Double Gameweek 37 plays a major part in our analysis of the previous round of fixtures. Eden Hazard serves up his highest haul of the season ahead of Chelsea’s final four matches, Big Sam’s Sunderland are grinding their way to safety, whilst the likelihood of an early end to the title race may force a reassessment of our plans for the run-in.

The Player

A deadly double in Chelsea’s 4-1 rout at Bournemouth has catapulted Eden Hazard back onto our radars for the final three rounds of fixtures.

Having racked up 190, 202 and 233 points in his first three seasons at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian had long-cemented his status as Fantasy royalty ahead of the current campaign.

No one could have predicted what followed, though. With injuries and a lack of form hampering his prospects, Hazard looked a shadow of his former self and managed just a single goal and four assists prior to the weekend trip to Dean Court.

Now fully recovered from a hip problem, Hazard’s brace against the Cherries could barely have come at a better time. With the likes of Liverpool and Man City’s midfields remaining prone to rotation due to European commitments, our attentions now turn to Stamford Bridge as the dethroned champions look to finish the season with a flourish.

Hiddink’s charges may have no more than pride to play for but Hazard is determined to maintain momentum and has already admitted he’s desperate to end Tottenham’s title bid next Monday evening. If the Foxes fail to beat United on Sunday, a win for the hosts at Stamford Bridge would do just that.

With a pair of double Gameweek 37 trips to Sunderland and Liverpool preceding a final day visit from the Foxes, the Belgian leads a host of Chelsea options jostling for our attention ahead of four matches in the final three rounds of fixtures. Whilst the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Willian, Pedro and Diego Costa also offer viable options, Hazard looks to have that spring in his step again as the Stamford Bridge outfit seek a silver lining whilst bringing down the curtain on a miserable title defence.

The Team

A goalless draw at home to Arsenal helped Sunderland clamber out of the drop zone on Sunday afternoon.

With four matches still remaining, Big Sam’s side now seem in pole position to avoid relegation after serving up a third clean sheet in their last four league outings. Only league leaders Leicester have breached the Black Cats’ defence over that period, with West Brom and Norwich also failing to find a way past a much-improved rearguard.

Whilst five-goal Patrick van Aanholt is the obvious target, Vito Mannone’s heroics between the sticks have been integral to the Wearsiders’ recent renaissance – the Italian has served up back-to-back double-figure hauls ahead of Sunderland’s four fixtures in the final three Gameweeks.

In the centre of the park, though, there’s little grabbing our attention – the early promise of Wahbi Khazri has been extinguished, with the new boy going eight appearances without returns. Although Fabio Borini’s classification as a forward limits his appeal due to a role out wide, the Italian still boasts a considerable goal threat of late, firing 13 attempts in his last four outings – only five strikers have managed more.

Included in that quintet is Jermain Defoe (15 efforts), whose exploits may ultimately determine Sunderland’s top-flight status. Priced at a mere 5.2, he still sits in the differential bracket and is owned by just 7% despite scoring 13 times – a tally bettered by only six players this term.

With trips to Stoke and Watford on either side of a pair of vital home encounters against Chelsea and Everton in double Gameweek 37, the cause for optimism is building on Wearside as Big Sam looks to claim yet another great escape.

Talking Point

Tottenham’s 1-1 draw with West Brom last night may well have repercussions for Fantasy managers over the run-in.

Sitting seven points behind Leicester with just three matches remaining, Mauricio Pochettino’s men now have it all to do. Should the Foxes win at United on Sunday or if Spurs stumble at Chelsea the following evening, the title dream is over for those at White Hart Lane.

Essentially, then, we could be faced with a situation where the league is decided prior to double Gameweek 37, where eight sides are set to play twice.

Up until now, both title contenders have fielded very settled line-ups with everything still on the line but if the race is over, there’s a real possibility we could see more rest and rotation creep in.

Such a scenario may well persuade more to reassess their strategies for the final three rounds of fixtures.

Certainly, those holding Dele Alli will be considering their options after the youngster was charged by the FA for his altercation with Claudio Yacob last night – a potential three-match ban for violent conduct would rule him out for the rest of the campaign. Jamie Vardy owners may also be mulling over a transfer out after his suspension was extended earlier today, leaving the Leicester with just two possible matches remaining.

That pair could be the first in an exodus that sees many migrate to double Gameweek contenders should Leicester be crowned champions by the end of the upcoming round of fixtures.

Whilst Liverpool’s line-ups and Romelu Lukaku’s form may act as deterrents to would-be investors, the likes of West Ham play their final two matches at Upton Park before moving ground and will want to go out in style. Elsewhere, Louis van Gaal still harbours hopes of a top four finish for United – which could ultimately save his job – and with Sunderland’s bid for survival set to go right to the wire, there’s enough on offer for those looking to roll the double Gameweek dice one last time.

Stoke have lost their last 3 games 4-0. Two homes against Chelsea and Everton who concede goals for fun in a dgw. Then Watford who have absolutely nothing to play for. At the same time Sunderland fighting for their lives. Proven goal scorer, unlucky not to score any points v Arsenal last week. Cheap, enables all the other big guns.

      Ighalo/Deeney and Payet.

Call me crazy on the former but they scored 44 points between them against Villa and Norwich. About to play them again. Surprised more on here don't fancy them. People can say what they want about form, but they will score against Villa and Norwich/Lpool

        I'm going Deeney.

Defoe is hardly a horrible pick, but he is getting hyped up on here.

Sunderland have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 and Defoe is very wasteful.

Troy against Villa and as a Birmingham fan he will love rubbing their noses in it!

He was blowing hard tonight towards the end. He still hasn't had much football since coming back from a medium-term injury. If the game was Sat I reckon they'd play him, but with it being Sunday there is a fair chance they will hold him back and make sure he is fully-charged for The Bernabeu.

sun: stk - CHE + EVE - wat
wat: AVL - liv + nor - SUN

          Haha 😉

I'm on Sanchez and he is blatantly the logical pick.

Troy does tempt me just a bit though. Think he could go to town on Villa.

Trying to make a three-figure rank and I'm going to have to make a brave call at some point probably as everyone is gravitating towards a very small number of players.

Defoe ahead of Defoe will probably be a decent point of difference anyway.

Tonight's Champions league game has got me thinking...is Aguero worth keeping this week?

City are playing away to Saints on Sunday, then have only 2 days rest before the 2nd leg of the semi final in Madrid. Especially after the result tonight, Pellegrini know City are relying on Aguero's goals in the second leg. So do we really think he is going to take Aguero all the way down to Southampton on Sunday, start him, take him all the way back up, 1 day rest, fly him out to Madrid then start vs Madrid the next day? That sounds ludicrous to me!

And even if he does start, Saints are a decent outfit at the moment and City's minds will be on the Champions league game. If he had a decent fixture in DGW 37 I would understand the argument to keep, but he is playing Arsenal, just 4 days after playing in Madrid. Plus, the likes of Carroll, Defoe and Sturridge all have a great fixture this week and a DGW next week...

Id love to hear some thoughts on this as I think it has been largely missed on here

Lots were looking to drop him for DGW anyway as his fixture is pretty poor. But why not do it now when other options have great fixtures and are nailed on

This sounds a bit odd, but Lukaku hasn't posted anything on Twitter since March 29, a few days after that Guardian story came out about him wanting to play CL. Which sparked the bonfire on Martinez. Been a rough patch of blowback to deal with for the young man, but think he's too proud to just phone it in without some production through the rest of the season. Also agreeing with earlier posters about Aguero getting tired. You can all see where this is going...ah second marriages are definitely a triumph of hope over experience.

      De Bruyne to Payet?
      Sakho to Cresswell?
      Delaney to van Aanholt?

These 3 are the 'obvious' ones for DGW37. Not sure which you should do this week first.

To be honest, looking at your team again, I would do

          KDB ---> Payet
          Sakho ---> Cresswell/PVA
Alli ---> Someone (Willian maybe?) but only after he's confirmed out

But that's just how I'd personally handle it, go with your gut feeling.

Doing 2 transfers this week for a -4 at most. Would ideally like to make 4 between now and GW37 deadline. But which of these would you do first?

    a Sakho > PVA/Kirchoff
    b Sakho > Cresswell
    c KDB > Fab
    d Mitrovic > Deeney

    Leaning A-D atm.

I think they both get scored on this week so it's a wash. More geared towards the double.

What are you doing with Utd. Triple defence is maybe the way to go. But those fixtures.
Double defence and Rashford? Have we got a striker place for him
I do think I need three.

Just 5 CS in 17 away games doesnt scream points in DGW37, unlike 34. Not confident even about single CS, Norwich will be allout attack, Wham looking for reenge.., final home game.....

Martial still the best option, i fancy him to do well.

    Robles Darlow
    Smalling Gabriel Bellerin Cresswell PVA
    Sanchez Lanzini Payet KDB Alli
    Kane Kun Defoe

Any advice for this squad, already taken a -8 so not sure what to do with Alli.

    Thanks

Gabriel is cheap enough to bench, but he is taking up a valuable GW38 attacking spot vs Villa!

    What to do with this?

    Mignolet
    Smalling / PvA / Bellerin
    Mahrez / Payet / Ozil / Iwobi
    Kane / Kun / Martial

Subs: Butland / Alli / Otamendi / Daniels

Wait for Alli news, but Alli > Lanzini could be an option.

If not Otamendi > Cresswell/Moreno for the double.

Don't think it's worth saving and doing both transfers next week for free?

No Sanchez is an issue. If you're willing to go without then Alli to Lanzini, Otamendi to Cresswell or save.

I'm worried about Sanchez yes, but the hits i'd have to take to get him in aren't worth it.

Think it's a good idea to triple on WHU?

    1FT, 1.4m ITB.

    Robles (Darlow)
    Bellerin Smalling Simpson (Sakho Gabriel)
    Sanchez Payet Firmino Lanzini (Coutinho)
    Aguero Kane Defoe

    Which move?
    (A) Sakho to Cresswell
    (B) Sakho to PvA
    (C) Save to have 2FT for the DGW.

I am going with the same 3 starting defenders this weekend. I have Sakho too but decided to wait and get the 2 FT's for dgw 37. Cash not an issue for my planned transfers though.

Cheers. I may be forced into making the transfer this week because Sakho and Gabriel to Cresswell and PvA will leave me with 0.0m ITB. Getting those two for the double is the dullard move. The brash move would be to try get in Sturridge and Hazard for hits. I do still have a TC chip to play.

A or B could work out..because I'm assuming you will be asking the same move next week anyway? Start Bellerin Gabriel and 1 of A or B. (A for me)
If Gabriel doesn't play, Smalling or Simpson off the bench. I think it will be at least 1-1

Cheers. I may do it next week anymore or I may do something crazy like Cout and Aguero to Hazard and Sturridge. Saving will allow me to do that for me. On the other hand Cresswell may be worth a hit with his double.

          Creswell.
Just can't see Sunderland keeping CS when they have to score goals to stay up, could leave them vulnerable at the back.

Mini league leader 3 points ahead of me and has only WC left. I only have TC left. What would rather have left right now?

Second question. head to head leagues finish league stage after 36 with knockouts in 37 and 38 correct ?

        Certainly hope so.
Can't ever see Lukaku having any ownership levels ever again. Unlucky.
Leader seems like a first season players so has done really well in top 30k. Noticing a lot of people with only WC left. Could be a good weapon to unleash for 37.

    Darlow (Robles)
    Bellerin- Gabriel- Simpson/Ivan (Smalling)
    Payet- Mahrez- Milner- Ozil (Coutinho)
    Kun- Kane- Pelle

Pelle needs to go, may take a hit this week as well to either sort Coutinho or grab Denney for juicy fixtures in case Kun doesn't play this week.

    Pick 2. Thanks!
    A) Pelle > Carroll
    B) Coutinho > Fabregas
    C) Kane > Deeney
    Any other recommendations?

A and B. I know Watford have Villa and then dgw. But looks at goals and assists for Deeney and Ighalo for last 3 months. On th B option liking Pedro over Fab.

Good point. Pedro getting decent minutes but not as nailed as hazard or Fab and that is vital for dgw. Will think again. Thanks.
