly Rashford, to get all the big guns. Are you keeping Kane on your WC?

          1. Coldplay
            • 13 Years
            9 years, 8 months ago

Probably. Very tempted to go Lu Ka Ku for the DGW. None of the other DGW strikers appeal to me and Kane with his recent hauls could be as good as a DGW player. If I go Iwobi, I'd probably go Bellerin ahead of Gabriel though. Lanzini is also a good shout.

  8. Jøssy ⭐
    • 11 Years

    Getting there now.....

    Mignolet - Gomes
    Sakho - Bellerin - Fuchs - Gabriel - Delaney
Coutinho - Payet - Sanchez - Lanzini - De Bruyne
    Aguero - Kane - Vardy

I hadn't planned to buy Gomez, but he rotates really well with Mignolet, giving me AVL and SUN fixtures in the run-in.

The above leaves we with 8.6M to replace Vardy (and I can't buy Utd of Everton players).

    Any advice?

Gael Clichy - an option worth considering?

He seems way above Kolarov in the pecking order (started 8 of the last 9), has a decent attacking threat, is a BP whore, is only 5.3m and, as well as having a DGW in 34, he has plum fixtures in 33 (WBA) and 35 (STO).

I think we might be getting a bit too concerned with the whole "he's not nailed so no way" line of thinking. I expect Clichy to be rested for at most 1 game over that period, and he has really good upside. He's currently in my WC draft anyway.

    1. Coldplay
      • 13 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

He's in mine too. Though Kolarov coming on and scoring yesterday was a bit disappointing, but still think Clichy at his price could be worth it. Otamendi is too expensive.

    2. Fowler23
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

If the CL matches are on a knifes edge, Kolarov will get a run in the league if Pellegrini feels Clichy is more important in the CL.

No one knows. It's a typical risk and reward. I've been burnt too many times over the last 3 seasons when I have had one and the other is selected.

Yeah, agreed. Worth also noting that Clichy has only come off the bench once all season, so for 33 and 35 I would guess he either starts or doesn't feature at all. Which could be seen as both a good and a bad thing! 🙂

Is Bolaise really an option - NOR, EVE, ars, man - four games over the next two GWs.

What would you look for - a goal, an assist and a CS point, plus bap or two? That's 18/19pts - 9pts per week. Is that reasonable?

      Nah, not for me.

He's averaged 3.5 ppg so far, which would mean on average he'd get 14 points over the double double. Then factor in (i) fatigue/rotation with 4 games in quick succession, (ii) that 2 of those 4 games are about as hard as they come (ars, mun), and (iii) CPL's dire form - I'm not going anywhere near.

He's in for me. Planning to remove in 34 for Liverpool mid though.

Think the first double is as good as it gets for fixtures. Second pretty bad

He also does like scoring versus weaker sides I believe. Norwich and Everton have attacking full backs maybe giving him some space on the break. Assuming he's lazy and doesn't track them.

You shouldn't always judge individuals but rather a CB partnership. Communication is a more critical element and I think he and Lovren have a better understanding and complement each others skills better than any partnership involving Skrtel.

Individual mistakes pale in comparison to collective mistakes. CB's aren't always the most skilled technically but they need to be skilled organisationally.

Nice!! How are you feeling about your WC?

And (maybe) more importantly, how are you feeling about mine? 😉

Looks good to me, I'm quite sure I couldn't afford this team. You're not keeping Mahrez? Could do Vardy ---> Mitrovic/Ighalo/Deeney instead.

                Mine is looking like:
                Mignolet, Robles/Darlow
                Bellerin, Sakho, Gabriel, Smalling/Janmaat/Reid/Delaney/Mangala
                Özil/Sanchez, Firmino/Coutinho, Mahrez, Payet, Barkley/Bolasie/Lingard
                Aguero, Lukaku, Kane/Martial/Sturridge

                Still quite unsure 🙁

I was convinced I was keeping Mahrez throughout, right up until yesterday, when Lanzini delivered again, and KDB exploded back on the scene, and I sought out some extra funds.

I could go cheaper on the Vardy replacement and keep Mahrez... time will tell... Scary selling him, but I'm starting to think Lanzini could outscore him.

Hard to comment on your team... So many question marks still. It's hard though isn't it!? Especially when your team's in such good form. I'm currently on my 11th straight green! 😀

So, I've got a bit of a "problem" in GW 33.. Who do I leave out?
Sanchez (whu), Mahrez (sun), Coutinho (STK), Bolasie (NOR/EVE), Barkley (wat/cry), Lukaku (wat/cry), Kane (MUN), Aguero (WBA)
On wildcard now, bench boost in 34. Rate My Team says to bench Sanchez, but that just seems silly.

Guess I'll have another look. Maybe get in a long term replacement for Bolasie with double in GW 34 and game in 35.. Still some fiddling to do. Will be a long week.

    Better keeper this week?

    Forster vs Newcastle (H)
Robles vs Wattord and Palace (A)

That's tough, but if it's not Robles on a DGW, then you need a better DGW keeper.

I assume you're not Bench Boosting then?

Or is this a, "should I bother signing Robles" question?

Keeping Forster and VVD for the Villa game in 35. TC Lukaku this week.

I aways go cheap on my keepers. Rather have defenders for Arsenal United and maybe City in their doubles

I would go with Robles. Newcastle seem to have a bit more about them offensively under Rafa, and Robles should have at least 4 points from playing two games.

Currently on this for the WC. Which would you prefer for the final 2 spots? 18.0 ITB.

    Courtois Robles
    Bellerín Clyne Huth Clichy Janmaat
    Payet Barkley Coutinho Sánchez ...
    Kane Lukaku ...

    A. De Bruyne & Pato/Gayle/Welbeck/Mitrovic
    B. Iwobi & Agüero

    A) Firmino and 4 points
    B) Bolasie and swap for Firmino in 34 with a hit or 10 players in 35?

Firmino can be rested GW33. Maybe play only 20-30min that week. Because he surely start against Dormund.

Right not sure I can be bothered thinking about this anymore. Reckon I'm kinda all set with WC.

My plan will require not a single injury/suspension/rotation for the next three GWs and I'll be flying without:

    Sanchez - Sivla & Kdb - Firminho & Countinho - Payet & Lanzini - Kane & Alli

Will need Milner & Bolaise to score monster hauls and Sakho & Migs to keep back to back CS.

    I'm foooked.

How does this WC team look

    Mignolet Robles
    Bellerin Moreno Delaney Sakho Gabriel
    Sanchez KDB Payet Coutinho Bolasie/Barkley
    Kun Lukaku Mitrovic

Bolasie for gw33 and then Barkley comes in.

    Thoughts on my WC Team?

    Mignolet
    Funes Mori, Clyne, Simpson
    Sanchez, KDB, Iwobi, Mahrez
    Lukaku, Aguero, Kane

Gomes, Bellerin, Lingard, Rojo; 0.0 in the bank

Couple of thing I'm looking to change are Clyne and Rojo

3rd striker position is the toughest for me.

Aguero and Lukaku nailed with the remaining spot going to one of:

    A) Kane - bang on form and chasing down a title and a golden boot. No doubles, no problems (although the lack of money is)

    B) Rashford - if he starts and scores again today he goes favourite for me. But it's risky.

    C) Deeney - cheap, nailed, on pens, good 33 fixture and in reasonable form. Going under the radar a little for me, as is Iggy.

    D) Mitrovic - on form and on pens. Meh fixtures and rotation question mark

    E) Welbeck - better ARS options out there for me. Chance of rotation with Giroud.

    F) Defoe - great stats and in form. poor fixtures before a 37 DGW though.

    G) Martial - is he on pens? If so could be a good option.

Probably right, but it likely means no KDB for me for WBA, DGW, STO.

Whilst there are good doubles options the clincher for me is the non dgws when I take kane into account. I really don't want to be without kane as I think he, along with mahrez, could punish anyone who ditches.

Martial is on pen if he didn't miss any before next GW.
