Having assessed the first five teams set for a pair of Gameweek 34 fixtures earlier in the week, we now cast an eye over the remaining candidates.

In order to qualify for our members table analysis, each player must have featured in at least three of their sides’ last seven league fixtures and produced a minimum of four attempts on goal over their last four league appearances.

Can see myself going until the end of the season without:

    Alde
    Sanchez - KdB - Coutinho/Firminho
    Kane - Vardy

    That's pretty frightening....

see... i would never even have this idea... because now you've had it... and folks will say it's a bad idea... but is it really?... it is impossible to know until later... and what if it is a good idea and you listen to the majority that think it's wrongheaded... then you'll feel hard done by... but what if you do it and the people who advised against it were right, then you'll think you should learn to listen...

the thing is, you've really opened up a lot of opportunity for disappointment and regret now... best to think about unpopular ideas that go against FFS trends less... that's my thesis...

and no, I wouldn't do it... but it's the time of year when I go with the obvious... it's just too late not to... leave it to others to chase points and fall further behind while you rise with the cream of doing the boring moves others think won't help you move up the table...

      that's my thesis

    Robles, Darlow
    Sakho, Delaney, Smalling, Gabriel, Simpson

    Robles Mignolet
    Ivanovic Dann Bellerin Simpson Kirchhoff
    Ozil Payet Mahrez Bolasie Lingard
    Lukaku Aguero Kane

Got 2 FTs and £0.9m banked

Ivanovic > Smalling will be one of my transfers, Bolasie will be another but to who?

    A) Coutinho/Firmino (will need to downgrade Dann -4)
    B) Milner (keep Dann for the double, sort out in 35)

Agreed... but Firmino doesn't blank in 35 and has another DGW in 37... so loading up on Liverpool assets has time to pay off even if you run into a rotation issue along the way.

Jonny Evans at 4.5 says hi (DGW 34, doesn't blank in 35)

I do agree, i would be commiting to the mid until the end. Im honestly barely considering Cout/Firm, leaning more towards Milner due to nailedness and somewhat explosive. I guess it depends on the lineup tonight but i do like Coutinho's prospects as a no10.

Ive had Dawson for 90% of this season haha, not going back to WBA! Might gamble on Moreno for a second time this season...i just cant give him up

Anyone else think there is far too much emphasis on trying to field 11 players for GW35?

Looking at the fixtures, it seems to me that once you have a key 9 players (that most will have for DGW34 anyway) then you should be fine.

    3 x Liverpool (Three of Mignolet/ Clyne/ Sakho/ Lovren/ Milner/ Coutinho/ Firmino/ Sturridge)
    3 x Arsenal (Three of Cech/ Bellerin/ Gabriel/ Ozil/ Sanchez)
    2 x Leicester (Two of Schmeichel/ Simpson/ Fuchs/ Morgan/ Huth/ Mahrez)
    1 x Aguero

I think that covers where the points are likely to be and saving a FT or two allows you to plan a lot better, not only for injuries/ suspensions, but for DGW37

    1. djpete

True but he is very expensive and the likelihood is that most won't be able to do a straight swap to him for Lukaku/ Martial (though I would want both back for their remaining fixtures from GW36-38)

West Brom are always a dodgy team, never know which side is going to turn up. Hoping by then the league will be more or less wrapped up

      1. Bøwstring The Carp
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 9 months ago

The difference is that we had a WC to draft them in though

By GW35 we'll have 1 or 2 precious free transfers that many will blow to field a full 11, bringing in stupid picks like Darlow and co. just to bring the numbers up.

Quality over quantity, so yeah I agree overloading on DGW players is also a risk, but a calculated one that can see so much gain

        1. Murder on Zidane's Flo…
          • 14 Years
          9 years, 9 months ago

But if we are talking about making a choice now, I don't see it as unreasonable to consider acquiring an additional performance (to be executed in gw35), versus having no appearance at all.

In this situation; where we will be undermanned in 35, a DGWer who blanks in 35 offers the same number of performances as a SGWer 34/35 with the advantage of reduced rotation risk and a better rested team.

Upvoted. Good, big picture post. Of course, the more "impact" players, up to 11, one has, without taking (too many) hits, the more likely they are to outscore their opponents. In addition to your outline of a core 9, Kane vs. West Brom or Pelle vs. Villa could be huge in gw35.

Bench boost. 3 players from teams fighting for title and a keeper who just got one of the highest keeper hauls of the season.

It looks like you're trying to spend the money. Just go for one of the better lower priced players

Just noticed something that gave me a chuckle. The most anticipated and exciting FPL double gameweek in history...kicks off with Norwich V Sunderland 🙂

    Mignolet / Robles
    Smalling / Bellerin / Gabriel / Lovren / Simpson
    Sanchez / Coutinho / Payet / Lennon / Lanzini
    Aguero / Martial / Lukaku
    0 ITB

Going to transfer Lennon out to Iwobi so I need to get rid of Gabriel, what defenders should I look at for 5.3? Need someone with DGW34 and GW35.

GW33 WC'er, DGW34 BB'er here. Full up on ARS and LIV already. Like many others, considering options for Lennon. Which do you prefer?:

    A) Lennon > Alli (have just enough, loses 1 DGW'er, but fills 1 of 2 holes in GW35 11)

    B) Lennon > Iwobi + Gabriel > Fosu Mensah -4 (keeps DGW34 dream alive, requires another hit to ensure GW35 11)

    C) Lennon > Iwobi + Gabriel > Fuchs/VVD -4 (loses 1 DGW'er, but fills 1 of 2 holes in GW35 11)

I think you could also phrase this question in another way... Which combo scores more in DGW34?:

    A) Alli + Gabriel

    B) Iwobi + Fosu Mensah -8

    C) Iwobi + Fuchs/VVD -4

      it's tempting.

it would cost me -4, since that free transfer was earmarked to get me up to 11 players
for gw35, which i would still do.

if i were positive LVG would start him twice, i'd do it myself.

    Evening guys, my current team:

    DdG / Darlow
    Bellerin / Walker / Lovren / Delaney / Simpson
    Sanchez / Ozil / Coutinho / Bolasie / Lanzini
    Aguero / Kane / Lukaku

My original plan was to do Bolasie -> Milner for this week as I have the exact right amount for that move and will give me 11 starters for GW35. Will obviously wait to see how tonight's match goes.

I'm also considering due to his terrible DGW fixtures, Delaney -> Fosu-Mensah for -4. Potentially a good move?

    Cheers
