An impressive first-half display was enough to see Liverpool beat Chelsea in their own backyard for a second successive season.

Phillipe Coutinho played his part, eased into the Liverpool starting XI courtesy of Roberto Firmino’s untimely groin tweak; he was back amongst the points. As was Diego Costa, who maintained his relentless early season form without seeing yellow. Here’s the Stock Check following Friday’s action…

On the Rise

Diego Costa
Another goal and no booking, this version of Costa undoubtedly requires serious consideration.

Many recruited the Chelsea man as an understudy for Sergio Aguero until Gameweek 6; he has passed that audition.

Some will surely be pondering their options before clicking the eject button to welcome back the City man. Having returned in each of his five Gameweeks, with five goals so far, they will be considering a downgrade in midfield to retain Costa’s services.

However, the Spaniard will need to demonstrate fixture proof qualities to maintain such form: Arsenal, Leicester City and Manchester United arrive in the next four Gameweeks.

Philippe Coutinho
Having blanked in three Gameweeks since his big haul at Arsenal, the Brazilian returned to the Liverpool line-up and provided a delicious assist for their opener. That was enough to seal him two bonus points.

On a night when Roberto Firmino missed out with a minor injury, Coutinho took his opportunity to strengthen the hold on his 28% Fantasy Premier League ownership.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
Okay, it’s too early to panic but, given the competition for spots and funds in our squads, Hazard can’t afford to embark on a run of blanks.

Three points from his last two rings alarm bells, as does the dip in his vital statistics – Hazard has mustered two goals attempts over these two blanks, compared to 14 from the opening three Gameweeks.

The Chelsea Defence
Liverpool have had a tough opening with four away trips in the first five. However, Antonio Conte’s outfit don’t have that excuse.

The Blues have enjoyed three home matches but have just the shut-out against Burnley to show for it.

With a combined ownership of 39%, Chelsea’s back five are expensive investments and, with the aforementioned tough fixtures to come, future returns appear limited.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Heaton Pickford
    Valencia Baines Masuaku Evans Amat
    Hazard Ozil Sterling Antonio Hojbjerg
    Ibra Lukaku Benteke

    Have nothing itb and 1ft
    Wildcarded int break
    How to get Aguero bacK?????
    Currently on this:
Haz to firm or Ozil to Cazorla
    Sterling to bolasie
    Lukaku to aguero

I like this because Aguero covers sterling, bolasie covers Lukaku and I need Liverpool in my team and also with haz not performing well and with his bad fixtures????

    Any other suggestions????

Hazard to mane is very tempting, aguero is coming back in replacing ibra, will hold fire on these 2 fts til saturday morning.
Anyone else considering liverpool double up? Firmino owner.

I see Aguero is now 12.9 and red flagged still. Can someone explain which day will be the best day to buy him in terms of price changes?

Next Friday? Or it doesn't matter and I can do it now? How long are people waiting for until they hit that button?

    1. Worzel Gummidge
      9 years, 10 months ago

Once his red flagged is removed his price will be locked for 7/8 days. Just keep an eye on when it is removed. He wont drop lower than 12.9 and could be sometime before he rises.

You'll get a weeks grace price wise. He's still banned until after the League cup game which is his third game and then you should get a week of frozen price.

    3. Pasqualinho
      • 17 Years
      9 years, 10 months ago

He will get price protected for (estimated) 8 days once the Swansea cup game has finished (assuming both this match and the Bournemouth league game don't get postponed or abandoned). So if you want him before Swansea then he won't be back up to 13 by then, and your transfer will not count towards his next rise. If you don't want him for the Swansea game, and you want your transfer to count towards a price rise you should probably wait until the Friday before the Spurs game.

  4. Worzel Gummidge

Zaza dropping was a kick in the nuts but all part of the game. Keeping for the time being as they have some lovely fixtures.

In this game you need to be proactive instead of reactive sometimes. Hazard and Costa have been good for me so far but form dropping and fixtures coming up mean easy decision for me.

    Costa to Aguero
    Hazard to Firmino

His price is as low as it's going to go now. Buy him whenever this week (sooner the better as his value may in fact go back to 13.0 in a few days). Ignore the red flag, they will remove it in the next day or two.

I dont want to wc yet, trying to keep it for later and wiiling to take a hit to bring kun back. Also no way to let Zlatan, have him from start..So my front 8 are
    Sanchez-Hazard-Eriksen-Firmino-Capoue
    Zlatan-Defoe-Gray.
As i see my only option is Hazard to De Roon and Defoe to Kun with exact cash.Is there any better option?

    Ibra Costa Lukaku
    0.5 ITB

To get Kun back in, would you:

          Yeah, I'm thinking of something like this;

It doesn't matter, press it when you like.
If you press it straight away you still get the rises (and falls) of anyone you bring in now, but your transfers don't count towards price rises. If you make changes for temporary inus points then press the button at the end of the week your minus points get cancelled and your transfers do count towards price rises.
If you're going to do the latter just make sure you don't forget to press the button before the next GW deadline

After considering it for a second I have come to the conclusion that playing Capoue as a 4th mid is going to end an absolute tears. If you are doing it at least have Zaha/Snodgrass to rotate at least based on fixtures.

Capoue firmly on my bench. This won't continue. No point chasing those points now
