I have a really potent weapon in hand with wildcard and BB left. This week already did lukaku to Kane.

Looking at martial to someone. Got money for Pelle ulloa or long. Wish I had money for mane.

Ooh that's tricky but I definitely wouldn't go for long.

Pelle has 20 owners in the current top 1k, while Ulloa has none. Also Pelle is being bought in droves by active managers while Ulloa is only the 16th most transferred in striker this week. How special do you want your 1 week punt to be?

We've not seen enough of Ulloa this season to judge him fairly, if you want to play the fixtures take Pelle.

For all those like me who are bragging about their massive bench scores (mine was 36), dont we need to take a different approach to "seeing" our bench scores when using a bench boost?

I mean we know that our setup might be a little bit different and our approach a bit more precautionary had this not been a Bench Boost week. So I propose a different way to see our BB scores. We should consider the 3 minimum scorers + lower scoring GK from our teams as the "bench" players in the Bench Boost week. (No way that I'd pick Lingard over Firmino any other GWK anyway)

That would result in my Bench score falling from a massive 36 to a tiny 12 (which could rise with Bellerin and Gabriel still to play). What are you people's thoughts on this? Anybody got some other "criteria"?

      • 12 Years
      10 years, 2 months ago

Just look at yourself honestly and ask who you would have benched ahead of the gameweek if you were fielding 11 players. I laid my bench out like that ahead of the gameweek so I couldn't lie to myself afterwards. For me it was my two single gameweek players, Clichy and Robles for a net 19 points.

There's no hindsight chip in a single gameweek so why pretend there is for a double gameweek?

      1. Rewant-WantToWinEverything!
        • 11 Years
        10 years, 2 months ago

Well I didnt have many SGWK players. Take for example the case of liverpool players (Firmino and Sakho) who were not guaranteed starts so I benched them. Over them I chose Lingard and Fuchs who were guranteed to start their team's both matches (apparently). They gave me 4 and 1 points over 15 and 14 of the Liv assets.

Had this been a SGWK I would have taken the risk to play those Liv players because I knew that if they'd play they had a higher chance of getting points than at least Lingard. Therein lies the reason why I am choosing to differentiate

          (Sorry got posted accidentally)
...between a Single and a Double GWK.

I too chose the bench so that was not a bench boost week but the fact that its a DGWK changes so much!

          • 12 Years
          10 years, 2 months ago

I'm sorry I don't understand your logic at all, why would you play rotation risk players in a single gameweek but not a double gameweek?

          1. Rewant-WantToWinEverything!
            • 11 Years
            10 years, 2 months ago

Because they are overall better players and have more chances of giving me attackings points when they play. When they dont play due to rotation they wont play a single minute (usually in a rotation heavy week) I always have the luxury of autosub from the bench!

              • 12 Years
              10 years, 2 months ago

Right so if they are the more attacking players, why not play them in the dgw?

              1. Rewant-WantToWinEverything!
                • 11 Years
                10 years, 2 months ago

Because of the risk involved in their playing minutes (which are very likely to be less than 120) over the player thats sure to play 180 minutes. Just a case of minimising risks.

                  • 12 Years
                  10 years, 2 months ago

But 120 is still better than the 90 from Fuchs!

                    10 years, 2 months ago

I wouldnt say that. :/ Fuchs might get a CS (more chances) and what if Sakho gets to play a single match and Liv don't keep a CS (very likely).

There are a lot of ifs there but I consider it the more probable scenario.

                  • 12 Years
                  10 years, 2 months ago

and are those chances any different to being stuck with a 30 minute player in a single gameweek?

Might be possible..but i would still say that chances are more of the player getting entirely rested (like Coutinho against Bournemouth) than them getting 30 minutes to play.

        Same here,
Robles, Fuch, Alder, Vardy for 15 points

All my playing team were DG Weekers except Alli, with Man U and Arsenal back 5.

I would not have picked any of my bench before the GW started except maybe Vardy over Mitrovic.

I assumed everyone's considering their bench to be the 4 least likely players they'd start. The people who benched Sanchez etc are just trying to make themselves feel better 🙂

True. I benched my 4 players who were most likely not to start - Darlow, Sakho, Mitrovic and Gabriel. Got a massive 32 points with Gabriel still left to play. Seriously thought FSM would start so had him in first eleven.

For the sidenote I chose to start Lingard over Firmino (more minutes probability), Fuchs over Sakho (more chances of a CS), DDG over Robles and Bellerin over Gabriel. But still ended up getting 38 from the bench over the 19 points from their counterparts.

I think benching Firmino and Sakho would have been madness if your BB was not in play. Two DGWers for Lingard and Fuchs.

          Not for me

Lingard was a DGWer btw :p and Fuchs had a great record of registering CS points with a bonus or two thrown in to boost his points.

It's not about your 3 lowest scoring outfield players, any more so than it was for any manager who played their BB throughout the season.

I picked the bench I would have done if they weren't scoring. two SGWers, and Delaney who I'd have love to have sold... Oh, and Gomes 😀 36!

Well it is because of the above mentioned ifs and buts scenario that I said we should see our bench points differently in Bench Boost GWK (especially if its a DGWK).

Anyways its the overall points that matter! 😀

Just 9 players for next GW.
    I think I will make 2 moves for a -4.

    Mignolet
    Sakho, Bellerin, Simpson
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Iwobi
    Kane, Aguero

Robles, Martial, Payet, Reid, Lanzini, Rojo
    3.2m, 1ft..

    1. Lanzini or Coutinho to Alli. Which of these would you sell?
    2. Martial- Defoe/Pelle/Costa/Sturridge?
    3. Any other moves I should consider..

    It isn't easy..

If Arsenal keep a clean sheet the odds will be in your favour I think.
Iwobi may not start.. (Wenger likes his resting of young players sometimes)

So how do I fare at this point?

This season, I must have mostly been occupied with heavy family and company commitments and do not have the time to do more work on FPL as I'd like to. Didn't look at my team for the whole week prior to DGW and eventually missed the deadline and stuck the armband and vice on Lukaku and Phil.

Enough of sulking on the mistakes. Time to focus on getting ready for a full DGW these coming weeks cos I'm gaming for it with a bench boost and a TC on Sanchez vs Villa on the final gameweek.

Indeed, a horror week for you unfortunately. I live in Australia and have a 16-month old boy who thinks sleeping is for girls ... subsequently I'm often doing things like transferring in Drogba for a hit in the middle of the night for -4.

Finish off strongly and come back next year!

Bench boost have been little disapointment so far. 16 points and Gabriel still to go. Lanzini missing that open net and Bolasie destroying my double ars cs. Could have been lot better chip.

Is this Sturridge too much gamble or wait till gw37?

    My transfer options are

    A) Lukaku & Martial ➡ Defoe & Kane -4 hit

    B) Lukaku, Martial and KDB ➡ Kane,Studge,Alli -8 hit

    Which one is better move?

I would just do A for now and draft in Alli, I don't think he's worth the -4 this week. Studge is still a risk, considering Origi is now out with an ankle injury they may play Firmino False 9 and save Studge for the EL games. Just MHO. For what it's worth I've done exactly A and will sit for now.

I've just taken a hit to get Studge in for Mitrovic, so I'd say worth the risk.

He showed last night he could get 1/2 in half an hour.

      B

      I just did:

Mitrovic, Coutinnho & Delaney > Sturridge, Alli & Simpson

(the Simpson hit enforced to fund it)

With a lot of scores looking likely to be 150+ after tonight, has this DGW actually been a success?

I just think it feels like a failure as a lot of us got rid of our Spurs assets - but it wasn't a bad assumption that Lukaku (wat, cpl, SOU, liv) would outscore Kane (MUN, sto).

I don't think it was a success considering a lot of 11 man teams who didn't Bench Boost or Wilcard managed to get 100+ points.

We were not able to capitalise this week to its full potential due to the unpredictable rotations & success of Spurs players in particular

This is true ... if Stoke and Spurs drew 1-1 with Carroll bagging the goal it would be a very different vibe around here. I think a lot of people would have liked the Lukaku goals that he promised a few weeks ago, but reality is that he, and Everton, are in horrible form and are saving themselves for the Cup.

Overall - disappointing. You want 150+ from a bench boost and DGW, most will be lucky to scrape over that line!

      Absolutely, yes!!

There have been failures, but if you'd have told me I could have 139 with Sanchez(B), Bellerin and Gabriel to play at home to West Brom, I'd have taken that!

Gutted I didn't back my belief in Carroll over Mitrovic, and never should have done Coutinho > Firmino (Spurs sales go without saying), but can't win them all.

      10 years, 2 months ago

9 players (if I'm really lucky) this coming GW..
Sakho, Cout, Rojo with rotation concerns too.

    Mignolet
    Sakho, Bellerin, Simpson
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Iwobi
    Kane, Aguero

Robles, Martial, Payet, Reid, Lanzini, Rojo
    3.2m, 1ft..

    1. Lanzini or Coutinho to Alli. Which of these would you sell?
    2. Sakho/Rojo out..
    3. Martial- Defoe/Pelle/Costa/Sturridge?

Sanchez - De Bruyne - Coutinho
    Aguero - Lukaku* - Martial*
