We’ve now launched our latest captain poll to canvas your opinion on the likely favourites and differential options for the armband in Gameweek 6.

You can find the poll in the middle column of the homepage or at the bottom of the same page on mobile.

Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them or not.

With 17 players earning double-digit Fantasy Premier League points hauls in Gameweek 5 there is already an abundance of choice for the captaincy.

That selection gets even tougher this Gameweek when early season armband favourite Sergio Aguero (12.9) returns from a three-match suspension to travel to Swansea. With three goals in as many Premier League games and Manchester City looking unstoppable as an attacking force, the Argentine is nailed on to be among the poll favourites.

For the 76% of FPL managers without Aguero his team-mates, Raheem Sterling (8.4) and Kevin De Bruyne (10.7), offer strong alternative options. The midfield duo have five goals and seven assists between them this season.

One of Gameweek 5’s double-figure FPL wonders, Romelu Lukaku (9.3), could even snatch a lead over Aguero, on the back of four goals in the last two games. The Belgian travels to a Bournemouth side that has conceded the most “big chances” in so far. Lukaku, who has the most shots on target over the last two matches, has been drafted in by 66,660 FPL managers since Saturday.

Liverpool’s midfield offers a raft of viable captaincy candidates this week.

Robert Firmino (8.4), Sadio Mane (9.0) and Philippe Coutinho (8.1), all have two goals and an assist each already and host a Hull City side that tops the goal attempts conceded both in and out of the box tables. Of that trio, Coutinho is the most owned in FPL, with 27.9 managers showing faith in him.

For those looking to take a risk a side in form, Watford offers a series of candidates ahead of their visit to Burnley: they’ve claimed just one clean sheet this season.

Etienne Capoue (4.9), the surprise leading FPL points scorer and top owned midfielder, has four goals already and will surely be promoted from the bench to many Fantasy managers’ first XI this Gameweek.

In attack, Troy Deeney (6.9)’s penalty-taking prowess could be tempting as could Odion Ighalo (7.3)’s resurgent form. The Nigerian has fired off more goal attempts than Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez over the last two Gameweeks.

A special mention also goes to last Gameweek’s poll leader Zlatan Ibrahomovic (11.9), who has shed more than 51,000 FPL managers this week following Manchester United’s lacklustre display against Watford.

The big Swede, who has the most goal attempts of any striker over the last two Gameweeks, will be hoping to add to his four goals and assist  this term when champions Leicester City drop in on Old Trafford.

The only player to match Ibrahimovic’s goal attempt tally over the last two Gameweeks is Michail Antonio (7.3), who looks another strong armband candidate when Southampton visit the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Antonio’s 14% owned West Ham team-mate Dimitri Payet (9.4) is another to consider, after notching an impressive four assists in the last two Gameweeks.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Not sure I'd captain Capoue but nice punt.

      Like the Walcott pick.
Considering him myself. Just not sure he's nailed

Don't want to come off as knee-jerky but anyone else feel Valencia and Shaw looking pricy wth imo less CS possibility going forward.

While I surely feeling United will turn it around, I still feel there are some deep issues in that side that even though could produce wins and the odd attacking return from Valencia/Shaw, their CS potential will be erratic and most likely rise in goals against.

Some nice 5.0 options i am preferring. Even Lovren may be a better shout

      Walker is enticing.

    3. PvA

I think they're top value. They've had a bad time as of late but Mourinho will most likely turn it around. I wouldn't take Shaw/Valencia out for Dejan Lovren

      Maybe with no Hazard/Sanchez

    4. Obligatory
      10 years, 1 month ago

That's currently what I'm on, but don't think there is any better... even changing Ibra to Costa doesn't result in much gain in the midfield, assuming you have a similar budget and the same front three as me. Lukaku, Ibra and wanting Aguero

    5. Yome
      10 years, 1 month ago

No, Capoue has to be 4th mid now. I have similar mids (Marney for Snod) with Aguero, Costa and Zlatan up front

This midfield allows me to have Aguero | Ibrahimovic | Lukaku.

      I can't decide.

Mane is more explosive I think.

Firmino could chip in with goals all season though.

    A. KDB, Mcauley & Lallana

    B. Sterling, Firm & Walker

2FT used anything else worth changing for a hit?

    Heaton
    Valencia Evans Williams
    Sterling Mane(VC) Antonio Capoue
    Aguero (C) Lukaku* Benteke

    Pickford Ozil Kone Amat

    1. Energetics

  9. Energetics

    Foster Pickford
    Valencia Baines Collins Pieters Amat
    Mane Sterling Antonio Snoddy Capoue
    Aguero Ibra Lukaku

Anything worth a -4? Want to do Collins/Pieters to Holebas but better waiting to next week?

        1. papabouba

Looks decent. Plan for Sanchez for GW7 after Chelsea....

I also have Pieters and a WHM DF but for now I'm trying to bench them and pretend they'll go away by themselves....its more likely than a CS

          1. Energetics
            10 years, 1 month ago

Difficult to plan for Sanchez. Losing Ibra seems like the only way and I'm not sure so want to do that.

Yeah, they looked good value at the time but have conceded a combined 16 goals in just two weeks, horrible defences!

Hi guys.. made the mistake of benching Capoue (AGAIN).. However covered it by putting a tenner on him to score anytime..

    Foster - Pickford

    Shaw - Williams - Evans - Masuaka - Amat
    Sterling - Antonio - Ozil - Hazard - Capoue
    Benteke - Lukaku - Ibra

2 FT 0.0 ITB and some big issues to sort out.

Thinking Hazard & Masuaka to Firmino & Lovren.

I'm fine without Kun for next 2 GW's going to get him back for EVE.

KDB soaring out of range with these price rises. Wise to jump on him now IMO. Said this a couple times now but he will be the PFA player of the year.

Impossible with Kun-Zlatan-Lukaku front line. Maybe after GW7 I'll consider shipping Zlatan.

He probably will, but fpl wise we have to consider value. Especially how he plays with aguero back

Playing a different role too, not worth keeping at all
