A breathless Gameweek continues apace with a quartet of mid-afternoon duels. Manchester Unitedโ€™s home encounter against Aston Villa holds particular interest as Fantasy managers attempt to exploit the visitorsโ€™ pitiable form.

Across their previous four outings, the Red Devils mustered just two goals while charting bottom for attempts (27), bottom for shots inside the box (14) and second-bottom for shots on target (eight), illustrating the impotence of their attack. Investors in Man Unitedโ€™s rearguard will draw encouragement from the fact that Louis van Gaalโ€™s troops rank top for home clean sheets (10) and are facing a Villains outfit that places second-bottom for away goals (11).

An out-of-form Everton unit welcome Southampton to Goodison Park. The Toffees ranked third-bottom for attempts (36) over their last four matches, scoring a solitary goal at the second-worst shot-conversion rate (2.8%). Saints will certainly fancy their chances of breaching Evertonโ€™s back line, given that Roberto Martinezโ€™s troops place second for goals conceded (28) and bottom for clean sheets (two) in home clashes.

Newcastle strive for their first win in eight outings when Swansea City roll up at St Jamesโ€™ Park. The Magpies rank third for shot-conversion rate (12.1%) in home ties, yet only West Bromwich Albion have amassed fewer attempts (176 compared to 182) on their own turf. As for the Swans, they place joint-bottom for clean sheets in away match-ups (one), which bodes well for Newcastleโ€™s attacking potential.

West Brom and Watford lock horns at The Hawthorns. The Baggies are in desperate need of an attacking spark, given that they chalked up two goals, the second-fewest attempts (35) and third-fewest shots inside the box (19) across their last four fixtures. With just two goals in six outings, the Hornets are also flattering to deceive in the final third, pointing towards an attritional affair in the West Midlands.

Do we reckon this season is a one-off with teams like Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool not playing up to scratch at times?

Or is this going to be a growing trend in FPL; the unpredictability from gameweek to gameweek?

Agree but you could get the predictable 10+ clean sheets from Skrtel, the hauls from Gerrard and a striker good for 15+ goals.

        Not so much now ๐Ÿ˜•

with the amount of money in the FPL i think uncertainty is the new normal.
West Ham, Liverpool, United and Chelsea are all in the running for top 4 next season.

I hope so. Despite what the multiple whiners have said all season, I like the unpredictability. I'd just like to see some of the bigger names (like Hazard) also in the mix to really see some variation in teams.

No. This is a one off. There will always be rotation, but not like this. None of the good FPL teams have a DGW except Arsenal. If it was Spurs/Leicester with doubles it would have been so much better.

I have been playing this game for a good while and this is a particularly bad start to a dgw . I believe this year is the exception rather than the rule . FFS usually averages between 80 - 100 during double game weeks . Posters who are saying that the BB and dgw's are overrated have not been playing the game long enough or are overreacting imo .

Forgetting all the annoyance at having three of my BB squad benched, I'm just feeling flat that a gameweek I'd really looked forward to has started so lamely. I'm 100+ ahead in all my leagues so I'm not particularly worried about my score this week, I was just looking forward to having 30 starts, maximum involvement in the DGW and the prospect of a bumper score. It's all started rather tamely.
