We were dressed for success, but success it never comes.

Suited and booted, we crown the new season riding a wave of giddy optimism. The positivity flows on the eve of a new campaign which, on paper, looks destined to be one of the best in memory.

Granville makes a belated return to ScoutCast action to join Jonty, Andy and myself as we start to sift the seemingly endless array of options open to us on the new season player list.

It’s bewildering stuff but, guided by you, the community, we attempt to navigate all your pre-season questions before laying our own cards on the table.

It’s amazing to be back amongst it again. Let’s just hope the smiles stay as wide for the next episode.

he ScoutCast is first aired live on our YouTube channel on Thursday night. Be sure to subscribe to get a heads up on future broadcasts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I'm having capoue now but I'm just worried of his weak team compared to soton. Won't use a free transfer on 4.5m i believe. So i better figure it now

Anything that needs to be changed/upgraded? I am quite happy having 1.0 ITB

    Heaton (Foster)
    Valencia/Fuchs/Stones (Friend/A. Smith)
    Hazard/Lamela/Redmond/Townsend (Capoue)
    Kun/Ibra/Gray

Any opinion is highly appreciated. Thanks lads

Similar to mine, but I like the upgrades that I was able to make by simply choosing Vardy over Ibra and picking Jakupovic instead of a second 4.5 keeper.

If you did the same you could do:

      Lamela to Alli
      Townsend to Firminho

Nope, have Deulofeu too. Don't have Ibra or Firmino as I'm taking a risk and going double Spurs with Kane + Eriksen. Fancy them to score a lot in the next two games, though your picks are definitely smarter ones.

The other difference is Evans instead of Pieters. Good fixtures, probably won't be using him before a wildcard anyway.

Deulo is a good pick for now. Lucky is injured and may move, so until Everton sort out the striker position, Deuli's good for an OOP pick.

Could be a particular team/player you're either heavily backing or dangerously avoiding.

i m backing on vahrez to perform. no reason why they would stop scoring all of a sudden.

avoiding utd for now. no clear option in midfield..rooney is poor and ibra is too expensive. unless he starts scoring braces if not it is easy to cope without him

Hey everyone, can I get an old fashioned RMT.

Help much appreciated. I have been away for a few weeks so feel I am missing some of the obvious stuff.

    Foster (Jakupovic)
    Shaw Dann Stones (Morgan, Paredes)
    Martial Cabaye Redmond Hazard (Dier)
    Gray Augero Vardy

    Thoughts?

    1. MarvelouSuccess
      • 13 Years

Lose Dann. Palace defence is weak asf. Replace with Van Dijk or Shaw. Dier is an expensive bench player. Downgrade to Capoue to spend on replacing cabaye.

GW@ Leicester play Arsenal and Southampton play united, having Van Dijk and Morgan seems silly then. While Crystal have a pretty poor defence they are against weak opposition (bar 1 GW for the ) for the first 5.

Although, it is their GW@! that is shitty too, so tough to call!

Dies is expensive though, i think you are right there

    All set?

    Heaton
    Valencia - Baines - Stones
    Hazard - Martial - Lamela - Redmond
    Aguero (C) - Vardy (VC) - Gray

    Foster - Capoue - Amat - Friend

As I plan to play wildcard ahead of GW4 and use the same back three for all weeks, is it worth just getting a 4.0 player instead of Friend. If so, where should I look to upgrade with the 0.5?

    1. MFPL
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 6 months ago

It could be worth downgrading him to a 4m defender if he 100% won't play for you. It would give you the flexibility to upgrade Redmond to a 6.5m mid (e.g Townsend) or Vardy to Kane (both just examples) before you use your WC.

Redmond doesn't beat Tadic. Tadic was the furthest forward player in their friendlies, as Redmond and Long were tasked with going wide up front, leaving space for Tadic in the box. On set plays and pens too.

        Definitely agree
        BB gw 34/37
        TC gw 34/37

The argument is that a wildcard is more valuable than a BB, so it doesn't make sense to compromise one for the other. Now they get the value of the BB on it's own + the value of the wildcard on it's own.

hmm i can see that working but would still think saving it makes more sense.
I guess that is what everyone will do.

It seems like a move I would play if I was behind. But no one is behind on day one.

It's a move that I think will net me more points overall so I'm gonna play it, not interested in what "everyone is doing."

            🙂

Is Kone one to stay away from now? Too much uncertainty?

If you can stash him as a 4th defender for now, bring him in from the start

He may even start this weekend...if he goes to Ev will be a smart pick and saves you a transfer to have him now if it works on your team.

Anyone planning for a GW1 wildcard? So much is up in the air and the start of season is such a lottery, most people end up knee jerking and WC'ing anyway. Strongly considering just planning a team to maximise GW1 with fixtures and the cheapest bench possible and then restructuring from there.

its probably best to not do it GW1, so much will still go unanswered. GW3 maybe.

Hell no. Wait until the close of the traf window and international break at the earliest.
