Few players can compare to Sergio Aguero when it comes to punishing Fantasy Football managers.

So we should not be surprised by today’s 16-point haul – an emphatic message to the doubters who questioned his ability to deliver, amidst speculation on his pitch time and relationship with manager Pep Guardiola.

Aguero’s superb brace at the Hawthorns defied our preconceptions that this was a player low on confidence. His second, a sublime long-range curling effort, was typical of Aguero at his best, providing a chilling warning to those who now progress without him.

I’d personally been burned by a spiteful Aguero in the past – a factor which likely saved me from ejecting him prematurely.

Over the past two Gameweeks, almost 100,000 had decided on such a path – this evening they are left pondering the damage of that trade – not just as a result of today’s return, but also the points that could loom ahead of Manchester City’s obliging run of fixtures.

Middlesbrough are next at the Etihad, an opponent that recently proved stubborn at the Emirates and who earned a second successive clean sheet in today’s win over Bournemouth.

Many will now be praying for resistance from Aitor Karanka’s charges; hoping that City and Aguero are left weary by their midweek Champions League date with Barcelona, or even that Guardiola will risk stirring the pot by resting him from League action.

That seems unlikely.

The 4-0 win over West Brom saw City regain their mojo. The City boss will surely look to maintain momentum, with the League table hinting at the most competitive and open title race in memory.

Typically for a season now renowned for fickle fluctuation, in the space of seven days, things have turned on their heads: ignoring Aguero suddenly looks preposterous.

Certainly, there are no clear alternatives.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic again peppered the Old Trafford goal without reward against Burnley. Troy Deeney and Christian Benteke drew their third successive blanks, while Jermain Defoe lived off scraps and mustered a spot-kick in the defeat to Arsenal – his first goal in four outings.

Sunday will see both Romelu Lukaku and Diego Costa take their turn. Aguero already has a stronger points per match ratio than the latter, he’ll also surpass Lukaku should the Everton man dare to blank.

We await Harry Kane’s return and perhaps Arsene Wenger’s intentions with Olivier Giroud but, in all honesty, by the time they have established pitch time and form, Aguero will surely have taken further strides.

For all the funds we can pour into our midfield, there is currently no tu replacement for Aguero in attack and, with the majority of armbands set to head his way in Gameweek 11, we only risk further punishment by overlooking him.

A truly frightening prospect.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

You want to get rid of Jaku for sure. Deeney may do well against Liverpool because they do not seem good in the air. How about Jaku to Heaton and Clyne to Fuchs - does that work? Then save Deeney for Austin the week after.

Hey guys had a great GW10 but would have been even better if it wasn't for Valencia and Walcott injuries.
    Heaton(pickford)
    Bellerin,Valencia,Holebas(Amat,Love)
    Sanchez, Walcott, firmino, Redmond, capoue
    Aguero, lukaku, (Rondon)
    0.2 ITB, 2 FTs
Is Valencia, Walcott > stones, Coutinho a no Brainer? Or should I keep Walcott against Spurs and United? Or any other better moves? Any thoughts appreciated.

You can sell Walcott for now..watch and see how the return of Ramsey and Giroud affects his position in the team. If you have to bring him back you can transfer him in for Firminho, but coutinho seems essential and liverpool have good fixtures for now. So your move makes a lot of sense

      1. youknowho

Precisely my thoughts.. Could always get Walcott back after the tough fixtures for firmino and I still have Sanchez for arsenal cover. The Giroud brace has certainly made things interesting. Maybe I might bring my Giroud after a couple of games. And Coutinho just seems essential given their run of fixtures.

A little bit of concern regarding Kun's work rate and by extension his susceptibility to injury. Here's the quote and article

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37812671
"He was harrying people and that is not something that I associate with the Sergio Aguero of last season. He ran 10.2km today against West Brom. That is a lot different from last season when he was clocking less than eight on average." Guardoila

So basically Kun did more running, and more intense running, than he is used to. When Kun was lazing around the 8km/per match without pressing he was never far from injury and now with him clocking 10km/per match, pressing opponents, his injury risk must have gone up a couple of levels.

With all due respect, pressing McCauley and Olsson isn't the hardest thing to do and he'll come up against fitter and faster players than them. Should we be concerned about his possible injuries?

*disclaimer. I have zero expertise in medics. I'm basing this off footy chat

KDB came on yesterday and Gündogan didn't play deeper as a result, KDB went out to the left.

Maybe Pep is finding new ways to balance his team after they went on a winless run, it certainly worked yesterday.

I was surprised at how advanced he was yesterday, 2 goals, an assist, some corners, a blank at 5.4 is easier to take than when Sterling or Aguero does it.

      B or C

You should've done D for this GW. May as well hold on to Walcott now. Depends what other Arse and Pool you have.

B or C, although to be honest, I'd save the FT for the international break.

    1. Austin - Deeney
    2. Coutinho- Wally
    3. Coutinho- Sterling
    4. Wait 1 more GW to consider further.

Number 2 - I don't believe Walcott has gone sour just because he was injured this week. He will keep getting chances because of the way Arsenal play.

Having a shocker in FPL this season - ranked around 1.5m overall. Any thoughts on this squad (my current squad)?

    Heaton, Grant
Holebas, Lovren, McAuley, A Smith, Kingsley
    Coutinho, Walcott, Mane, Payet, Allen
    Lukaku, Aguero, Wilson

Thinking will eventually transfer Wilson to Austin (probably in a couple of weeks). If West Ham have an uplift then Payet is going to be at the centre of it IMO.

Good team, I have 9 of your players and just jumped to 100k this week so no need for major changes.

Thanks - not having Sanchez has hurt me this week. I have a feeling that Lukaku (my captain for this gameweek) is going to blank now to rub salt into the wound.

    Scout picks....

'Burnley have conceded nine goals in their three away matches, indicating that Jose Mourinho’s men should have some joy, even with the shot-stopping brilliance of Tom Heaton between the Clarets’ posts'

Great keeping yesterday, gave me a big boost in SKY and fpl!!
