Michail Antonio shifts forward and provides the decisive finish as West Ham celebrate their London Stadium bow with a hard-fought victory. Earlier in the day, Alvaro Negredo’s qualtiy and Cristhian Stuani’s finishing combined to earn Middlesbrough three points on Wearside. Here’s the Stock Check after Sunday’s matches…

On the Rise

Alvaro Negredo
A goal in Gameweek 1, followed by two classy assists today. Negredo appears to be reveling in his lone striker role for Middlesbrough and his intelligence and awareness looks very effective in combination with the likes of Gaston Ramirez and Stewart Downing as creators. Negredo sits third in the FPL rankings – only Sergio Aguero and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have started stronger. Further transfer traffic is heading his way.

Cristhian Stuani
It’s a long shot but we have to mention the Uruguayan following his two goals. Brought in to replace Albert Adomah as part of Aitor Karanka expected rotation on the flanks, he reacted by seizing his opportunity in style. It remains to be seen if Stuani can retain a starting role – even as a 4.9 forward, his appeal would seem limited.

Patrick van Aanholt
More goals and more attempts than any other defender last season, the flying Dutchman has already opened his account for 2016/17. While David Moyes’ defence ha been unsettled by injury and departures, Van Aanholt still provides a tempting proposition given his attacking prowess and Sunderland’s fixtures. The Black Cats welcome Everton, Palace and West Brom to Wearside over the next five Gameweeks.

Michail Antonio
Has Eden Hazard done Fantasy managers a huge favour? After enduring a torrid evening at the hands of the Belgian at Stamford Bridge last Monday, Antonio was shifted onto the flank for today’s home clash with Bournemouth. Considering the injury situation in attack, Slaven Bilic will surely now look to keep Antonio in an attacking role after the former Nottingham Forest man headed home the match-winner. If he can keep his place and that position beyond the Gameweek 3 trip to City, Antonio would certainly be back on our radar as a true alternative to Dimitri Payet.

James Collins
A goal against Chelsea, followed up by a solid rearguard display against the Cherries, looks to have kept the Welshman ahead of Angelo Ogbonna in the West Ham defence. At 4.5, he’s got some very decent upcoming fixtures after next week’s trip to City has passed. We’re currently favouring Winston Reid for his security of starts but Collins may just usurp him heading into that run of matches.

In Decline

Dimitri Payet
Slaven Bilic has played down the severity of the Frenchman’s injury but, with a trip to City up next, Payet’s 25% owners aren’t hanging about. Over 36,000 have parted company already this week, more than any midfielder – with the international break to follow Gameweek 3, a failure to feature at the Etihad could see the exodus snowball.

Andy Carroll
With Andre Ayew ruled out for months, the Hammers target man seemed nailed on up front for the foreseeable future. Yet again, though, Carroll faces a spell on the sidelines after succumbing to a knee injury – given his treatment room history, we should have known that price of 6.5 was too good to be true.

Callum Wilson
The Cherries striker looked a shadow of the player that scored a hat-trick away to the Hammers just 12 months ago. Hauled off for the second match in succession, Wilson has managed just two attempts on goal in the first couple of Gameweeks. Eddie Howe’s side will struggle if they fail to get him firing.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Costa may have two goals in two games but two yellows in two games puts me off. A red card/ban waiting to happen.

Add to that he dosent seem to pick up many bonus points and bats has looked good coming of the bench and I would avoid.

Save FT this week? Also, would you start Targett over PVA? Was planning to but PVA's goal has added some doubt!

    Foster
    Terry - Valencia - Targett
    Hazard - Martial - Walcott - Bojan
    Aguero - Vardy - Rondon

Subs - Jaku, Capoue, PVA, Amat

I'd start PVA over Targett, don't think either team will collect CS though. I would transfer out Walcott ASAP doubt he will even start when Wenger brings in Ozil and Giroud.

My view is Saints could well get a clean sheet and PVA won't score every week, so i'd put Targett in.

save 1.1m by going mirallas but is he secured? better to take on barkley now and then downgrade later if mirallas continues to go well as barkley is nailed on for time being and his price is more likely to increase.

Barkley has purple patches, and one of these days could become a genuine FPL force. He seems to be dominating set pieces and has a good goal threat. Mirallas will never be nailed. I don't think he's worth the saving.

Think i'm going to grab Barkely before his price rise tonight (not 100% convinced on his flukey displays but he does always seem to hit the ground running early on)

    Which option:-

    Courtois, Jaku,
    Morgan, Shaw, Friend, Evans, Wilson
    Mahrez, Hazard, Ramirez, Gradel, Shaqiri
    Costa, Aguero, Gray

I've used my first free transfer to bring in Hazard for Sanchez.

Should I take a hit to deal with the injured Shaqiri and bring in Zlatan for Costa??

I sold Costa for ibra this week. Costa will def get goals this year and is good value but I can't stand watching games waiting for him to get sent off. Having ibra is much more fun

    Using FPL Statistics
    - Barkley is on +97%
    - Eriksen is on -90%

Looks like a monday morning transfer if I ever saw one.

Based on the algorithm used on this site

        http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk/

A word of caution though is that you should use this site as a good indicator and not gospel.

cheers! worth knowing tho seen as they appear to have removed the net transfers for the week from players profiles in favour of threat/creativity etc.
or at least i cant find it anymore on the profiles

I haven't watched any of the Watford matches yet.. but why is it that Capoue is scoring when he NEVER scores.

Is he playing in a more advanced role or is it just that the ball had luckily fallen to him on 2 occasions?

playing at the tip of midfield breaking into the box late on in attacks. kind of lampard esk, hes had a few balls break to him and hit 2 cracking finishes. he wont keep it up but for 4.5 hes a good option on bench as 1st sub

On a WC after a complete emotional meltdown this weekend 🙂

Trying to sort out my defence and would appreciate some comments on the following

What are Holdings prospects going forward? They're obviously looking to buy, but Wenger is Wenger and the way he talked up Holding after the game suggests that he might be coming to terms with not getting anyone in... Am I blinded by Holding's pricetag?

Also West Hams defence; is Collins nailed or just starting since Ogbonna's been in the Euros?

Which Everton defender, if any, would you get?

Mustafi will probably take his place.

I have Williams and am happy with him.

Avoid him. Yes Wenger likes him and may play him, but it's the whole Per/Gabriel thing again - Chambers could come in.

      Lots of good 4.5 options.

Collins looks nailed, but again be wary - Europa may change things and also, West Ham are fairly leaky

      Williams.

I think if I were wildcarding this week, I'd want 2 premiums and SUN/MID/SWA rotation.

2 premiums are open to debate, but for now, Baines/Williams and Shaw/Valencia look solid

Holding's current competition is Gabriel. I think he's done enough to keep his place for the moment. If Arsene spends his $300m on a defender it might still take a GW or 2 to bed him in. If Holding loses his place it's no problem replacing him with another 4.5 if you don't mind using up an FT.

      I'm on WC too

      Considering a defense of Amat Collins/Masouaku Baines/Williams Smith Valencia/Shaw.

That would leave me with two mid spots to fill, currently on Barkley and Lamela but I could downgrade the defense a bit to go for Ozil/Payet>Barkley.

      Thoughts?

Is Eriksen going to drop before the deadline? If so is it worth doing Eriksen > Bolasie/Barkley/Lamela?

Have 2 FT but still think Eriksen is the best long term pick..

Yes Eriksen will drop. But that doesn't mean you have to sell him. I also think Eriksen is thr better long term pick

Nolito a good differential? Pep's team looks like they have goals in them this season irrespective of fixtures. Any other alternaitive? Current midfield is:

    Hazard/Nolito/Barkley/Redmond/Capoue

Think he has a good chance of starting ahead of Sterling/Navas? Movement is very important for wingers, they have to be there to tap it in, remember? 🙂

He looks great but it's a very expensive punt. I think he's well ahead of Navas and if he keeps a starting place should be well in the points. My concern is $50m Leroy Sane - when he's ready where does he play?

        1. DASHING FC

Good point. I think Sane is a future starter for City though. Pep will look to develop him over this season and the next to make him real quality, hence the hefty investment.

Love seems to be a 4m holding his place. However, he didn't look very good yesterday. Either of those two would be firmly glued to my bench for a while.

Any help gratefully received, just got back from holiday and missed the first couple of gameweeks.

Looks like Fischer and Carroll are the most urgent but cant afford Redmond and Negredo without downgrading Firmnho or Tadic for a hit.

Carroll is injured and out for 6 weeks. Fischer has been a sub until now. Avoid both. Don't think Leko's seen much/any action either.

Apart from Redmond (already have Tadic) who is the best 6.5m MF for this front 8 for the medium term (4-6 GWs)

    Hazard Townsend Fletcher Tadic xxxxxxxxx

    Aguero Ibrahimovic Gray

Any views and ideas would be welcomed
