Monday’s Euro 16 action sees holders Spain begin their bid to retain the crown, as DraftKings managers prepare squads for another round of contests.

The Spanish head into their Group D encounter with Czech Republic, desperate to shake off the recent shock defeat to Georgia – their first reverse in 12-matches.

Over in Group E, the Republic of Ireland get their campaign underway as they clash with Sweden, while Monday concludes with a lip-smacking encounter as much-fancied Belgium collide with an Italian side with just two wins from their last six.

We’ve sifted through the six squads to provide another round of DraftKings picks, selecting an array of talent across the various positions and price brackets.

Matchday 4 Player Picks

Jordi Alba, Spain – $4700
The relentless running and attacking threat from the Spanish left-back looks a worthy investment. Vicente del Bosque’s unit allowed a paltry three goals in qualifying and have maintained that form with just four conceded from their last six friendlies. While doubts linger over the starter on right of the defence, Alba looks an assured prospect on the opposite flank after ranking third for crossed balls and second for interceptions for Spain during qualification.

Mikael Lustig, Sweden – $3800
Sweden’s rearguard has conceded just four goals in seven friendlies since qualifying via a play-off victory over Denmark. The Celtic defender is established in that defence, providing frequent raids from right-back. Lustig claimed a pair of assists in qualifying and, after scoring five goals in Celtic’s domestic campaign, he notched in the recent 3-0 win over Wales, registering an impressive four efforts on goal.

Nolito, Spain – $7100
The Celta Vigo wideman heads into the tournament as Spain’s in-form attacking prospect. A bag of tricks on the flank, the 29-year-old has worked his way into del Bosque’s plans by offering significant goal threat from out wide. Nolito fired a brace in the warm-up encounter with Bosnia, following that up 72-hours later with another two goals in the rout of South Korea. He’s topped their charts for goal attempts with 13 efforts in five appearances over Spain’s last six friendlies, whilst laying on nine opportunities for team-mates – second only to Cesc Fabregas in the Spanish ranks.

Emil Forsberg, Sweden – $5200
There’s no question that team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimović will tempt huge investment for Monday’s contests but, if you’re looking to differentiate your squad, you could do well to consider Forsberg as an emerging talent. The 24-year-old winger contributed six assists and eight goals in Red Bull Leipzig’s promotion to the Bundesliga and is attracting scouts from Liverpool, among others. Like Lustig, he’s impressed in warm-up matches, notching against the Welsh just eight days ago.

Kevin de Bruyne, Belgium – $10,200
De Bruyne looks impossible to ignore ahead of Belgium’s clash with Italy. The Manchester City wideman created more chances than any other player in qualifying, amassing 106 crosses in Belgium’s campaign – more than double his nearest rival. He also fired in more goal attempts than any team-mate, on his way to claiming five goals. De Bruyne has maintained that form over Belgium’s warm-ups, providing more crosses and goalscoring opportunities than any other player over the pre-tournament friendlies.

DraftKings contests for Monday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $7k prize pot.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Nainggolan and Brady look decent value for DK. Darmian and Dockal are in most of my lineups too.

Have Alaba and Janko to come tomorrow as possibles which presents it's own mental turmoil

Bet 365 doing their no lose promotion in the Ireland match tonight.

What do we think? As an Ireland fan, I certainly don't like to back against them but i may do over 0.5 goals and then Sweden to win 2-1. That way if we win or even draw i will be happy but if Sweden do beat us, 2-1 is a likely result and the money will make me feel a little better!

I'd be careful.. I've been doing this and have won a couple of times then out of nowhere with no warning they refused to refund me after the England offer with no explanation other than my account had been blocked from these offers.

Managed to get my £50 stake refunded after lots of arguing but am now unable to take part for no reason at all 🙁

They don't like winners off freebies. I don't bother with them now for the same reason.
I did manage to get a "loyalty" bonus out of them of a whole fiver , but it was also dependent on placing 3 bets totalling £15 over 90 days. Hardly worth bothering but I did it anyway.

Really? That's not good. I've had no issues with them so far anyway and took up every offer they've put on.

I got an email for this promo poker ninja.

Woy, the promotion is they will give you a free in play bet matched to the stake of the pre match bet up to 50 euro/pound. You can then work this to make it a no lose bet. For example 50 on over 0.5 goals returns 56. Stake 7.7 euro on 0-0 to cover it and then play the 50 in play on whatever you want, for example 2-1 Sweden is 9/1 which would return 500. Most you will lose in 1.70 the above way if it's 0-0. But you can do it other ways also.

Hmm maybe I've been blocked from this as well, unless it's only available in Ireland? I always do over 0.5, then 50 on the draw in play.

    Hi fellas,
Don't fully understand the subs rule for the euro fantasy so need some clarity

I captained giroud..so if I transfer the captaincy to nolito, I am stuck with whatever he gets right? Unless I transfer it again to someone playing tomz?

With regards to the bench, if one of my bench players scores higher points..I can replace him with someone who got lower points in my playing 11?

    1. RustyBz
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 8 months ago

Correct on the captaincy point. You can still change that until 2PM though. Or pick someone that plays tomorrow if you have one.

No, you need to sub in the players before they play. If your bench player scores high it's staying there I think

I feel there will be more goals in spain-cze, so maybe Nolito.
But KDB and Lukaku could combine well against Italy (even tho they have good defence), so it's a tough call.

I wonder how many actually used the opportunity to change rivals players/captains while it was possible.
Noticed it was still possible before yesterdays games, but now they have finally solved it.

Hopefully they fix that captain issue too, imo we shouldn't see rivals pick before deadline. Or maybe we will se each others wild card teams too...

Calhanoglu (2) to Denayer - yay or nay?

If Denayer doesn't play I'll lose 2 points and I don't have players left anymore.
