We’ve now launched our latest captain poll to canvas your opinion on the likely favourites and differential options for the armband in Gameweek 6.

You can find the poll in the middle column of the homepage or at the bottom of the same page on mobile.

Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them or not.

With 17 players earning double-digit Fantasy Premier League points hauls in Gameweek 5 there is already an abundance of choice for the captaincy.

That selection gets even tougher this Gameweek when early season armband favourite Sergio Aguero (12.9) returns from a three-match suspension to travel to Swansea. With three goals in as many Premier League games and Manchester City looking unstoppable as an attacking force, the Argentine is nailed on to be among the poll favourites.

For the 76% of FPL managers without Aguero his team-mates, Raheem Sterling (8.4) and Kevin De Bruyne (10.7), offer strong alternative options. The midfield duo have five goals and seven assists between them this season.

One of Gameweek 5’s double-figure FPL wonders, Romelu Lukaku (9.3), could even snatch a lead over Aguero, on the back of four goals in the last two games. The Belgian travels to a Bournemouth side that has conceded the most “big chances” in so far. Lukaku, who has the most shots on target over the last two matches, has been drafted in by 66,660 FPL managers since Saturday.

Liverpool’s midfield offers a raft of viable captaincy candidates this week.

Robert Firmino (8.4), Sadio Mane (9.0) and Philippe Coutinho (8.1), all have two goals and an assist each already and host a Hull City side that tops the goal attempts conceded both in and out of the box tables. Of that trio, Coutinho is the most owned in FPL, with 27.9 managers showing faith in him.

For those looking to take a risk a side in form, Watford offers a series of candidates ahead of their visit to Burnley: they’ve claimed just one clean sheet this season.

Etienne Capoue (4.9), the surprise leading FPL points scorer and top owned midfielder, has four goals already and will surely be promoted from the bench to many Fantasy managers’ first XI this Gameweek.

In attack, Troy Deeney (6.9)’s penalty-taking prowess could be tempting as could Odion Ighalo (7.3)’s resurgent form. The Nigerian has fired off more goal attempts than Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez over the last two Gameweeks.

A special mention also goes to last Gameweek’s poll leader Zlatan Ibrahomovic (11.9), who has shed more than 51,000 FPL managers this week following Manchester United’s lacklustre display against Watford.

The big Swede, who has the most goal attempts of any striker over the last two Gameweeks, will be hoping to add to his four goals and assist  this term when champions Leicester City drop in on Old Trafford.

The only player to match Ibrahimovic’s goal attempt tally over the last two Gameweeks is Michail Antonio (7.3), who looks another strong armband candidate when Southampton visit the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Antonio’s 14% owned West Ham team-mate Dimitri Payet (9.4) is another to consider, after notching an impressive four assists in the last two Gameweeks.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

    Hey guys need your opinion:

    Ibra --> Aguero
    Hazard --> Sánchez

My only concern is not been able to get ibra again later on the future (he is almost at 12.0 and i will only be selling him on 11.7), idk why but i got a feeling on the long run he will still outscore everyone excepto aguero. What do you guys think?

I think selling Ibra is a mistake. But I also think not having Aguero is a mistake

I currently have lukaku, costa and ibra ... i got the funds to get kun for ibra. But is it worth? or should i rather replace costa but then i'll need to skip sánchez.

I like those moves, always a risk selling players quality of Ibra and Hazard but Sanchez & Kun could provide some massive hauls and you simply can't have everyone.

Ibra is not almost at 12.0, though. It's more correct to say he's almost at 11.8. Which means selling at 11.7 isn't so bad.

Ibrahimovic and Ozil to Aguero and Sterling for an 8 point hit?

Not too happy about the hit, but Aguero/Sterling are rising and Ibra/Ozil dropping, and city are smashing it

I'm trying to decide on a 4.4m midfielder. Which of these options would you go for?

    a) Fletcher - the dullest of them all, just a constant source of 2 pts
    b) de Roon - is he nailed on?
    c) Hojbjerg - has the biggest upside, but has come off the bench in past 2 PL games and has Europa League rotation as well
    d) Mendy - was supposed to be Kante's replacement, but has been injured and may also be rotated due to CL football

thoughts? i realise it may be a little top heavy, and will be looking to get rid of redmond if he doesn't perform next week.. Not on WC.

    Heaton

    DeBruyne Capoue Alli Redmond
    Aguero Ibra Lukaku

Lukaku's form is tempting to keep hold of, but he's a troll. Flukey goal last game, so that leaves 1 assist, which hardly deserved to be an assist given that Coleman made the goal.

Probably not best to plan transfers when on wildcard, especially 2 but what about a front 8 of:

    Firmino - Sterling - Antonio - Capoue - Snodgrass

    Aguero - Ibra - Lukaku

Can play Capoue for Burnley (a) and Bournemouth (h)

Ibra has Leicester (h) then Stoke (h) when Sanchez has Chelsea (h) + Burnley (a). I think Ibra could outscore him in those 2 games, although I am a little worried about our overall performances right now.

Then Ibra+Snodgrass to Sanchez+Striker at 7.6 or below ? As Sanchez gets Swansea+Boro (h) and Ibra has Liverpool+Chelsea (away)

I think you're correct that Ibra will outscore Sanchez over the next 2 - I think it's also not beyond the realms of possibility to say he'll outscore Aguero (at least, RMT tool thinks so). So your plan is not necessarily a bad one.

I'd agree - planning on both, and probably losing Ibra from GW8. But I do think that the Ibra to Kun swap in GW8 is viable. I was toying with Kun GW6, Ibra 7, Kun 8 but that will rely on a lot of luck with no other injuries or players coming to the fore.

This is what I'm looking at.
          Mane Antonio Sterling Capoue 4.5/4.4
          Aguero Ibra Lukaku

Could leave enough in bank to get Sanchez for Burnley potentially (for Sterling or Mane)

Unfortunately due to my team dropping like a stone I have taken a -8 last night to get the following front 8:

      Sanchez - Sterling - Antonio - Capoue - Snodgrass
Aguero - Ibra - Benteke (may become Deeney/Bony)

The problem with your plan is to commit to removing Ibra, if he really wakes up in the next 2 home hames with over 60% ownership will you still drop him for Sanchez? If you dont, then would you want to go without Sanchez instead with those fixtures? IMO, can see Kun, Ibra and Sanchez being the top scorers this season, so would plan to have those 3.

What do you guys think about this front line?

    Lamela FIrmino Sanchez Capoue Fletcher
    Lukaku Kun Costa

Lamela -> Townsend and Firmino -> Mane IMO. Lamela a rotation risk as it stands.

I prefer FIrmino to mane, his stats are ridiculous

If I recall, Mane missed out the Burnley game, when both Coutinho and Firmino racked up mega stats without converting.

That skews that data a bit

except for lamela, I like it. Lamela->antonio? Or even snodgrass. Espec. from gw 8

I dont want to take more hits this week so keeping lamela, I reall like Snoddy and would try to fit him in the team

Not much love for Lovren at 4.9?

I know Liverpool are pretty weak defensively but they have some great fixtures coming up, reckon it's worth it?

I think it's worth it. The first choice back four and keeper are getting together at just the right time. Karius is supposed to be the dogs

Would rather Ighalo if you can afford, as crazy as that sounds!

Ighalo's fate was sealed with that awful miss. That is not a striker on form

Sounds like a good idea. Big points if Watford can keep a cleanie, which they haven't so far

I think GW4 and 5 wildcards were too early for points, because we couldn't really tell who's nailed, which new signings are good to get etc. GW6 wildcard is the first one that's good for finance and points.

    Firmino Antonio Walcott Redmond (Capoue)
    Aguero (C) Ibra (VC) Lukaku

    Maybe play Capoue now?

Only way to have made that happen is by dropping Ibra but buying him back will be nigh on impossible without some major surgery

As much weight as not benching Capoue holds, not sure you can possibly bench Snodgrass v Liverpool (or ever)

Actually with that team GW8 offers better AOA I think. Unless its too risky after internationals

    Team
    Heaton, Foster
    Baines, Valencia, Gibson, Amat, Mcauley
    Capoue, Snodgrass, Antonio, Sterling, Cazorla
    Aguero(c), Ibra, Lukaku
Sitting top 25k atm even with 76 bench points!

Think team is good to go for a push into top10k?
