After listing the players in our Scout Picks Squad earlier in the week the time has come to reveal our Gameweek 6 selections.

Thanks to some excellent budget options in defence and midfield we’ve been able to afford a top-heavy frontline in our preferred 3-4-3 formation.

Among the value picks who are helping us squeeze 11 players into 83m this week, is Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford. An impressive eight saves against Tottenham last weekend, coupled with a rock bottom price of 4.0 were our initial drivers for his selection. However, we also believe the 9.6% owned stopper could bring in clean sheet points, too, as visitors Crystal Palace will be without their current chief goal threat, Scott Dann, through injury.

With Watford left back Jose Holebas (4.5) emerging as an injury doubt we had to look around for another value defensive pick to replace him. For Manchester City’s trip to Swansea, John Stones (5.0) looks ideally placed to step into the breach and earn clean sheet points against a side that has scored only four times this term.

Leighton Baines (5.6) is another left back with a kind Gameweek 6 fixture, when he travels to Bournemouth. The 12% owned defender already has an assist and couple of clean sheets and also seems to be on spot-kick duties for a match overseen by Bobby Madeley, who has awarded three spot-kicks already in the Premier League this season.

Liverpool right back Nathaniel Clyne (5.5) was to have completed our trio but Holebas’ injury meant we had to find some extra cash. Luckily his team-mate Dejan Lovren looks nailed on for ‘Pool’s favourable home tie against Hull and at 4.9 offers us a handy cut-price replacement. The Tigers currently sit in the bottom four in terms of shots in the box.

Our midfield is also awash with value this Gameweek with Robert Firmino and Raheem Sterling the two most expensive picks at just 8.4.

Firmino is Liverpool’s most creative player by some distance and thanks to being fielded as a false nine at times this season the 9.5% owned Brazilian also offers strong goal threat. For the visit of Hull City, Sadio Mane (9.0) is another strong, albeit slightly more expensive, option.

Sterling’s underlying statistics can’t compete with his Manchester City team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, but with just one FPL point less than the 10.7 priced Belgian, we think the price difference gives the England winger the edge, particularly for those wildcarding and looking to draft in as many premium picks as possible.

Manchester City attacking assets look key this week for their visit to a Swansea side that has yet to keep a clean sheet at home.

West Ham’s Michail Antonio, the highest goalscoring midfielder this term and current leader of the midfield goal attempt table, offers sensational value at just 7.3. With Southampton conceding four goals in their two away fixtures this season, they look ideal visitors for the 17.5% owned England winger to add to his five strikes.

Completing our midfield is the best bargain of them all, Etienne Capoue. As FPL’s top points scorer it is little surprise to see his ownership swell to 35.8% and price rise to 5.0 from an initial valuation of only 4.5.

His underlying statistics suggest regression is on the cards, with four goals from just seven shots, but, at just a kind price, he’s difficult to ignore away to Burnley.

Topping the bill of our premium priced front line is Sergio Aguero (13.0) who is set to return to the Manchester City side after a three-match suspension. The 28% owned striker has registered a shot in the box every 20 minutes, faster than any other player, and is up against a Swansea side in the bottom three in terms of conceding close range attempts at home.

Romelu Lukaku (9.3) is expected to recover from a toe injury in time to lead the line for Everton’s visit to Bournemouth. Having bagged four goals and an assist in the last two, the 11.8% owned Belgian looks impossible to ignore this.

With four goals and two maximum bonus point returns Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic is FPL’s top scoring forward. The penalty taker faces a Leicester City side that has the second worst away record in terms of defensive blunders in an Old Trafford match overseen by Mike Dean, who has awarded four spot-kicks already this term.

Kyle Walker is unfortunate to find himself benched ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to Middlesbrough. The 30.9% owned defender’s 5.8 price tag was marginally too steep for us this Gameweek but as FPL’s top points scoring defender he looks another strong pick.

For our reserve midfielder Nathan Redmond’s potential away to a West Ham side which has conceded eight times in their last two Premier League matches gives the 8.5% owned Southampton man the nod. Crystal Palace’s Jason Puncheon (5.5) and Everton’s Yannick Bolasie (6.0) were also under consideration.

Our pick of the mid-price strikers this week is Vincent Janssen (7.8) who is expected to lead the line for Tottenham while Harry Kane recovers from an ankle injury. A convincing display could see his 1.5% ownership rocket after the ‘Boro clash.

The Community Champion

The community member who beats our picks by the biggest margin over the campaign will win a £100 Amazon Voucher and a place in our Contributors and Moderators League for the following season. The current champion to beat is Grand Thibauto who had a single point lead over us in Gameweek 4.

This week’s champion VS10_ has opted for a 3-5-2 formation of: Stekelenburg; Coleman, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Payet, Mane, Coutinho, Chadli, Sterling; Aguero, Austin.

You're just looking for someone to justify your desire to draft in Rashford. But you already know the risks. Just do it and live with the consequences.

I actually think he'll start the next two. But Deeney's up against two of the worst defences around.

Probably. United look better with Rashford but he has plenty of competition and Mou has yet to settle on a mid combo. Deeney is nailed and on pens with great fixtures. Heart vs head.

For that price, I'd really want a poor team's main goal threat - but both could be out of the points easily. Neither are really head picks.

Deeney is nailed on no matter what

Rashford is nailed on this weekend, after that his involvement depends on his performances as United have many more options than Watford do

Who is more likely to score this weekend? The bookies say Rashford (5/4 vs 9/5) - but who do you think?

After this week, both have a great fixture next weekend, especially Rashford. But after that Watford have better fixtures.

Both will price rise tonight or tomorrow.

If Rashford scores this weekend, he will go up at least 0.2 and probably 0.3 this week.

Deeney's stats are not that impressive this year but he will score steadily and has the bonus of pens.

      Rashford is a better player

Rashford plays for a better team but Deeney's team are in better form. United have a higher ceiling, therefore so does Rashford

Deeney plays more central although a more all round role. Rashford will probably play on the left although he may be moved centrally if Rooney is dropped.

Deeney is the safe option, Rashford the punt - which do you prefer?

Now that's more like it! 😀 Thanks Numb.

        My thoughts:
        - Watford a worse team, but better goal-scoring form.
        - Deeney's long-term fixtures are better, but having Rashford for the next two misses Deeney's best.
        - Stoke's a great fixture, Leicester's a pretty poor one imo.
        - Deeney's stats are really poor, but his fixtures have been shocking.

Oddly, if Rashford played for Watford and Deeney for United, I'd go Rashford for sure. 😕 😛

I suspect that Ighalo will score more than Deeney unless Watford get a lot of penalties (which is possible this season).

If only Iheanacho could be guaranteed more game-time, I would go for him, but therein lies the rub. When you have one of the best strikers in the world in front of you, time is going to be limited. However, Pep seems to be a very big fan of him

I've gone Coutinho instead of Firmino but I can't get the picture of Coutinho refusing to snog Klopp out of my head.

Is the love for Firm on here because we think he will get more minutes than Coutinho? Or just that he is better?

more minutes, plays higher up, manager loves him, central to every single attack

coutinho is much more all or nothing - firm more consistent

People on here would just ignore Coutinho's better stats for some reason. Not sure what he did to them

Much rather have Coutinho in my team though

If you watch the games then you can see Coutinho is probably better as a player too. That's subjective though

      1. PainInDiaz

You'd need to convert those stats into points. Firmino does it better than Coutinho.

On strictly FPL terms, firm > Coutinho.

You're looking at a small pool of data ATM though. Long term, Firmino will outscore Coutinho. Relax.

This. Seasons past Cout has trolled many a FPL manager. He's a great player, but firmino will treat you right. Cout will only disappoint. And then brace when you drop him just to rub it in.

    For the long-term...

    A) Ibrahimovic/Sterling - 343
    B) Sanchez/Mane - 352

    Fixtures favour B slightly

Anyone tempted by Karius? Could turn out a shrewd pick if he cements a spot, given upcoming fixtures. Should improve Liverpool defense.

      Just get Lovren!

But honestly I have more hope in our defence. Matip is a huge improvement and Milner does not leave gaps like Moreno.

    Stekelenburg Heaton

    Evans Holebas Walker Clyne Smith

Walcott Firmino Capoue De Bruyne Antonio

    Lukaku Aguero Diomande

Very nice! Walcott over Sterling is interesting. I know there's a price diff but you've gone premium with Clyne and the keeper so you clearly preferred Walcott.

He's such good value while he's starting that it's stopping me bring completely happy with Alexis.

Will Walcott keep his place? Perez will be pushing for game time.Perhaps downgrade one of your goalies and upgrade Walcott?

SCOUT PICKS CHALLENGE - GAMEWEEK 6

    GW5 results: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/comment/14150750

    ****** WHAT IS IT? ******

For those of you who haven't been around or aren't aware, every evening prior to the start of the gameweek FFS releases their picks of players for the gameweek, "Scout Picks", as well as 3 differentials before the first games to separate yourself from the crowd.

This is your way to have a bit of fun and challenge those scout picks with a set of your own (read instructions below). This will always open the day before the gameweek starts around 8pm, and whilst you don't have to play weekly, the more you play the better chance you have of winning!

Gameweek winners will also be awarded a spot in the Community Roundup article.

    ****** INSTRUCTIONS ******

Everyone can have their own scout picks (there is no limit on team value) but with one simple rule,

YOU CAN ONLY PICK ONE PLAYER FROM EACH TEAM
(yes, two of your players at least will be on opposing teams).

You can only have ONE submission, and your FIRST submission will be what is accepted. You also must respond DIRECTLY to this post (not to a reply on this post). FFS Scout Picks are automatically enrolled. Teams must comply with FPL formation rules and be submitted in an easy to read format, e.g.

    GK
    DEF DEF DEF
    MID MID MID MID
    FOR FOR FOR

Deadline for this gameweek is Saturday 24th September, 12.30pm.

    ****** SCORING ******

Regardless of number of applicants, scoring will be done by the following:

    1st place: 3 points
Top 4% of the population will rank "second" and score 2 points.
Top 10% of the population will rank "third" and score 1 point.

There is also a bonus point which everyone is eligible for. If you score higher than FFS' Scout Picks AND Differential Picks (i.e. 14 players), you will be awarded with a bonus point regardless of whether you were in the top 10% scoring positions or not.

Welcome to the game, and good luck.

Just think he's too expensive. Can spread the $ around for a more complete team.

How about this for a WC effort:

    Jaku | Pickford
    Walker | Lovren | Williams | Holebas | Amat
    Sanchez | Sterling | Firmino | Antonio | Capoue
    Kim | Kaku | Rashford

    Cheers for any thoughts
