Up next in our series of members articles, which assess the statistics behind the 2015/16 season, is Watford.

We start off by looking at the Hornets’ team data in Quique Sanchez Flores’ solitary campaign at the helm and compare them to the rest of Premier League. After that, we analyse their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the season ahead.

Tipped for the drop by many last time out, the Hornets were quick out the traps and racked up eight wins and five draws in the first 18 Gameweeks. Although Flores’ side failed to maintain momentum over the rest of the season and managed just four victories and as many draws in the final 20 matches, they were never in danger of relegation and ended in thirteenth spot, eight points clear of the bottom three.

    Okay here we go-

    RMT Please

    DDG - Jakupovic
    Sagna - Walker - Gabriel - Fernandez - Lenihan
    Alli - Townsend - Mahrez - Ayew - Feghouli
    Lukaku - Rondon - Aguero

Chelsea cover? Lukaku worries? What could i do?

Sagna to Stones because he is 0.5 cheaper and likely to go to city. Use the extra 0.5 to do Mahrez to Hazard

TM when the site was redeveloped did you chaps ever consider making it so pictures could be included in posts.

I was having a look at some of the fantasy football related sites the other day and thee was a site where all of the RMT's had a screenshot of the team. I thought it looked quite neat but it did have the downside that it took up a lot of space on the page.

I wondered if that was the thinking here as well. Considering the comprehensive changes you made I am sure it crossed your minds.

It wasn't discussed tbh. People complain about scrolling now so pictures would just kill text with all the colour. The site is mainly aimed as a blog side where text is most important. Most link a screenshot very easily.

Bojan is classed as a mid this time, will he play there? or will he be a striker? OOP mid to forward could rack up a cheeky few extra points.

Also, is it just me, or does it seem that too many players are vaued too high this season, and as such it is very difficult to choose a team without taking massive gambles/compromises on unknowns/unprovens?

Don't know how often Bojan will even play.

I think the prices are actually a lot cheaper than people were expecting. Fabregas, Silva, Firmino, Sigurdsson, Mahrez, Lukaku and Costa all look quite under priced to me. Defenders are super cheap, look at Leicester, West Brom and Swansea for example.

Could be a great differential if he starts the season firing with 28.2% of teams having Zlatan, compared with 5.2% of teams having Rooney with £2.5mil the difference.

Sounds good in theory but Rooney has the first touch of a garden wall and little or no explosive pace anymore.. i reckon in Mourinho's fast paced counter attacking football he will be a serious hindrance and out of the team before too long.. we can compensate for Zlatan's lack of pace as he brings so much more to the table but both he and Rooney? not for me

Rooney's bringing down both Man U & England tbh, I get that he's marketable, but c'mon now. His game clearly hasn't aged well & is just getting shoehorned in for mere brand recognition I'd imagine.

There are better, younger players who are better suited for any role Rooney can play in both England & Man U. What a hindrance he is.

I just don't think Rooney has looked after himself well at all off the pitch i mean you can tell by looking at him.. he was stocky in frame even at 16 he was bullying people and had an explosive burst of pace over the first 5 yards.. that will go with age that's not his fault but you have to dedicate yourself to keep as trim as possible and i just don't think he has done.. strikes me as a few beers and a kebab post match man lol

I quite agree with this, United and England both would have been better off without him. Havent checked stats recently but from what i can remember, when Rooney was out injured United played much better and started to turn their season around. Pretty sure his first game back they only beat Villa 1-0...

I think he did.. no one can knock what he has achieved for the club and it won't be long before he overtakes Sir Bobby as our all time record goalscorer to go along side his all time England scoring record.. 9-10 years he was top drawer and for a time one of the best in the world but running himself into the ground from such a young age as well as dedication issues imo have taken their toll

Yeah I agree, while I agree he's hardly deserved a spot in the XI these last two years or so, he was immense & one of most consistent/best playesr at Man U in his prime.

Yeah could be good, but as others have written, there are a myriad of reasons why people aren't selecting him.

He's not the focus of the attack, better options for his price, takes up a striker slot and was fairly poor last year.

    @Housemusiq

Have to disagree here House: Conte has never operated a system with a player 'in the hole' or traditional' #10. One constant is that he's nearly always played with two complimentary strikers up top. It's also hard to tell which central midfielders will start in Conte's presumable 4-2-4 which Oscar has gone on to reveal they've been training. Which by the way is VERY different to a 442,

    http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2016/07/24/the-numbers-game-201516-review-tottenham/?hc_page=12#hc_comment_13601580

Apart from Kante who was the marquee signing in midfield & I'd assume is safest of the lot to start. There's really no telling who will be partnered up in midfield right now, so I don't think you can presume Fàbregas is a lock-in Conte's system at the moment, IMO.

    Cuadrado has both:
    A) Been linked with Milan and Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell, http://gianlucadimarzio.com/news-cat/cuadrado-ora-il-chelsea-apre-alla-cessione-su-di-lui-juventus-e-inter/

& B) Is competing with Willian for the right flank spot who had his best season last year & was the best player in Chelsea as well.

Mmm ... good insight ..but if that the case then Hazard might be the one to get in th 4-2-4 system ... or not ? or play it safe with Costa ?????? Selection Headache early already !!!! 😀

Just give it more time tbh, still a lot of pre-season to go & things to scout. We should get a better idea of Conte's preffered set-up & players by the time the season starts. Chelsea may still be in for another striker fwiw, but as of right now, I'd wager Costa & Hazard are both safe picks.

but .. but .. there have to be a Playmaker right ? i mean Kante and Matic are nailed on i guess ,, and Fab is the pacemaker i mean if Chelsea have two Central midfielders already then Fab might be the no 10 and occasionally cover up for Kante if he attacks but anyways thats really usefull info thx !!!

Thanks for this, good to know. Ive been keeping up with Chelsea and I quite like that Conte is bringing a new style of play to Chelsea. They have needed a change from their boring at times style and I think this could be it. He's passionate and will want his players to do well, and wont stand for shenanigans or players not performing.
That being said, I will keep a good eye on how they line up against Madrid this week as im going to see the match in Michigan. Hopefully they come out to play and he tests out a starting lineup.

Conte's definitely straight-forward (along with his playstyle) & is one of the best man-managers around. Guy can be brutal at times & is very disciplinary.

Hope it's a cracking match, enjoy it 🙂

At the top of this page I see an advert for profitaccumulator.co.uk

With the tag "Earn cash with as no risk matched betting"

Sounds like a scam to me. All gambling has a risk

What is FFS's view on this?

The EPL website lists Wijnaldum as signed by Liverpool, but he isn't in the game. Makes it a little difficult to start building if you can't see all the bricks.

Yeah, especially if he's likely slotted in the pivot based off Klopp's comments & his stint as central mid at PSV. Probably best to skip out on for now, imo.

I don't remember exactly but he was right up there in the top scoring mids last season. Like top 5 maybe.

He got 11 goals and 5 assists that's similar to the likes of Ayew, Siggy, Arnie etc who are all 7.5.

Surely Wijnaldums move from a relegation club to Liverpool warrants at least a 0.5 upgrade

                Wij - 3163/170
                Siggy - 2914/158
                Arnie - 2808/165

Can't compare Arnie to Wij going off that.

I'd hope they place him at 7.5 merely because of his likely position &/or question marks over assurance of starts. I don't question his pedigree at all, I'm fan of his, & he was played on the left-flank for a good while last season to his detriment. Definitely un-tapped potential there when played centrally.

Just curious as to why you seem so convinced on Coutinho. Personally, I think Coutinho is an ok option but Firmino's end product is far superior to his so if i do go for a Liverpool mid Firmino is the only one in consideration.

Coutinho always had serious potential but i was always very critical of him for being hit and miss and scoring a screamer one week and going missing for the next 5 games etc.. which was fair.. but towards the end of last season i noticed he started to add a little consistency to his game and impressed me quite a bit.. if he can continue that on he can make a mockery of that £8m price tag i think mate

For sure some will hold off in the short term. Personally I dislike starting a season with planned transfers especially in defence. Inevitably I will want to do something else when the time comes so that is why I plan my rotations well now (or try too) to cover these less desirable weeks

Do you plan to use your WC at a specific time? (not counting in connection with a DGW) I don't like it myself it seems very inflexible.

It basically says you expect your original squad will fail to me. Because if they succeed you shouldn't be using that WC really

    Kun, Carroll, Rondon.

Tried to make each area firm. last season i neglected the defence way too much, and lost a lot of clean sheet points. Not gone super expensive on defence, but if this season is anything like last......

Way too much spent on GKs.

      Rojo not nailed

Kante a poor option at 5.0 (get Leko for 4.5 or even Wanyama at 5), Dier not nailed (at all)

Carroll not nailed, Rondon is a crappy diff.

Start again - firm isn't what your results look like.

Unless Dier is Spurs, in which case he still isn't nailed (just not as resoundingly) because of Wanyama.

Hi guys, I'm entering a draft league for the first time- was wondering if there are any good articles explaining them or tactics that may differ from normal FPL. Or any tips from others that have played in them. Don't go for punts is probably a good one...steady tickers like Tadic and Siggy?
