Michail Antonio’s incredible rise in status has been a gift to Fantasy Premier League managers.

Modestly priced at 7.0 in the initial price list, we wondered if he could possibly maintain last season’s form and truly provide an alternative to a pricey Dimitri Payet in the West Ham ranks.

Yesterday’s 4-2 reverse to Watford perfectly captured the current relationship between the pair.

Payet’s quality and craft was in evidence but, as we’d previously highlighted in Saturday’s members article, it was Antonio ultimately providing the end product and bigger returns.

For all his talent, Antonio’s form is nullifying Payet’s appeal given the difference in output and price.

With the Hammers defence looking fragile, ensuring that Slaven Bilic’s side must chase goals, Antonio’s stock remains buoyant despite West Ham’s indifferent form.

The fixture list also offers reassurance that he can go on delivering.

Antonio duly climbs to second spot in our midfield Watchlist rankings – only Chelsea’s Eden Hazard sits above him in our current reckoning.

Elsewhere in midfield, Roberto Firmino’s two-goal haul in Liverpool’s emphatic win over Leicester has him climb the Watchlist ranks and into the top three.

We had previously stuck by the Brazilian, overlooking his compatriot Philippe Coutinho and the mounting claims of Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana.

There’s little doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s midfield will continue to share the points but Firmino appears to be the most likely to come out on top. A creator as well as an executor of goals, he remains pivotal to Klopp’s attacking gameplan.

Again, the fixture list is kind enough to suggest that further returns will flow.

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling holds his rank despite an anonymous display at Old Trafford.

Kevin De Bruyne makes a strong case to supersede the winger but, like the Alexis Sanchez vs Santi Cazorla battle at Arsenal, price is a factor here.

Sterling appeared to be charged with pinning Luke Shaw back against United, which limited his attacking impact. That won’t be the case against Bournemouth at the Etihad in Gameweek 5 – we will re-assess his stock following that.

As mentioned, Cazorla is now edging Sanchez in our thinking, purely because, with Sergio Aguero’s return looming, the funds for the Chilean look too big an obstacle.

Arsenal have the fixtures to produce profit in the coming weeks so midfield cover looks wise – Cazorla can offer that for a price of 7.6 – a 3.4 saving compared to the outlay on Sanchez.

Whilst we have little doubt that Sanchez will dominate and potentially blitz Hull City in Gameweek 5, in the mid-term, Cazorla is the more realistic cover of Wenger’s attack.

That has also seen Mesut Ozil drop out of our thinking.

Ozil has surrendered some set-piece duties to Cazorla and the Spaniard is keeping pace in terms of chance creation. Having claimed consecutive goals from the spot, it’s penalty duties that provide the deciding factor.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning all. Thoughts on the above. The Cazorla decision is against my better judgement as Sanchez clearly can and likely will outscore him, but the price difference, and Santi's form thus far is a big factor.

Are we right to look at Firmino over the rest? Toyed with the idea of placing Lallana too - might still edge him to the ranks.

Stick with sanchez over Caz but Firmino and Antonio are a must have.

Think Mane is going to be the one, looks very dangerous. Santi has penalties but not sure we can rely purely on that. Would go Sanchez but can't afford with Ibra and Kun upfront.

Yes, Mane is another factor. Again though, while there's only a small price difference, it has to be a factor. Every 0.1 really counts this season and I'm yet to be convinced that Mane will out pace Firmino but a big margin.

You know I love him, though 😉

Cazorla has more than penalties - he has corners, free kicks, and he put in some sublime passes that could have easily turned into assists.

I'm personally looking to have capoue as a fourth mid when aguero is back, will allow me to still have Ibra and kun if I choose cazorla. I got Antonio in last night...

Initially, my thoughts are why is the article replacing the good ones that are no longer there.

Sanchez has to be ahead of Cazorla. Had that penalty not been awarded you wouldn't have considered Cazorla.
I can understand why you think Firmino is the best of the Liverpool mids but surely Mané is a few steps above Coutinho and Lallana

Do you mean the Scout Notes?

I have mentioned this previously - we've moved to produce the Stock Check on the same day as the matches and felt that the Scout Notes had material in which stole from Treatment Table and, in particular, this Much we Know.

We ended up repeating far too much material.

We never produced an article on Saturday or Sunday nights previously so it's not a case of cutting back on effort, it's genuinely that we felt that Notes were far too weighty and that the material was better distributed across other articles.

Interested to get other folks views.

I personally think addressing the Watchlist on Sunday is a good option as it ensures we look at the ranks far earlier than we did last season, when often it wasn't until Wednesday when we considered and revised them.

I have posted about the Scout Notes previously - I think the thing that is missing at the minute (which could be included in the Stock Check perhaps) is a more detailed rundown of the various matches. Currently the Stock Check and Watchlist only pick up on a pretty limited number of players and often only those who did very well or badly. I'd like a bit more on the less exciting options and games, for example how did Bony do yesterday on his debut? This would allow us to have some analysis of 'sleeper' picks who may come good

The content you describe is exactly the stuff we've earmarked for new Members articles.

We're taking on a new writer in order to produce five members articles during the week.

We will likely be covering monitor articles on individual players with Bony, Benteke and Pogba early subjects.

I 100% agree with your assessment and prefer how it is this season Mark. I always found Scout Notes far too waffly and would usually ignore them and wait for This Much We Know. This season I have been having a quick scan through the Stock Check and always read the Watchlist article.

How about a 'From the Gut' article to go out after last match each GW? Follows Dugout Discussion and is a filler prior to articles such as Stock Check. Essentially its a short missive commenting on the shocks, surprises and expected happenings of the past few hours reflecting the mood of what we see on the boards almost immediately. Short but sweet and from the gut. Keeps the boards fresh as we digest the past action.

Forgot about that. It could be that or something more punchy and which is written ready to come out asap after the final whistle. So its a real 'from the gut' view on what we have seen and representing the mood of the boards. Would keep things fresh at a time when people are at their most focused on FF.

Firmino is a season keeper for sure. I stupidly took him out for Barkley in Week 2 but he was the first name in my squad and should never have left. The guy is pure quality, and offers a consistency rarely seen. Mane will be 15 points one week, 2 the next, whereas Firmino will keep on scoring until Week 38.

I went for Cazorla on WC over Ozil and Sanchez because that was already a planned downgrade to fit Kun it, so it saved me another transfer and -4.

            Paid off big time yesterday.

As a Collins owner, I'm obviously gutted by his personal showing yesterday and think he will get dropped next week, but it was a sensible decision to pick him up at that price and with those fixtures. Sadly yesterday truly showed that West Ham can't defend!

We only put Collins in the Watchlist last week - it was Reid until then.

Collins got the traffic after his goal at Chelsea, plus its the power of Total Score vs his 4.5 value.

Collins hanging on - just not convinced on other West Ham options.

Townsend just - yeah - Zaha close. Next four fixtures are strong enough to keep him in there.

im sure over the season sanchez will get more points & double returns but i need to think about the balance of my team.
Yes it will hurt those weeks sanchez blitz it & people have him as captain but if i have ageuro (who i usualy captain) then i feel over course of the season it should be ok . I want arsenal, utd, chelsea & liverpool attacking cover so its cazorla

I retained snodgrass , benched Capaoe that's 10 mil starting price can rotate possible leaves lots of money for other areas and to play fixtures and or form

I think the City situation is a bit of a misread. KDB, if healthy, is several leagues ahead of Sterling in both class and potential -- there is a much bigger gap between those two than between the Arsenal players, for example.

While the conventional stats shine favorably on him, Sterling seems to only thrive when SAS or Aguero are snowplowing ahead of him, drawing defenders away so he can get so much space that his inferior finishing skills do not hobble him. He was immense in gw3, but that was all tactics. Kun was triple teamed, as their opponents chose their poison and basically capitulated to Sterling.

KDB has it all, besides gas in the tank in the last ten minutes if a derby, and is good enough to create chances for himself and his teammates from anywhere on the pitch IMO.

KDB did really well indeed, was immense yesterday but not much of a real threat the other 3 GWs. Has to repeat the performance a few times before I consider changing my team to fit him in

Not a fan of Firmino. I'll stick with Mané.

Sanchez WILL outscore Cazorla but yeah, the downgrade is tempting

Hi Mark, I miss the watchlist updated articles this season where you provide an update on the watch list for the goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards. I also miss the updated date that used to be on the watchlist widget so you would know how up to date it is.

Should I wait one more game to take Ozil out for Santi against Hull ot do it this Gw.
Enough in bank to get Augero back in Gw 6

              How about Holebas?

Great attacking stats. Started career as a striker. 4.5 with great fixtures coming up.

Started him this week ahead of Shaw and got the rewards. (Pretty good week with holding Aguero and starting Capoue:))

Looks a great option. He was top three shortlist for player of the month and after his goal yesterday should be completely nailed. I think Kenedy was brought in to play that role though so still a wait and see for me. Watford's fixtures from GW6 are superb.

                  Thoughts on this WC?

                  Pickford - Jak

                  Baines - Walker - Shaw - Amat - Kingsley

                  Hazard - Cazorla - Capoue - Antonio - Mane

                  Diomande - Iheanacho* - Ibra

                  Play 3-5-2 each week

*move to Aguero week after with FT

Don't really like playing 2 strikers every week. Capoue will likely stop scoring very soon and you'll then be stuck - his stats from previous years are dire

Mane -> Cazorla, then you got funds 2 upgrade campbell.
And I would go Ibehenacho for Kane this gameweek

For those who watched the Watford game yesterday (and previous weeks), has Capour just come across a bizarre run of form or do we think he's actually a decent option to make our starting 11s this year?

From the highlights, he seems to smash a screamer into the top corner but do very little else creative or threatening.

Regression imminent. At least from the 3 first gws he had a unsustainable high conversion rate

Cheers - thought that was the case. Maybe good as a 5th mid to be benched in that case but not to rely on as a 4th mid

My thoughts as well. He does seem to be a better choice than most 5.5 mids (most of us need one of them with all the heavy hitters), but I rather rely on Snodgrass or King I think. Much better stats.

This seems to be the best way to get Aguero back

                    Özil + Lukaku > Snodgrass/King/Capoue + Aguero

If Lukaku is in great form I might take out Ibrahimovic, but I'm really scared to get rid with his high ownership..

Getting rid of Ibra is madness imo. He and Kun will go goal to goal all season.

Ibra even scored this gw despite being part of a pathetic team performance, and he was unlucky not to have another. He's always been the type of player that only needs half a sniff on goal to score, and this is what you want from a premo forward because it means they're still more than likely to still score when their team is playing poorly or are facing a tough fixture.

Anyone getting rid of Ibra will be punished this season.

Season keeper for me and well on track to having a 30 goal season plus assists. He hasn't even fully settled yet so imagine what happens once he does.

In terms of Collind being nailed on, it did look his place to lose, the problem is he may have done enough yesterday to lose it

Lamela is home to Sunderland & Redmond is home to Swansea.

Antonio has started the last 27 Premier League games for West Ham.

Slaven Bilic made every one of those lineups.

Working on my wildcard team, would you rather have:

                    A. Ibra + Snodgrass
                    B. Lukaku + Cazorla

Ill be keeping cash in the bank for one of my strikers to Kun next week so my team looks like this:

                    Foster
                    Valencia, Baines, Evans, 4.5, Amat
                    Hazard, Firmino, Antonio, Cazorla/Snodgrass, Capoue
                    Aguero, Lukaku/Ibra, Benteke

                        A

If Aguero drops to 12.9m, I'm looking at similar:
                        Foster - 4m
                        Valencia - Williams - Evans - Holebas - Amat
                        Hazard - Cazorla - Antonio - Lallana - Capoue
