Michail Antonio shifts forward and provides the decisive finish as West Ham celebrate their London Stadium bow with a hard-fought victory. Earlier in the day, Alvaro Negredo’s qualtiy and Cristhian Stuani’s finishing combined to earn Middlesbrough three points on Wearside. Here’s the Stock Check after Sunday’s matches…

On the Rise

Alvaro Negredo
A goal in Gameweek 1, followed by two classy assists today. Negredo appears to be reveling in his lone striker role for Middlesbrough and his intelligence and awareness looks very effective in combination with the likes of Gaston Ramirez and Stewart Downing as creators. Negredo sits third in the FPL rankings – only Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have started stronger. Further transfer traffic is heading his way.

Cristhian Stuani
It’s a long shot but we have to mention the Uruguayan following his two goals. Brought in to replace Albert Adomah as part of Aitor Karanka expected rotation on the flanks, he reacted by seizing his opportunity in style. It remains to be seen if Stuani can retain a starting role – even as a 4.9 forward, his appeal would seem limited.

Patrick van Aanholt
More goals and more attempts than any other defender last season, the flying Dutchman has already opened his account for 2016/17. While David Moyes’ defence ha been unsettled by injury and departures, Van Aanholt still provides a tempting proposition given his attacking prowess and Sunderland’s fixtures. The Black Cats welcome Everton, Palace and West Brom to Wearside over the next five Gameweeks.

Michail Antonio
Has Eden Hazard done Fantasy managers a huge favour? After enduring a torrid evening at the hands of the Belgian at Stamford Bridge last Monday, Antonio was shifted onto the flank for today’s home clash with Bournemouth. Considering the injury situation in attack, Slaven Bilic will surely now look to keep Antonio in an attacking role after the former Nottingham Forest man headed home the match-winner. If he can keep his place and that position beyond the Gameweek 3 trip to City, Antonio would certainly be back on our radar as a true alternative to Dimitri Payet.

James Collins
A goal against Chelsea, followed up by a solid rearguard display against the Cherries, looks to have kept the Welshman ahead of Angelo Ogbonna in the West Ham defence. At 4.5, he’s got some very decent upcoming fixtures after next week’s trip to City has passed. We’re currently favouring Winston Reid for his security of starts but Collins may just usurp him heading into that run of matches.

In Decline

Dimitri Payet
Slaven Bilic has played down the severity of the Frenchman’s injury but, with a trip to City up next, Payet’s 25% owners aren’t hanging about. Over 36,000 have parted company already this week, more than any midfielder – with the international break to follow Gameweek 3, a failure to feature at the Etihad could see the exodus snowball.

Andy Carroll
With Andre Ayew ruled out for months, the Hammers target man seemed nailed on up front for the foreseeable future. Yet again, though, Carroll faces a spell on the sidelines after succumbing to a knee injury – given his treatment room history, we should have known that price of 6.5 was too good to be true.

Callum Wilson
The Cherries striker looked a shadow of the player that scored a hat-trick away to the Hammers just 12 months ago. Hauled off for the second match in succession, Wilson has managed just two attempts on goal in the first couple of Gameweeks. Eddie Howe’s side will struggle if they fail to get him firing.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Quick Q... My main rival has ddg and valencia

I have1 free tranny this week.

Does it make any sense to swap Valencia to Shaw for a little differential?
Or best to stick with his Valencia points and leave it as is? I think there's some logic in what I'm trying to say, but I may have explained it arseways...

Right so in the Sky game I'm spoilt for choice for captains on Saturday.

    Ibra v Hull(A)
    Tadic v Sund (H)
    Hazard v Burn (H)
    Deulofeu v Stoke (H)
    Townsend v Bourn (H)

Interested in gauging opinions on this one as I'm finding it a toughie.

Tadic. Great underlying stats. Sunderland bare bones playing McNair, Dji, PVA and Love at the back. Another 8-0?

The god has spoken (Pokemon fan). But yes Tadic is the one I really want to go for and catch his haul but Ibra seems the smart mans move as it protects me from others doing the same. A lot of safe managers in one of my leagues it appears.

They will score more goals full stop, simultaneously increasing Townsend's assist threat and goal threat.

I'd argue it increases. Both in assists and in giving Palace that accommodating forward. Both centre halfs sole concern will be Tekkers when he's on the field.

wow what a day out at the Stadium of light, i've just got my voice back!

    Stuani ESSENTIAL!!!

not really.....for those of you who are asking if he is worth bringing in, I would suggest not.

    1) He could easily be dropped next game
    2) His first goal today, 9 times out of 10 would have landed in the top tier not the top corner
    3) He is extremely frustrating to watch as a Boro fan, clearly talented but can go missing in games. He is a hard worker but his finishing often leaves a lot to be desired.
    4) He seems to pop up with goals in big games however can largely be anonymous in other.

Aitor seems to rotate him a lot so would steer clear unless he becomes nailed, time will tell.

    Up the Boro !

I believe Negredo is on pens. Ramirez played 59 mins (yes 59! not 60!), but he went missing for spells. Very frustrating

Yeah, I am more interested in Ramirez too, but I am worried about him getting subbed early too often.

Maybe it was because it was 2-0 at the time and the match was 'won'. Perhaps Gaston always stays on if Middlesbrough need a goal?

I felt he got subbed due to the fact Sunderland started pressing really bad around that hour mark. Karanka prolly felt he needed more body in midfield rather than a creative guy like Ramirez.

        Thanks!

Ramirez will start every game, and will be pretty good for minutes, he was taken off early today I believe due to fitness. We actually looked a lot poorer and lost shape without him today, he is a classy player and I think good value at 5.5 in FPL.

Leadbitter was our penalty taker last season but is currently injured and when fit will not be first choice. I actually don't know who will be on pens, possibly Negredo but that's just a guess really.

Thanks. I might get Ramirez as 'cover' for Negredo once I switch Negredo to Benteke.

    How's this team looking?

    Foster - Jaku
    Stones - Williams - Evans - Pieters - Amat
    Hazard - Tadic - Sterling - Lamela - Capoue
    Aguero - Ibra - Negredo

0.5 ITB, would you change anyone?

Yeah, fair shout. I have Pieters too and might be looking to move him on soon but since I'll probably WC in the next couple of weeks I may just wait (providing his price remains steady).

Is Silva finished as a fantasy option? He only scored one goal in the league last season... Nolito scored more in the last 10 minutes against Stoke.

Time will tell, but he's playing in a deeper role under Pep which diminishes his value IMO. I believe you're better off finding 0.5m somewhere and getting Ozil instead

Is Nolito a good option? I'm worried that in Pep's mind he's just a decent upgrade on Navas, and that essentially he will treat him the same; namely Nolito will regularly get hooked around the hour mark if Man City ever need a goal, in order to let someone else have a go, (as opposed to Aguero who only comes off early if Man City have already scored a couple and wrapped the game up).

Nolito is *probably* nailed now that he's scored two. I'd be a bit more worried once Sane is fit

Fun Fact: Bolasie has featured in two games already this season, but he has only played against West Brom.

In a head to head season when you face the avg is the avg of everyone because the avg was higher than it should of been

In the league itself 50 but it says 57 thought it was odd

If a Head-to-Head league has an odd number of teams then an average team will join the league to ensure each team has a fixture every Gameweek. This team will always score the Gameweek average.

Need to shift Carroll out now he's injured. Have 1m itb and 2 FTs. How does this sound?

    Carroll & Deulofeu to
    Stuani and Nolito

When do we expect Carroll to drop in price? Will Nolito get a rest for the second leg v Steuau? Thanks

    C) Evans MID (H)
    D) Souare BOU (H)
    E) Townsend BOU (H)
    F) Mkhitaryan HUL (A)

Mkhitaryan if I was sure he would play

Which 2 players scored this weekend that lined up for Villa when I saw them beat Newcastle 4-1 in 2008
