A Watford wing-back and a Southampton striker bolster their CV’s as value acquisitions over Sunday’s encounters. Here’s the latest Stock Check from Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Jose Holebas
A superbly struck drive provided a second goal of the season, which, coupled with a first Hornets clean sheet of the campaign, saw the Greek return a 15-point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul.

Still hovering on four bookings, one away from a ban, Holebas nonetheless represents a key defensive option at just 4.5.

The Greek benefited from Walter Mazzarri’s decision to revert to a 3-5-2, ensuring that Holebas was granted the freedom to push forward from wing-back.

Given his attacking prowess and prominence at dead-balls, Holebas appears to offer potential that can present value even when Watford’s fixtures stiffen.

Holebas faces Swansea City and Hull City in the next two Gameweeks.

Charlie Austin
His two goals in Southampton’s 3-1 victory over Burnley took him to four in his last four Gameweeks to promote his value as a 6.4 third striker option.

In a weekend that saw both Christian Benteke and Jemaine Defoe draw blanks, Austin has emerged as a clear alternative that can help to liberate valuable funds.

Austin appears to have assumed spot-kick duties from Dusan Tadic, and although he’s yet to complete 90 minutes this season, he’s started the last three for Claude Puel.

Nathan Redmond
Having suffered more than 200,000 FPL sales over the last five Gameweeks, the 5.9 midfield option returned to the scoresheet with his first strike since Gameweek 1.

Redmond has impressed in a striker role without scoring in recent weeks but appears to be integral to Puel’s attacking ploys.

However, with Sofiane Boufal approaching match fitness, it remains to be seen how Redmond slots into the Saints system in the weeks to come.

Tom Heaton
On the losing side, Heaton nonetheless boosted his stock with a stunning performance which saw him make 11 saves and earn three points plus bonus.

Heaton has now made 40 saves in total, fetching 10 points from saves this season – more than any other goalkeeper.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Need to maybe do some early transfers to avoid drops (Capoue, Jaku, Baines, Antonio), but what?
    Team:
    Pickford Jaku
    Walker Holebas Smith Amat Baines
    Sanchez Firmino Antonio Sterling Capoue
    Aguero Lukaku Rashford

    A) Antonio, Capoue -> Walcott 4.3
    B) Antonio, Capoue -> Sigurdson, Allen
    C) Jaku->Grant?

Get rid of Rashford along with Antonio. Either of Austin or Wilson is a superior option to Rashford. Antonio to Walcott will of course appease your knee:-)

A the safe option. B could be a really good punt. Great fixtures for both medium term.

    Help meeeee

Feel I need a bit of to tinkering - debut season as a member and I seem to be not following the consensus enough!

    So thoughts on the below:

    A) Valencia to Mustafi
    B) Williams to Holebas
    C) Redmond to Stanislas/Bojan
    D) Capoue to Allen
    E) Williams & Redmond to Holebas & Chadli (-4)

Other mids are Sanchez, Firm & Son.

"I seem to be not following the consensus enough!"

If you have Sanchez, Firm, Son, Redmond, Capoue you're bussing the template

All them moves are rearranging the deck chairs

Except for the whisper of Bojan, which would be both maverick and a total waste of time

no problem! That is also a good option I think. Capoue had no stats to begin with. Just had hot feet. Allen is a good fourth mid for the foreseeable future

    Heaton
    Walker/ Stones/ Evans*
    Sterling/ Firmino/ Sanchez/ Remond
    Aguero/Lukaku/Defoe

    4.0/ Capoue/Williams/ Amat
    2FT 0ITB

    a) Redmond to Allen/ Stones to Mustafi
    b) sterling to walcott/ defoe to C. wilson (to fund arsenal defender week after)
    c) redmond to allen/ defoe to c. austin (fund defender upgrade next week)

As a Tadic owner I feel very unlucky not to have gained a few more points up to now. His stats are off the chart so it's hard to see why he's not up there with the big scorers 🙁 Also gives me quite a conundrum whether to sell or not with his tough fixtures coming up

Seems pretty clear to me. Others at the same price have better fixtures for a while and Soton are handling EL as well.

Doesn't matter how good Tadic is if Soton aren't scoring many.

December is going to be the month for Tadic I feel. Easy fixtures and Southampton really like playing weaker teams. For now I would sell as he has tough fixtures and has also lost penalties to Austin which is major source of goals this year.

His stats are always amazing, but he continues to dissspoint his owner as he's not able to convert into FPL points. Was also like that last year.

    Heaton
    Walker Kosi
    Mane Sanchez Allen Chadi Wallcott
    Aguero Lukaku Wilson

    Pickford Pieters Smith Gibson

Thinking of going with this.....any thoughts

    Kos Pieters Lovren Holebas Amat
    Sanchez Sterling Walcott Firmino Fletcher
    Kun Lukaku Rashford

Any thing worth a hit here? 0.2 ITB

Thinking about jumping on the Capoue -> Allen wagon to catch the rise and get the most value out of Capoue.. waste of a transfer?

Other options are to change a keeper as Foster's fixtures suck or just save my FT?

    Foster - Jaku
    Kosc - Stones - Valencia - Holebas - Amat
    Sanchez - Walcott - Snodgrass - Firmino - Capoue
    Benteke - Aguero - Lukaku

I don't feel forced to do anything this week, but suggestions are welcome.
    1FT, 0.6itb

    Karius (WBA)
Jagielka (bur), Pieters (hul), Kos (MID)
Bolasie (bur), Antonio (SUN), Firmino (WBA), Sanchez (MID)
Deeney (swa), Lukaku (bur), Aguero (SOU)

    Jaku, Holebas, Capoue, Kingsley

    Holebas over Jagielka or Pieters?

Save FT or do Antonio -> Walcott?
(my 2 main rivals in the league own Wally and captained him last week. Will lead +/- 20points ahead after this GW.)

    Heaton - Robinson
    Williams - Evans* - Holebas - Collins* - Amat
    Sanchez - Firmino - Sterling - Capoue - Carrick*
    Ibra - Kun - Tekkers

Let's try and nip Joe Allen in the bud. Is he ...?

    A) Playing in an advanced role, an absolute bargain going into Stoke's kind fixtures.

    B) A Capoue in sheeps clothing. He has scored 4 goals in 7 attempts in his last 4 games. Is that sustainable?
