Two Swansea City old boys combine to see off the Welshman in the Potteries, as thousands of Fantasy managers profit from the continued form of a certain “number ten”. Here’s the Stock Check from the final Gameweek 10 fixture…

On the Rise

Joe Allen
Two assists sealed a third double-figure haul in the space of five Gameweeks as Allen’s flourishing form continued.

Buzzing around the hold-up play of Wilfried Bony, the 5.1 Fantasy Premier League option twice teamed up with the Ivorian to see off Swansea City.

Over 130,000 FPL managers brought Allen in ahead of Gameweek 10 to earn instant rewards. Given his current form and output, they will feel that he fully justifies a fourth midfielder role in our squads. Certainly, as a fifth midfielder in a 3-5-2, Allen looks destined to deliver.

However, it should be noted that Stoke City have played the current bottom three clubs in their last three outings. The trip to West Ham United could prove trickier for the Potters and Allen – particularly with Marko Arnautovic and potentially Xherdan Shaqiri both absent.

Wilfried Bony
Finally, after seven Premier League starts, Bony has sparked to life having ended his goal drought against his former club.

Priced at 7.3, it was hoped that the Ivorian could provide a mid-price option on his arrival at the bet365 stadium. That could now be the case, although the output currently being provided by Allen will undoubtedly dampen enthusiasm for Bony as an attacking option.

In Decline

Xherdan Shaqiri
Over 94,000 acquired the Swiss international off the back of his 15-point return at Hull City, only to see the playmaker limp from the field on 26 minutes. There’s no news as yet on the nature of the injury or a prognosis.

Marko Arnautovic
Perched on the suspension tightrope before Monday night’s encounter, the Austrian was unable to navigate the 90 minutes and, having received his fifth booking, will now miss the Gameweek 11 trip to West Ham.

With just a goal and an assist this season, Arnautovic has been a bitter disappoint after his 11-goal campaign last time out.

Stephen Kingsley
Brought back in at left-back for the Swansea City clean sheet against Watford last weekend, Kingsley was tonight inexplicably relegated to the reserves with Neil Taylor earning a recall.

With Jordi Amat ousted to the bench in Gameweek 9, it appears that we no longer have a 4.1 option available in the Swansea rearguard – perhaps that’s no major loss on the evidence of Monday night.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Talking of Mawson, is Amat a CB? Chance he may be back in as Mawson had a shocker?

Amat is a CB yeah. One to monitor probably - not doing much harm in our teams at 4.1 for now

I think Bradley lucked out putting VDH/Mawson in and getting a CS v Watford. That's a CB combination that looks destined for the Championship.

VdH is good enough for the PL, he just needs a decent run of games and a good partner. Him & Fernandez would be a good partnership

I watched Mawson a lot while playing for Wycombe - a class above L2 but I didnt see Premier League quality. He is a couple of years older, though.

I was really happy when we went to Swansea and came out with Bartley. Pontus has been brilliant as well.
I did not think I would see us look competent defensively but fair play to Monk.

Off topic but I am going to the Ricoh arena on Saturday to watch the four nations and I have to admit to being a very casual Rugby League fan. I basically watch the odd game on Sky and this will be my first live game(s).

who should I be keeping an eye out for? I was hoping to see Tomkins but not in the squad

    Hi guys,
    My team is

    Foster (Jaku)
    Walker Pieters Holebas (Amat, Kingsley)
    Sanchez Hazard Firmino Coutinho Allen
    Aguero Lukaku (Diamonde)
    0.4 ITB

    I am playing a 3-5-2. My issue is two-fold:
    1. I don't have a single playing sub. Who best do your ecomemnd I upgrade one of Amat or KIngsley to?
    2. Is getting Heaton critical? Have never FTd a goalkeeper before (except during wildcards)

    Thanks for your opinion

Not sure who you could upgrade Diamonde, Amat or Kingsley to with .4 in the bank. Might be worth saving your transfer this week and downgrading someone to upgrade your weak links. Starting 11 looks great!

Sanchez (TOT) Mane (WAT) Coutinho (WAT) Gündogan (MID)
Aguero (C) (MID) Wilson (VC) (SUN) Lukaku (che)

Bench: Cech (TOT) Allen (whu) Collins (STK) Kone (bou)

    0FT 0.1ITB

    1. Good to go?

If Collins or Kone look like dropping this week, I'd be tempted to switch out for a hit. Feel like I need to take two or three hits just to sort out defence over the next couple of weeks, but not sure where to take it. Looks like Kingsley and Amat are finished for now as reliable budget options. Would quite like to switch Cech out and get Fuchs or Morgan in with the funds. Started out with Friend, he might be an option in a couple of weeks.

    2. Thoughts on best budget defenders going forward?

I'd really like to hear the thoughts on when it's acceptable to take a big hit, say -12 or more. With Jonty's paying off this week, and the majority here being close to 3 figures, now is probably the best time to get your squad in order.

The fixtures have now shifted so it's mainly FFS Communities defence that needs sorting. I know mine surely does.

    William / Vertonghan / Holebas / Kelly / Amat.

Holebas is probably the only one who may keep his place.

That's what I am thinking. It is definitely just weighing up the risk and seeing if it is worth it.

The thing is I'd rather take a -12 hit after a good week rather than consecutive -4s to get my defence in order.

Anyone saying getting Moses is the same as getting Alonso but a lot worse due to the lack of 3 CS points just have not watched Chelsea play of late. Moses given a lot more freedom to attack and plays further forward since he has got a lot more pacy defender ie azpilicueta playing behind him. Literally makes him a RM most of the time. Alonso is forced to play deeper cause he has Cahill covering him in a much deeper position. Moses much more of a direct threat too. created about 5 chances and has 6 shots the past 4 games. As important as anyone in the side now(Conte loves him and Chelsea fans reckon he is one of the first names on the team sheet now). Going to be great value at 5.5. Also, he and allen perfectly cover each other's tough fixtures till January(no afcon for Moses either so could go on for way longer). Love the guy. I'm taking the punt 🙂

Moses Should not be dismissed as an fpl ption just cause Alonso plays in a similar position is my point.. Plenty on here use that rationale against Moses.

Allen would have to do for BOURN/watf/BURN...then possible swap to Moses/Fer/Redmond in GW 15

That's the plan. Getting Moses now for EVE. Then Allen plays 3 weeks and then Moses gets his chance again when Allen's fixtures stiffen. Good option on my bench and great rotation for 10.5 million. Brillaint. If they remain injury free I may keep that pairing for a while.

MF slots too precious for Moses, he's pretty rubbish

I've slowly learnt how to ignore my preconceived notions about players when it.comes to fpl. Noone would have said Allen would be an fpl option. It's the perfect storm of a suitable position in a suitable formation/system under a suitable manager that brings these players to life and both Allen and Moses are excelling cause of that. Watch the previous 4 Chelsea games and I dare you to find a fault with Moses 🙂

And regards a MF spot.. Ppl are wasting it on Fletcher and other rubbish 4.4ers + a 4th mid. Im Moses and allen instead for those 2 positions

I take your point, but I got Alonso because I wanted a Chelsea defender. It was either him or Luiz. If I wanted a Chelsea midfielder I'd get Hazard.

Again, nothing against Alonso.. When I have a spare transfer for defense he d be the first one I'd.consider. this is just a post about how underrated Moses performances have been under control and why he should now be considered fpl relevant.

Still not sold on Deeney --> Austin. With wally in my side I'm gonna have to wait until pressers to see what Arsene says.

Defence is poor this week so cant afford a luxury move if Theo isn't going to be fit.

    Heaton - Pickford
    Walker - Lovren - Holebas - Baines - Amat
    Firmino - Coutinho - Sanchez - Chadli - Allen
    Lukaku - Aguero - Austin

    A) Take a hit to get Baines out
    B) Play all out attack

Best FT replacement for Son (7.5)? Allen? Chadli? Siggy?

The rest of my midfield is Hazard, Sanchez, Coutinho, Fletcher

I would have voted Allen if Stoke didn't have any injury concerns going into the next GW -- Chadli's got a good run after LEi and to be honest, could very well grab some points this weekend.

        wouldn't*?

I love Walcott but the combination of a little injury and increased competition for his place worries me. In the past it's taken him longer than Wenger lets on to get back into the side after a supposedly minor injury

Other than a CHE defender for their good run for the rest of the year or maybe Spurs (after Toby returns), I wouldn't shift Kos out for any other defender tbh.

That said, if this is the only way to generate funds for Wally > Hazard, I'd pull the trigger.

If it turns out Walcott likely to miss this GW, you should be able to buy him back without loss. But you might regret not having him GW13, but Sanchez can cover you
