Dugout Discussion – Germany vs Ukraine

We conclude Sunday’s events with a floodlit clash between Germany and Ukraine in Group C.

Germany will undoubtedly be considered favourites to begin their campaign with a victory. However, question mark remains over Joachim Löw’s side in a number of positions and their form on arrival in France is far from convincing. Defeats to England and Slovakia in pre-tournament friendlies has raised doubts in the German camp.

Their opponents will head into the contest with some confidence. Ukraine have won nine of their last 13 outings, with victories in their last four. A 1-0 reverse at the hands of Spain has been their only setback in this impressive spell.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Anyone think the points are in midfield and defence this tournament? Thinking of upgrading Mak and Stanciu to Payet and Kroos and downgrading Lew after watching these hands. What do you think?

        Do you already have Payet in your squad? I only ask because I wouldn't just get rid of Mak or Stanciu after watching there opening matches. They where just in the right place at the right time. And in this instance Lewandowski didn't have the same impact as Milik.

      So far my points have mainly come from the forwards. But yes guessing the right cs's is clearly the way to go with no BP's.

        Definitely. So far making the subs on the day has helped me a lot. But Giroud has only got me 5 points so far and I didn't double up with Payet. So you are looking for players who can get the assist or the goals. Even better if they keep a clean sheet. Also really impressed with Hector and Germany currently. Gutted he didn't get that opening goal though.

      With the point system, clean sheets should be the bread and butter. Mak and Stanciu scored well don't know why they need upgrading although wouldn't want to be without Payet next round.

        I wouldn't get rid of them necessarily. I watched both games as was really impressed with the pair. My issue is having a forward Lewandowskii taking up 11.5 of the budget when he wasn't playing like one. Might be ignorance on my part but Milik looked more threatening. And another 4k in the bank is at least an upgrade to get Payet in the squad.

        I say this without watching Fáb or Alaba. But Stanciu, Mak, Perišić look strong.
