Afternoon gents - head mashed at work today and am struggling to consider my transfers. Could I ask for some kind advice on this bunch:

    Heaton
    Walker - Bellerin - Holebas
    Sanchez - Walcott - Firmino - Antonio
    Aguero - Austin - Rashford

    Foster - Amat - Pieters - Fletcher

    1.1m and 2FTs.

Can’t see much that needs doing... can see why you’re struggling!
I would downgrade Antonio after this week and maybe use the money to upgrade one of Austin or Rashford.
Can you upgrade Fletcher to Allen/Capoue??

I suppose the language of this has been much analysed already?

But 'when' not 'if' lost in translation? Aren't they the same word in Spanish?

Guardiola:"I spoke with Sergio, he was very understanding & helped us from the bench. When Sergio decides to leave it will be his decision".

It has been lost in translation. He's basically saying Aguero will only go if Aguero wants to go.

yes, so therefore introducing the idea of Aguero going, unless that was in the question already?

I know there's a lot of talk about Arsenal being able to keep Sanchez and Ozil, but could they really do better?

Both got pushed out of Barca & Real, so let's say thats not an option. So where next?

Sanchez wouldn't get into Bayern line up, but would at Atletico (doubt he'd leave Arsenal for them though). Ozil wouldn't get into either because Bayern don't play a #10 do they? and he's literally the opposite of what Simeone asks from his players.

Then you have PSG (but do you really want to play in Ligue 1) which both would comfortably walk into.

    City...United...Chelsea...meh

    Interested in people's thoughts.

    1. Worzel Gummidge
        9 years, 1 month ago

        Both could go to Real.

Who would you drop at Real for Alexis? Benzema? They'd sooner go to Lewandoski or Auba I think.

Ozil got pushed out a while back when he was in top form - they care more about shirt sales over there

This. As long as Florentino is still there I can't see Ozil going back. Juventus pushed hard for Sanchez supposedly over the summer too.

Again, is Juve a massive improvement? I know they dominate Serie A, but hardly an exciting league.

They do fine in CL, but think Arsenal is a better place to be right now. He'd definitely get in there though!

Neymar signed a new contract today until 2021. Messi has his done too and I'm sure they'll be ready to sort Suarez out. They can't really afford to pay huge sums like Real so making sure they tie down their big names is their priority even if they have to give them 70k extra per week for instance.

Sanchez could go to City to work with Pep again, maybe Real if Ronaldo vacates the left flank.

I agree with you about Ozil though, pretty much has to stay put.

Ozil is a good enough No.10 for any team. Sanchez can get into the Bayern, Atletico, PSG or Man City lineup.

          • 10 Years
          9 years, 1 month ago

If that team plays #10. Which Bayer, Barca don't. He wouldn't go back to Real. He would not fit Atletico's team AT ALL. If other options are massive improvements is up for debate I think.

Who you dropping at Bayern for Sanchez? Ribery? Robben? Douglas Costa? Coman? Muller? seems like they don't need him! He would indeed get into Atletico PSG or City but would he leave for any of those? Not exactly world beaters (Atletico are unreal but can't match wages)

I rate Sanchez higher than all the Bayern players you have mentioned, except maybe Douglas Costa.
Juventus would also be an upgrade from Arsenal.

Fair enough. Doesn't seem that obvious though (maybe I'm an Arsenal fan trying to convince myself they won't leave 😆 )

Juventus being an upgrade again isn't obvious I don't think. Unless you're happy walking Serie A title every season with no competition. They've regressed a lot losing Pogba and Pirlo too

Real's Midfield is too crowded atm. They got Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, James, Isco.

Both Ozil and Sanchez Might Stay if Arsene's Contract gets Renewed.

Fair enough. If I was in your position I would strongly consider dropping Kun for Costa/Lukaku and upgrading Sterling. I admit though that it is hard to say whether I would go through with this as I'm not having to make the decision.

I did consider that (with Costa) but Chelsea's fixtures aren't great and City's are, and it still seems at least one week too early to consider dropping Aguero for me I think

Man City. Pep is basically saying he won't force him out, but it's interesting because that implies that Aguero could have a reason to want to leave 😐

We had a very similar situation where I work. A very senior guy, excellent at his job but when a new CEO came in he just wanted different things and said a similar thing to what Pep just said. The guy was gradually sidelined more and more until he decided to leave.

Hey guys, should I use my FT or save it? Not sure about shipping Antonio with Sunderland to come and Sterling could be worth another week?

          Stek
          Williams - Pieters - Vertonghen
          Sterling - Antonio - Walcott - Firminho
          Kun - Lukaku - Deeney

          Pickford - Holebas - Amat - Capoue

I would save FT, nothing urgent.
Keep Antonio for this week and then get rid.
You’re also doubling up a fair bit, double Everton defence, double City attack, double Watford attack... spread the love a bit

Yeah I wouldn't disagree. I haven't purposefully doubled up - just the way it's turned out. I'm going to do Deeney > Austin/Costa if the former blanks and am also aiming to ship Antonio & Sterling with Chadli, Lallana and Son on my watch list.

          Pickford
          Kosc, Williams, pieters, Amat
          Sanchez (c), firmino, sterling
          Aguero, lukaku, tekkers

          Team:
          Foster (Jaku)
          Walker, Smith, Valencia (Baines, Kingsley)
Ozil (C), Bolasie, Antonio, Firmino (Capoue)
          Lukaku(VC), Costa, Deeney

          2 FT, 4.3 ITB

          A. Sell Capoue and make 0.2 off of him for another midfielder (City mid/Payet)
          B. Also Sell Antonio, or bench him this week after buying another mid from A
          C. Sell Baines since his hamstring is injured for (Arsenal D/Southmapton D/ Liverpool D/Coleman)
          D. Jaku out for Pickford/Heaton
          E. Do I need to take the -4?

          Any suggestions?

            My thoughts:
Do not take a 4 point hit.
Keep and play Antonio for this week as they have got Sunderland and then sell next week.
You need to get rid of Jakupovic but it’s not urgent
I would hold onto Capoue for now, again not urgent.
I think your main priority is Baines so maybe Baines > Mustafi this week

Cheers, appreciate the advice. I'm trying to prepare for the case that Costa gets a yellow against Manchester and is out next week. In this case I would want to have another mid that is in better form than Bolasie/Capoue/Antonio. If i make the defense move, I would still have 1 more FT

I do have him, but he'll probably be a 2 or 3 pointer, Masuaku Cresswell Byram are out which basically leaves Arbeloa and Antonio to play as wingbacks.

I'm thinking Siggy as a replacement. Played up front in a Swansea team that looked good actually.

yeah, I'm thinking of doing Antonio to Lallana for -4. No L'pool cover and not enough money ITB for Coutinho/Firmino...

keep. playing the worst team in the league and westham will get quite a few. i am very good at predicting wham results as a lifelong fan and they will score 4 this week. i expect antonio to be involved in atleast 1 of them.

My Aguero plan is leave him in this week and if he doesn't start/gets subbed off earl/looks low on confidence then next week I'll do Aguero > Ibrahimovic for Burnley at home.

Sure a lot of you are thinking the same.

Personally I'd be gobsmacked if Aguero didn't start this weekend and still fully expect him to the the league's top goalscorer this season.
