It’s time for our final Sky Sports Focus article of the 2015/16 season this Friday afternoon.
As always, we assess the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends and also cast an eye over the Scout team’s progress.

Gameweek 40 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

Gameweek 40 Bonus Points

Seven goalkeepers picked up bonus this week. Sunderland’s Vito Mannone was the stand out once again after picking up bonus in both his fixtures – incredibly, he leads the way for keepers overall going into the final game of the season, with 18 bonus points from just 19 starts.

In defence, 12 players grabbed bonus; eight for tackles and five for completed passes. Liverpool youngster Kevin Stewart was the man to collect both. Simon Francis is the top scoring defender in terms of bonus with 28 points – nearly the equivalent of six clean sheets.

In midfield, there were 24 beneficiaries in total: 13 for tackling and 13 for passes. Cesc Fabregas managed passing bonus in both Chelsea’s fixtures and tackling bonus once to earn an additional six. His total of 70 bonus is far and away the best of any player and is the equivalent of 14 goals.

Wayne Rooney’s midfield role meant he completed four tackles this time around and picked himself up an additional two.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

Robert Huth, Del Alli and Danny Drinkwater were all subject to an exodus over the last few days, though the latter is available for selection this Sunday after serving a one-match ban in Leicester’s win over Everton. Mesut Ozil has now recovered from the hip problem that forced him to miss Arsenal’s draw at the Etihad, whilst many parted company with Harry Kane due to Tottenham’s lack of a double Gameweek last time out.

Jermain Defoe and West Ham duo Dimitri Payet and Mark Noble all featured twice in the previous round of fixtures. Wes Morgan offered Huth owners a like-for-like replacement as a route into Leicester’s defence, whilst Jamie Vardy was also a popular pick after serving a two-match suspension prior to the home encounter against Everton.

Notes

I’m currently positioned inside the top 1,000 as we head into Sunday’s final Gameweek. Compared to recent seasons, in particular, it’s been poor, though – there are always lessons to learn, of course, and hopefully I will place a little more trust in the lower-valued players next time out.

For the final Gameweek I’ll be lucky to have nine players, given that Diego Costa and Dele Alli are sidelined through injury and suspension respectively. With Alexis Sanchez still not overly popular amongst the top players, I could remain in a respectable position if I hand him the armband at home to Villa.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Our Fantasy Football Scout League is sitting in first place in the rankings at present. With one Gameweek to go, we look set to take home the title of “Top League” once again.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch new host Max Rushden and Paul Merson at 18:30 SkySports 3 where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football alongside Steve Walsh and Ian Marshall who will be picking their all-time Leicester City #One2Eleven

    I'm tempted to do...

Townsend, Firmino and Studge to Sanchez, Tadic (or Mane) and Long for -8

Talk me out of it, but I do have a 100 point mini-league lead over the nearest rival and am too far back (40-50,000ish) to challenge for anything spectacular. It also means playing AOA if Defoe plays.

I've figured it out. Having read a few interviews, it appears to me that the coach overestimated the friendly wins against Netherlands and Russia and decided that he won't drop players who were in that squad, even if they were the bench players who almost lost that lead against Russia.

But winning Russia and Netherlands, who didn't even make the competition, won't get them even to semis.

Gentlemen! lend me your eyes. Have cut ML leader's lead from 120 points to 12 over hte last few gameweeks now I need to get the job done!

    Me:
    DDG
    Rojo, BELLERIN, Cresswell
    SANCHEZ, PAYET, HAZARD, Ozil
    Kane, CARROLL, Defoe
    Subs: Moreno, PVA, Milner

    Him
    Mignolet
    BELLERIN, Smalling, Ogbonna, Ivanovic, Evans
    HAZARD, SANCHEZ, PAYET, Pedro, King
    Sturridge, Ighalo, CARROLL

Assume he will captain Sanchez, in which case i'll go for Ozil if fit.

Transfer wise I wanna make sure I get 11 out, Moreno Milner, PVA and Defoe are the main risks. £1.7m ITB. Considering Defoe -> Deeney and Milner -> Tadic / Mane

To me that looks about par overall so, to make up 17 points I think you're going to need a different captain and Aguero is the only player I know of who could rack up that kind of score. Sanchez is still the smart (C) choice but you might as well take the risk. Whether you lose big or small doesn't really matter.
