Finally it’s upon us.

We emerge from the darkness of an international break to be thrown into the biggest match-up of the season as Manchester United face Manchester City at Old Trafford – Jose Mourino versus Pep Guardiola.

The appetite and expectation for this match is huge. Even without the presence of Sergio Aguero for the visitors, the sheer volume of talent on show is somewhat bewildering.

Fantasy managers will have mixed feelings. There will be those hoping for a spectacle and for the goals to flow, whilst others, perhaps banking on defensive acquisitions, will be looking for this stormy fixture to pass without significant incident and with clean sheets preserved.

One thing seems certain – we are not about to be eased back into domestic action. Even this early in the campaign, there are reputations at stake that will ensure this will be a gripping encounter.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I wouldnt say they have been lucky. City should have scored 1 or 2 more goals to put the game out of reach

Poor keeping / defending. There wasn't a United player even challenging for the ball.

Giving soft goals up is still City's Achilles heel

See below. He's always received a bit of credit for his work-rate actually. Watch some Bundesliga.

He has been poor today though, but so has Lingard, Fellaini, Rooney etc.

        2. Somalion
          • 16 Years
          9 years, 7 months ago

His work rate was frequently talked about in the Bundesliga, so I can't agree that he's lazy. Headless at times, as we've seen today, but the guy works his backside off. If we're to say he didn't want to work hard for Klopp in his last season at Dortmund, then none of the other players did either. He was disappointing, so were most of the team.

This performance should teach him to learn respect. He's not good enough for United at the moment and now the evidence is clear. He needs to pull himself together. Mata deserves to start ahead of him.

Very talented player. But a bit like Hazard he just wants to play with the ball while completely disregarding the work required off it.

He's not a right winger, he's a number 10. Don't buy him if you're not gonna play him in his best position, the team would be so much better with him there instead of Rooney. It's like Kagawa all over again.

He definitely isn't a bad GK, but just wasn't suited to a ground-ball game. He'd regularly take two or three touches under pressure to find a short pass & it was painfully obvious how uncomfortable on the ball he was.
