Dugout Discussion – Turkey vs Croatia

Sunday’s matches begin with the opening Group D fixture, as Turkey take on Croatia in what, on paper, looks a well-matched encounter.

Despite failing to impress in qualifying, Turkey head into the tournament in fine fettle, winning four of their last five friendly encounters – the recent defeat to England the only blot on their copybook. Indeed, Fatih Terim’s unit are also undefeated in eight competitive matches.

Croatia will be favourites for this afternoon’s clash, however. Ante Cacic’s men are bristling with proven talent and have won six of their last seven outings, including the recent 10-0 drubbing of San Marino just over a week ago.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      He's injured. I picked him then swapped him and Janko for Shaqiri and Junu when I saw Janko being injured. In fact Janko's injury was a very minor neck strain

    England and Russia have been warned that any further instances could result in a ban from the competition.

    I thought the issue was a gang of Russians causing trouble, unprovoked, with poor policing failing to stop them. Why are England being threatened? The fighting earlier in the day was caused by the same group of Russians according to around 6 eyewitnesses that spoke on 5live last night.

        A predator and prey? This was an organised group, with black outfits and balaclavas that went with the intention of fighting.

        The England fans were not fighting back in the stands. There were women and children amongst the attacked crowd too...

        England fans act disgracefully often, but in this case they were innocent and it would be unjust to scapegoat them. This was a pre-planned organised attack by a small group of Russians.

              I've only ever been to one away game with England, it was in Amsterdam. The England fans were an utter disgrace around the City and that was at a match deemed to be "trouble free". When you see how threatening they are when drunk it just makes you very sceptical of anything they may say...in fact more than sceptical. Never again.

            Aye. It's the same as when a drunk bloke is belligerent with somebody who is sober....the sober bloke doesn't start fighting him...he just walks off. However...if a drunk bloke is belligerent with another drunk bloke then it's usually game on.

            There was even an England fan on the news last night who said"we's all had a drink when they turned up"...like it was an excuse.

    This strange game is like piecing together a jigsaw puzzle. 😕

    I now have a GK CS and 2 defender CSs. One more defender to play (Glik). It somehow seems odd to be doing it this way with no idea how your eventual XI will look. I played UCL fantasy with manual subs before but this feels different for some reason.

    I feel like I got lucky with no Perisic though. Those that have him can consider themselves unfortunate I reckon.

    By the way, the UEFA player barometer will be worth watching as the tournament goes on. It should give some kind of guide as to which players are likely to rise in price after the group stage.

    Last thing, does anyone have access to a list of player prices? I am noticing players that interest me as the games go past and would like to check what their game values are.
