Fresh from a confidence-boosting draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Manchester City invite West Bromwich Albion to the Etihad Stadium. The Sky Blues tasted defeat in three of their last four home ties, while the Baggies are unbeaten in three road clashes.

Courtesy of two 4-0 wins, Manchester ranked joint-third for goals (eight), second for attempts (78) and top for shots inside the box (53) across their last four matches. Offering further incentive to invest in the Sky Blues’ attack, they’ve amassed nine more goals (39) than any team in home encounters. Conversely, Manuel Pellegrini’s squad have struggled to batten down the hatches on familiar soil, surrendering the tenth-most big chances (24) while managing just five clean sheets.

Underlining their paucity of attacking threat, West Brom ranked joint-bottom for attempts (33), bottom for shots inside the box (17), joint-bottom for big chances (two) and bottom for shots on target (five) across their previous four fixtures. With regards to their defensive prospects, only four teams have conceded fewer goals in away ties than the Baggies (16), which suggests that the hosts are unlikely to deliver a thrashing.

    Missed the Arsenal game today

How did Gabriel play despite them conceding 3.

    Safe for the DGW?

Two of the goals were deflected off him. One could have actually been saved by Ospina.

They could rotate Mert back into the side.

Not nailed on but fairly safe of more chances in the side.

Arsenal couldn't cope with Carolls aerial ability at all, West Ham also had two disallowed goals and Lanzini's in particular should have stood.

Nah. There was interference from the lad who tried to flick the ball and it was clearly in the line of sight of the keeper. Its offside imo

What do we expect from Gabriel who had a horror show and could have been sent off today? I think Wenger would be dumb to play Mert against the pacey Palace wingers. However against the big and physically strong WBA players who only play for set pieces, I can see Mert playing that one. Anyone agree?

Henry was asking about how City lacked Nasri's creativity. Nasri then said that with himself, Silva and KdB out the team are predictable with Raheem and Navas as they always go for the space. Should be up on the sky website in a while.

I'm thinking of maybe not making my intended Bolasie > Lanzini transfer and getting Iwobi in. However, that would mean selling Gabriel (who may not play both games now anyway)

    A) Lanzini & Gabriel
    B) Iwobi & Clyne/Cresswell

    What do we think?

    1. S.Kuqi
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

Might do the same and get Iwobi and Clyne.

Knee jerky perhaps but I'm fed up for this season

        That's what I'm thinking. Feels knee-jerky.

Lanzini could easily score as many as Iwobi. Touch-and-go.

And potential Gabriel could outscore a Liverpool defender in one game.

I deliberately didn't admit that, in case it tainted the responses, but yeah.

I don't know mate, I like Lanzini and fancy him to score in the DGW. I think Gabriel will play at least 1 and stand a good chance of a CS.

But you reckon that Iwobi outscores Lanzini in the DGW, and Clyne actually outscores Gabriel, even if the latter only plays one game?

Especially considering it's for a hit.
