Chelsea’s stars of 2014/15 rise to the occasion at Stamford Bridge as both Diego Costa and Eden Hazard deliver goals to earn Antonio Conte a victory in his first Premier League outing. Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 1.

On the Rise

Eden Hazard
The Belgian’s spot-kick was hugely significant, not least because it saw Hazard deliver in Gameweek 1, but also because it appears to confirm him as Chelsea’s designated penalty taker. That’s something of a puzzle given that Oscar took one in pre-season with Hazard on the pitch. Now with penalties secured, Hazard’s stock, like that of Riyad Mahrez, has enjoyed a major boost.

Diego Costa
Owned by just 7% of FPL managers, Costa’s fine winning strike rolled us back to the 2014/15 campaign and offered a reminder of his clinical finishing ability. His future at Chelsea is far from assured but if he can hint at returning to his debut season strike rate, he may yet enter our thinking. However, an early booking and a reckless challenge on Adrian also demonstrated just why we have to show extreme caution.

Cesar Azpilicueta
The Spanish full-back has significantly improved his attacking game and is now offering just as much from the left as Branislav Ivanovic on the right. Unlike the Serb, Azpilicueta’s starting role has rarely come under question and with no rival for his position, he continues to stand out as the key option in Antonio Conte’s defence. Tonight’s assist and bonus only underlined that further.

James Collins
Slaven Bilic opted for the Welsh warhorse over Angelo Ogbonna, potentially unlocking a 4.5 option in West Ham’s backline. That already brought Collins to our attention, even before his dramatic blast from a West Ham corner. A start against AFC Bournemouth should be guaranteed but it remains if he can hold off Ogbonna in the long-term.

In Decline

Andre Ayew
The Ghanaian’s West Ham bow lasted just 34 minutes before he gave way with a thigh problem. That was a blow to his 9.5% ownership who must now wait anxiously to see if he can recover for Sunday’s potentially profitable meeting with the Bournemouth defence. With Payet a likely starter, Bilic won’t need to take a risk with his new signing.

Michail Antonio
Charged with containing Hazard, he was always in for a testing evening. Seemingly consigned to a right-back role with Bilic collecting options on the flanks, Antonio was hooked shortly after conceding the early second-half penalty. His start against AFC Bournemouth could be in doubt – his fragility against top class opponents certainly isn’t, nor is his reluctance to continue as a full-back.

Sofiane Feghouli
The 5.5 midfield option is another in the West Ham treatment room. He missed tonight’s encounter with a hamstring problem which materialised in training according to Bilic.

Oscar
We thought he was on spot-kicks, clearly he is not. That’s a major dent to his appeal and with Cesc Fabregas breathing down his neck, the Brazilian’s owners will rarely be able to rest easy.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So I start with an unlucky 40 pointer, and now I'll be sticking to 3-5-2 for the next three weeks.

    Thoughts please?

    Forster - (Jakupovic)
    Stones - Shaw - Valencia - (Amat - B smith)
    Sanchez (C) - Eriksen - Hazard - Redmond - Firmino
    Carroll - Rooney - (Gray)

Interesting. I like how you've managed ti fit in a 6.5 backup in a 3-5-2 - I could only ever stretch to Wickham in my drafts.

Right, so I think I'd be happy with the plan considering you're already committed this week, but I'd captain Carroll and probably lose Stones for Williams

I think you will miss 2 big hitters in Aguero and Ibra, I know this will throw your team out but minimum I think you need one

I will likely get Aguero if the form continues when I wildcard, but I'll give my current team 3/4 more weeks to see how they are each doing. Sanchez is concerning me a little.

    Jakupovic/valdes
    Valencia/Amat/Stones/Lenihan/Smith
    Firmino/Sanchez/Redmond/Hazrad/Routledge
    Kun/Vardy/Diomande

Vardy to Costa or Kane ?
    Stones to Baines ?
    Any other changes

Gray > Negredo. Burnley have three decent fixtures in 10 weeks and they blanked one already. Boro have an amazing run of fixtures

Yes. Coutinho is a frustrating FF prospect. Not that I have much confidence in Siggy but Coutinho blows hot and cold.

Anyone got any pointers for my team?

Lloris (Which I am going to sub for Courtios) dependant on injury)
    Baines, Shaw, Pieters, Souare
    Eriksen, Hazzard, De Bruyne, Redmond
Aguero, Musa (looking to potentially swap for Benteke or Bony if a move is made or use as a base to get Rooney, Costa or Lukaku)

    Subs
    Japukovic, Amat, Negredo, Fletcher

Spoilt for choice. Obviously not Fuchs. I would be leaning Shaw, Stones, Amat but then I didn't see the Mid/Stoke game last week end.

I'm holding tight on my wildcard for now even though it's very tempting. I think I'm only going to make 1 transfer this week in Foster for Heaton, unless anyone thinks I should do different? Quite tempted to take -4 to put Rondon in for Gray.... Please RMT for GWK2:

    Foster (currently Heaton)

Valencia, Stones, Van Dijk (Shaw, Friend)

    Redmond, Mahrez, Hazard, Kouyate, Firmino

    Aguero, Negredo (Gray)

    Thanks in advance

Hi guys advice needed on an optimum transfer please.

    Heaton (Forster)
    Stones Valencia Azpul (Morgan,Target)
    Hazard Redmond Firmino Lindgard (Albrighton)
    Kun Rooney Okozaki

A few weak links in my first 11 so I'll have to stick with Firmino and Okozaki as at least they'll get on the pitch. So it's Lindgard, Albrighton or Target for the chop.

I'm thinking either Target to Williams or Albrighton to Bolasi - Everton fixtures look too tastey!

    Cheers

    Foster (Heaton)
    Amat Valencia Stones (McCauley Friend)
    Hazard Firmino Tadic Redmond (Capoue)
