Two Swansea City old boys combine to see off the Welshman in the Potteries, as thousands of Fantasy managers profit from the continued form of a certain “number ten”. Here’s the Stock Check from the final Gameweek 10 fixture…

On the Rise

Joe Allen
Two assists sealed a third double-figure haul in the space of five Gameweeks as Allen’s flourishing form continued.

Buzzing around the hold-up play of Wilfried Bony, the 5.1 Fantasy Premier League option twice teamed up with the Ivorian to see off Swansea City.

Over 130,000 FPL managers brought Allen in ahead of Gameweek 10 to earn instant rewards. Given his current form and output, they will feel that he fully justifies a fourth midfielder role in our squads. Certainly, as a fifth midfielder in a 3-5-2, Allen looks destined to deliver.

However, it should be noted that Stoke City have played the current bottom three clubs in their last three outings. The trip to West Ham United could prove trickier for the Potters and Allen – particularly with Marko Arnautovic and potentially Xherdan Shaqiri both absent.

Wilfried Bony
Finally, after seven Premier League starts, Bony has sparked to life having ended his goal drought against his former club.

Priced at 7.3, it was hoped that the Ivorian could provide a mid-price option on his arrival at the bet365 stadium. That could now be the case, although the output currently being provided by Allen will undoubtedly dampen enthusiasm for Bony as an attacking option.

In Decline

Xherdan Shaqiri
Over 94,000 acquired the Swiss international off the back of his 15-point return at Hull City, only to see the playmaker limp from the field on 26 minutes. There’s no news as yet on the nature of the injury or a prognosis.

Marko Arnautovic
Perched on the suspension tightrope before Monday night’s encounter, the Austrian was unable to navigate the 90 minutes and, having received his fifth booking, will now miss the Gameweek 11 trip to West Ham.

With just a goal and an assist this season, Arnautovic has been a bitter disappoint after his 11-goal campaign last time out.

Stephen Kingsley
Brought back in at left-back for the Swansea City clean sheet against Watford last weekend, Kingsley was tonight inexplicably relegated to the reserves with Neil Taylor earning a recall.

With Jordi Amat ousted to the bench in Gameweek 9, it appears that we no longer have a 4.1 option available in the Swansea rearguard – perhaps that’s no major loss on the evidence of Monday night.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

My big fancy is OCEANOGRAPHER at 9/1 - he won the Lexus at Flemington last time out. It looks good form, as the first two pulled 3 lengths clear of Tally - who has won 4 races this year, been placed in 3 other races and only finished unplaced twice in 2016 - so looks a solid yardstick.

I've had a few quid each way on EXCESS KNOWLEDGE as well - he finished 7th in this race last year and one of his trainer's (Gai Waterhouse) had the 1st winner on the card this evening. She was interviewed after the race and basically said he's not without a chance and 100/1 is too big.

In fairness, it's not a race I have a very good record in but I don't think I've been as confident going into this race as I am about OCEANOGRAPHER's chances today.

      You had a bet?

I have him as well & I'm not sure. I could sell him for Coutinho but I already have Firmino & I'm not sure if Coutinho will be rested after the int. break. However he's up vs Watford & he could do well. I could sell him for Hazard but I own Costa so at least I have Chelsea cover. Also Walcott could do well himself & provide returns that match Coutinho or Hazard. Since I own Sanchez as well I'm more inclined to sell Walcott for Coutinho.

With Sunderland officially having the joint-worst record in Premier League history over the first ten games, having your only playing keeper from them would be akin to having Aston Villa defence last year!

I think people were wary of Allen because of Capoue's demise. But I looked at the stats and Allens are far better. He's playing the no.10 role in an in-form team and is cheap, perfect 4th mid

          1. Pierce34
            • 10 Years
            9 years, 5 months ago

I didn't necessarily have any expectations from Allen, I just got him in for Capoue to make some extra cash and then transfer out for a super-cheap midfielder. I might revise the last part of the plan if he keeps going like this though.

Is Bellerin performing to his price tag. At 6.5 I'd expect him to be at least in the top 2 defenders for total points but he isn't. He's also way down in the form index. Of all my premium players he seems to be the player to sell to raise cash.

The 2 trades for free I'll probably do are:
Bellerin & Walcott out - Fuchs & Coutinho in

Walcott is excellent but I have Sanchez & the double Liv, m/f is too hard to resist. Later on either Firmino or Coutinho will become Hazard.

    Foster
    Fuchs, Smith, Holebas
    Sanchez, Firmino, Coutinho, Allen
    Aguero (c), Costa, Lukaku

    Jaku, Capoue, Pieters, Amat

    Thoughts & thanks.

Yep, as I thought. 105.1 TV.

SV is usually taken to mean "sale value" on here = what your squad is worth if you sold all players.

I see. I was just using the terminology on the fpl site. To answer your question it's 102.4 after bringing Fuchs & Coutinho in.

                    1. Ruth_NZ
                      • 11 Years
                      9 years, 5 months ago

Yes, I saw that they call it "squad value" now. No big deal. It used to be called "team value" I think, hence TV.

The reason that sale value is more important is that you won't be keeping many players for the whole season. So what you can sell for is the best measure of how your usable budget has actually grown.

    Got the following team:

    Heaton. Pickford
    Koscielny. Amat. Coleman. Holebas. Smith
    Sanchez. Coutinho. Mane. Capoue. Son
    Aguero. Lukaku. Diomande

    Makes sense to do:
    1. Mane + Son = Hazard + Allen? (-4)
    2. Mane + Son + Coleman = Hazard + Lallana + Pieters (-8)
    3. Hold fire?

Could have gone either way that one. How Ibra blanked is a complete mystery. That shot that hurt Heaton was something else, such power.
Swansea looked terrible maybe Ibra will do it this week

                Have to hope.

I was intending to reverse course if that was indicated. But I can't do that having given everyone else 25 points. So I guess I am committed.

Aguero will stay out of my team till GW16 at the earliest now and probably till after Xmas. Bed made must be lain in. 🙂

GL anyway. Your approach is pretty optimal for a season like this when many premium players are performing very well.

I think you are right, may as well keep him out for a bit, anything could happen and like you say reversing is 25 points and Two chances behind. It was only one week, quite possible Aguero is not out the woods yet. Especially the palace match

It just shows the spread in ranks from the league. More than half the league are in the top 100K which wasn't the case last season at GW10.

Good stuff, top 500K next. The longer you stay in the league, the more likely your rank will improve drastically.

Honestly, surviving in LMS with a 2m+ rank is more impressive than being in the top 100. How is that even possible? Must have exactly the safety score every week.

Any ideas what to do here? GW10 105pts -4 so don't mind taking a hit to sort out weak links.

    0.0itb

    Heaton
    Mustafi Evans Holebas
    Sanchez Walcott* Coutinho Firmino
    Aguero Lukaku Wilson

    Pickford Allen Williams Amat

Would like some Saint but feel Wilson v Sunderland could do well.
So Austin will have to wait.

    Walcott >> Redmond
    Williams >> Fuchs - 4 ?

Would leave cash itb bank for Firmino >> Hazard down the line.

I'd be comfortable playing Allen as a 4th mid so maybe Walcott to a cheaper mid than Redmond. That would also help your Hazard trade with an extra 1m odd.

    Koscielny / Lovren / Walker
    Gundogen / Firmino / Sanchez / Coutinho
    Aguero / Deeney / Lukaku

    Deeney > Austin ??

Currently have Evans and Pieters as my two 4.5 defenders. Evans has been particularly disappointing as I expected a Pulis side to pick up more clean sheets. Any advice on other 4.5s I can swap him for?

So when setting up ML H2H in administration mode I set it as 3 round knock out. Which I thought it would be like a knock out cup.

24 min: There’s a suggestion that Xherdan Shaqiri’s evening is over. He’s signalling to the Stoke bench that he’s struggling with a knock. It might be a foot problem. He was on the receiving end of a whack early on and was hobbling then.
