With the knockout stage of Euro 2016 about to get underway, our hot topic posters were full of advice on the best players to draft in as we re-assemble our squads and also discussed ways in which the tournament could be improved. We also find out who is riding high in our Euro 2016 community competitions, as well as gather some early thoughts on domestic issues, with the Premier League fixture list unveiling already whetting the community’s appetite for the season ahead.

The Community Articles

In our latest community article of the month prize, Ludo emerged victorious from our community vote for his excellent look at the psychology of Fantasy management. A £20 Amazon voucher is on his way to him.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Fantasy managers are preparing themselves for the Round of 16 phase of Euro 2016 this weekend. With unlimited transfers in the official Uefa game there has been plenty of discussion about drafting in players that will not only score well in the next match but should emerge as shrewd long-term investments. For those looking for a recap on the key price changes ahead of the next set of fixtures, Greenwindmill has kindly gathered up the risers and fallers.

Sticking with Euro 2016, Ryan prompted one of the week’s busiest discussions with his ideas for a new format for the competition. In terms of England’s prospects, TheFluffyCamel leapt to Roy Hodgson’s defence after the England manager’s tinkering was widely blamed for his side’s failure to clinch top spot in Group B.

On the domestic front, the new Premier League fixture list was this month’s key event. We looked at the teams with the best start to the 2016/17 campaign, while Balders ran the rule over the best season-long rotation pairs, which is ideal for those on the hunt for budget goalkeepers in particular. Rotation pairs also came under scrutiny later when we focused on the best match ups in the first six Gameweeks.

Paying close attention to early fixtures is set to prove crucial to getting a good head start. Pap Le Cissier canvassed further advice from the community on key ways to ensure the start of a Premier League season is a fruitful one for Fantasy managers.

Elsewhere in the top-flight, another exodus of players is being widely predicted for Southampton. However, Saints fan Lucy urges caution in writing off her team, which has more than coped with a spate of high-profile departures in recent years.

Finally, this month has seen another new addition to the FFScout moderator team, with AZ joining. He has already got his feet under the table by publicising news of his appointment before we had a chance to.

The Members Tables

The community’s table constructors have been taking full advantage of this season’s Membership, which includes international statistics for those playing Euro 2016 Fantasy games. Gavaza’s most recent table takes a look at the tournament’s most attacking players, while Balders’ latest looks at a range of key statistics for success among Euro 2016 players.

For those playing DraftKings Euro 2016 games I’ve created this handy table focusing on the key stats for success in the game.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Fantasy Football Frog dropped by to launch a dedicated article for his Frogball Euro 2016 competition for updates and tournament discussion.

Ahead of the first knock out phase of Euro 2016 the leader of the FFScout Official Uefa game league is Mzungu Maskini on 217. He is closely followed by Fitzy on 216. Meanwhile, Greenwindmill tops the FFScout moderators and contributors official Uefa league.

In our exclusive free to enter DraftKings game on Thursday, JohnLuthersCoat claimed the first prize of $50, with Belgium’s goal scoring midfielder Radja Nainggolan and Portugal’s Nani among his star picks.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

    Best players for def:
Wale, France, Germany, Belgum and maby Poland/Switzerland right?
Not worth to duble (maybe Wale but I prefer Bale+Ramsey)

Bear in mind that Brozovic did not start the third game , so that skews the stats somewhat.

Thanks. Witsel still looks to edge him on stats but as I am planning to have KDB it makes him more attractive than having another Belgian.

My ony English defence cover is Hart and he is likely to stay on the bench as Hennessey is my 1st keeper.

Keep Henn who may keep CS so u won't swap him to Hart. Take Dier/Walker to cover England CS and DDG who is 5.5 like Hart and if Henn won't keep his CS you will take him.

Yes. In an ideal world but Muller hasn't been setting the world alight and is expensive (would have to lose Ronaldo) and you don't really know if Gomez will play. I dd consider Draxler for the Brozovic spot but I am just not convinced he will do that well

I agree with the Muller theory. £10.5m for a right midfielder / winger / number 10 / striker or whatever he is now, is too much if he's had 3 blanks in a row.

11/15 similar players, so I think you're on the money 😉

I like the number of heavy hitters you've managed to squeeze in there. Not a fan of Alli myself, but not really any better options at that price. I'd be tempted to downgrade Lukaku to Giroud and upgrade Alli to say a Kroos, but not much in it.

      Good team!

Thanks. I agree on Alli and TBH all England players are not great.

The advantage of Alli and Dier is it gives you somewhere to go on matchday 3 when players inevitably fail in the proceeding days and both do have potential to score points.

I definitely agree in that regard, I'm thinking about trying to include 1 more player playing on matchday 3 myself. Nice to have options.

In that case, I wouldn't change anything. Best of luck, I heard you were doing rather well? 😀

450ish. Doing ok but I was doing really well right at the begining of the tournament.

If Dragovic hadn't got sent off in GW 1 I had a shot at OR1

Rough luck with Dragovic, but still very nice! I'm around 600 and pretty happy with that!

    No Wildcard left:

    De Gea - Subasic

    Rami - Hector - Giaccherini - Meunier - Pazdan

De Bruyne - Payet - Perisic - Kroos - Alli

    Ronaldo - Bale - Giroud

    Good to go?

If you are in 2026 John Terry is 45 years old . I think it's time to let him retire ? Also I can't believe you have not realised Lampard and Gerrard does not work 😉

Think I'm happy with my team now:

    Hennessey
    Hector - Rami - Dier
    KDB - Ozil - Ramsey - Perisic - Payet
    Bale - Milik - Lukaku
    (Neuer) (Meurnier, Jedrzejczyk, ?)

Which of the front 8 do I rest?

Rest? No such concept in this game when you can sub in players.

          The ones that play first.

I'd heavily consider re-doing the team to fit more assets in that don't play GW2.

You have no MD3 options so if your MD1 all score well you risk a difficult choice of benching players in MD2

Thoughts on a Spanish player to captain on the last day? As a differential.

    Gotta be Alba or Morata.

Morata has huge potential for scoring if Spain do score. Would he last into extra time? Does that even matter

Alba's width and energy could be great to break the italians down, cleanie and assist potential

That is a lot. Do you have a WC left? Remember that you only get 4 transfers for the next round if Wales go out that is all of your transfers used in replacing them. Not to mention the other players who will inevitably get knocked out.

If you have a WC not so much of a risk but I doubt they will all score big. multiple players from the same side seldom do.

You gotta look at when they play next round and who against. For example I wouldn't fancy 4 English playing on the last day in the QFs

Excellent point, hadn't even looked at that draw.

Crazy how many of the attractive attacks are on day 2 this round. Big impact on the set up to make sure substitutions work smoothly.

Don't see the reason for any more than 2. Three tops.

I'd also only consider loading 4 if you've still got your WC
