The first semi-final of Euro 2016 was decided by two quick second-half goals as Portugal shut down Wales with relative ease and a slice of luck.

Portugal 2 Wales 0

Those two goals in three minutes put paid to a passive Wales side desperately missing the energy and creativity of the suspended Aaron Ramsey.

After one of the dullest first halves of a less than free-wheeling tournament, Cristiano Ronaldo (12.0) broke the deadlock with a header from fit-again Raphael Guerreiro’s (4.0) cross.

The most popular pick in our daily Captain Poll, with 49.13% votes , the Real Madrid star then set up the killer second goal when his mishit shot fell to strike partner Nani (7.5), who steered it home.

The scoreline was a tad harsh on the Welsh, but they never looked like clawing back the deficit. Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio (5.0) was rarely troubled, with little more to do than see off speculative shots from Gareth Bale.

Bale and Ronaldo dominated the attacking stats for their teams, firing in five and nine attempts respectively, and the former also returned match-high figures for chances created (two) and crosses (six) for good DraftKings returns.

In terms of goal threat, the Welsh were out-shot by 18 attempts to nine by their opponents and did precious little with the 56.4% possession they were given by a deep-lying Portugal, who kept a clean sheet despite the absence of one of their best performers of Euro 2016, Pepe (5.5).

His replacement, Bruno Alves (5.0), was barely tested by Wales but still managed to pick up a yellow card. The 30% of official Uefa game managers with Pepe in their teams will hope he’s fit for Sunday’s final, while full-back Guerreiro and Cedric Soares (4.5) remain considerably more productive DraftKings selections.

Nani has proved an excellent budget option up front. He now has 27 points for the tournament – just five shy of Ronaldo – and has as many goals (three) as his illustrious team-mate from 24 fewer attempts.

Ronaldo offers a huge threat in the air but is no longer the all-round threat he once was, having completed just three successful dribbles all tournament – Bale managed 22.

Just over half of Uefa managers saw midfielder Renato Sanches show promise but little else against Wales, though as his opener against Poland showed last time out, the new Bayern man remains excellent value for a price of just 4.4.

which of the following would you keep on bench?

    1- Hector
    2- Koscielny
    3- Kroos
    4- Pogba

None of them if you've anyone with less than points. If all have 5 points or better I'd bench Koscielny.

3 Portugal defence + Ronaldo + Payet, Giroud, Muller. So need to bench one of the above mentioned names.

    On Mcd's:
They give us too much money imho, at no point during the game have I struggled to make the team I want. I've never had to dig to deep to find a decent squad, I'd also argue 1 wildcard and reduce transfers to maybe 4 in last 2 rounds also.
I can see their thinking in playing 'music for the masses' but personally I like a little more bite in my fantasy football games.

Definitely should not have upped the budget to 105mil after the group stages.

You are half-right imo. Yes , the game was too easy but that was 2 semi-finalists were not priced correctly by McD. Also , we saw the emergence of too many 4.5m defenders by the end which seemed scarce at first. The UCL Fantasy based similarly much tougher this season.

Prices rises of £0.5m rather than £0.1m might have made things a bit more interesting as well.

No price changes in UCL and the third round WC was very handy when some clubs were home and away against poor opposition.

In fairness though if Portugal and Wales didn't progress so fair we wouldn't be having this conversation

If Belgium and Spain were the other 2 semis, we'd be struggling big time

Maybe so but surely then they should have irised price rises to adjust this, the 5m was prob added to factor in the bigger nations but they've dragged their heels when Por/Wales/Ice progressed-They allowed a scenario for price increasing but never utilised it Bow, this was supposed to be the safety net but seems everyone was left walk across the tightrope without obstruction!

Cheap options were available from Portugal and Wales. Imagine Belgium, Spain, Germany and France reaching the semis. It would have been tougher.

    Morning all,

Looking for some assistance... Is Renato's 3 points worth holding on to over all of these players?

    Koscielny
    Hector
    Boateng
    Pogba

    Ozil

As i said on the prev. page:

Kos/Boateng can be left on the bench. But with just 2 matches remaining, you ought to take risk, especially if you are just playing for fun/chasing.

I'd bench one of Boateng then. Only threat going forward is from set pieces. And you have one German cover with Hector so you'd want one from France as well.

    Heaton(4.5) xx 4.0
    Fuchs(6.0) Shaw(5.5) 4.5 4.5 4.0
    Hazard(10) Alli(8.5) Mkhi(9.5) 6.0 4.5
    Aguero(12) Sturridge(11)

FPL is going to be tough. Even this bit of underpricing leaves me with 5 odd for the 3rd striker.

Hi folks, I put together a one-page pdf about clean sheets/goals conceded last year and I have now updated it:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B03D_KnVF1fRQklGMVRwbVplWDA/view?usp=sharing

I was interested in how many goals teams concede, on average, outside of the games that they keep clean sheets. So the pdf was an attempt to find out which defences were, on average, generally better than others no matter the opposition.

Well we will get the line up.
Don't think Draxler will play up top and that Gru have a much better chance to get fantasy points then Pogba (and slightly better chance then Payet). But I also think Germany will be victorious so I can see why you wouldn't want to play both Gru and Griezman ( though the same applies for Payet and Pogba).
Go with your gut if the line ups don't sort it out for you.

            Yeah true.

I had a pretty good day yesterday, 4 Portugal defenders and Ronaldo (C) So feeling pretty happy.

if worst comes to worst I'll lose a couple points here or there.

I think Germany will hold France back and someone like Pogba / Griezmann will have to produce a moment of brilliance to score. I personally don't think Giroud has that in him.

I've gone for 3 German and 3 French attackers.

Griezmann Payet Pogba are all better than Giroud so I've benched him.
Kroos, Ozil (Likely to assist) and Draxler playing up front due to Mario Gomez injury?

Before the Semi-finals I was 15pts behind the ML-leader. Now I am 7pts ahed of him. But his team are looking good today. I used my captain, he has not. Will he go past me again before the final?

Him: NEUER, BOATENG, RAMI, Hector, DRAXLER, POGBA, Payet, Ozil, Griezmann
Me: Hector, SAGNA, Payet, GOTZE, Ozil, Griezmann

He has 9 players left, 5 players that I dont have, and captain.
I have 6 players left, only two players he dont have, no captain.

1-0 France, no goal or assist for any of us, and I think he have 1 or 2 pts more.
