Dugout Discussion

Spare a thought for Mike Phelan.

Already the Hull City caretaker manager seems to be unfurling the white flag, even before Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez get their first run at his patched-up defence.

The first Dugout Discussion of the Premier League season could witness one of the most one-sided opening fixtures in memory.

Champions Leicester turn up at the KCOM Stadium off the back of the FA Community Shield defeat to Manchester United but surely still brimming with confidence and optimism following the triumphant campaign.

Certainly they bring plenty of talent and pace – heightened by the presence of Ahmed Musa and Demarai Gray on their teamsheet. That might just prove too much, even for a spirited Hull City showing.

Stranger things have happened, though. Just ask Claudio Ranieri.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Very much this.

The whole team over performed to unbelievable proportions. Like a runner who usually finishes 100m in 14 secs taking steroids and doing it in 9.75 secs instead.

It will but it'll also be daft as they have Arsenal next which I think he'll score in, and if he doesn't it's Swansea after that.

Personally, I'm planning to give him three weeks.

I know he could drop to 9.9 by then but I fancy him to be in the goals soon.

Non-Leicester owners, like myself, come out from behind the sofa - the damage was not too bad

On the downside, Mahrez (high ownership) scored

But no clean sheets and Vardy did nowt.

I'm sure Leicester will still end up doing well even if they don't win again. I have Mahrez and am fine with his performance, and certainly don't feel a need to get rid of him. I know the tradition is to overreact to the first week's results, but I'd be careful about overreacting to the first week's results.

You're saying that because you have Mahrez
