The Dugout Discussion – Southampton vs Burnley

Share:

Sunday’s events conclude at St Mary’s as Southampton play host to Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

The Saints will be seeking a fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League, a seventh in a row in all competitions.

Visitors Burnley will need to improve their attacking threat in order to threaten that record. The Clarets have scored just five goals from their seven matches, creating three big chances – the fewest in the Premier Leauge.

The Saints attack has disappointed with just seven goals scored in their seven matches. However, the statistics show that they have the potential to improve on that record in this one: Claude Puel’s side have produced a shot on goal every 4.8 minutes at St Mary’s – only Liverpool have been more threatening in home matches this season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Solid. Given what's happened in the last couple of weeks though, 70 points is more than optimistic

    Current front 8:

    Sanchez , Sterling , Firmino , Antonio , Capoue

    Aguero , Lukaku , Deeney

I've wanted Walcott for 2 weeks but was never sure how to fit him in. With 2FT, is it worth doing Antonio & Deeney -> Walcott & Wilson?

I have the exact funds to afford it so will have to monitor price changes.

Exactly the same front 8 as me and same issue.

        Defence isn't amazing.

        Heaton & Pickford

        Lovren, Coleman, Holebas, Amat, Francis.

Might copy you actually and do the same move! Not convinced I'm ready to get rid of Deeney with his next couple of fixtures.

    Hmmm...

Still not happy with my defence or strike force, but I cant just let go of Zlatan.

Maybe last chance saloon this time out.

Also despite his brace, I am keen to offload charlie (Austin) 🙂

Ibra too good to keep blanking. Liverpool can't defend. Gotta be hopeful

Well, that was sort of my train of thought.

        Especially on set plays

I'm finally content with my strikers. Aguero, Costa, Lukaku. Barring injury reckon I could leave it with them till the end of the season. Ditch Zlatan, if you're not captaining him regularly he's just not worth it

That's a very good place to be.

I think I would swap for that now if offered.

I did Zlatan -> Wilson on Friday night. I was like you and reluctant to let go but once I did it, it felt very liberating.

Think you maybe right. I will soldier on for now, and save a transfer and do a double trade in 2 weeks i think
