There’s now little debate required – we need to get Eden Hazard in our squads.

Watching him bewitch the Everton defence, weaving patterns with Diego Costa and a revitalised Pedro was evidence enough. Dive into the numbers, and it’s confirmed.

Seven goals in his last eight matches for club and country. Underneath, Hazard’s vital statistics – particularly his goal threat – are outperforming even his Player of the Year season.

Throw in the fact that he’s the only top bracket midfielder that boasts penalties, plus Chelsea’s irresistible form and an array of Christmas fixtures that scream goals and points and the evidence is overwhelming.

I’m struggling to see any argument against Hazard.

The real debate surrounds how we slice our squads up to make way.

Just days ago I raised the possibility of shedding Alexis Sanchez – the leading FPL points scorer before today – and now, in my squad at least, it rears it’s head once again.

I can retain Sanchez if I lose Walcott but, in doing so, I’m putting faith in Ilkay Gundogan and, also, restricting myself to forever scrimping across my back five.

Walcott is an unreliable Fantasy asset, playing as part of an Arsenal squad rich in attacking options.

Inevitably, he will find himself rotated. By choosing him over Sanchez, I will forever be clenched as the teamsheet is announced, or as the clock hits 70 minutes.

But there is a 3.6 gap between Walcott and Sanchez. Meanwhile, the underlying stats show that, in terms of average goal threat, the former is even outperforming the Chilean.

I look ahead to the fixtures and wonder if I can continue to get by with a restricted budget. If Gundogan can deliver on his promise and if Jose Holebas and Gareth McAuley are enough.

Sacrificing Sanchez will dissolve such concerns. If he frustrates, I will have the funds to replace Walcott, perhaps with a second Liverpool midfielder, while still having the means to upgrade the defence to seize upon Chelsea’s obvious and unparalleled resilience.

Sanchez could very easily end the season as the top scoring FPL asset – although Hazard will likely have a say in that.

But retaining Sanchez restricts the flexibility to react to form and fixtures and, if I keep him now, he’s locked in – unlikely to leave my squad unless stricken by injury.

While he’ll doubtless gain me handsome returns in the meantime, will those points outweigh what can be won with Walcott and the extra 3.6?

It’s an agonising scenario – particularly with Arsenal yet to take the field.

Urged along by a volatile market, like a lot of folk this evening, I’m driven to make changes in the next few hours.

But I know that tomorrow’s evidence will likely provide answers – Walcott’s absence, an ineffectual 60-minute appearance or a steller display would make the decision far easier.

I’m likely to watch prices rise and fall tonight, waiting for more evidence before making what seems a crunch decision.

But one choice is already made – Hazard will be in my lineup for Gameweek 12.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ooo. No! I really like that squad.

      Defence is fine
Midfield also looks very good - especially like the Ozil pick, he seems to be coming on leaps and bounds this season. Only issue with him is it seems Cazorla hampers him. But no Cazorla today so yay 🙂
Forwards ain't the best, but I'd look at Benteke + Wilson to Defoe + Austin

If Holebas picks up his 5th yellow your defence will be in trouble for next game week. Think you need to downgrade Wilson or Redmond, are you planning 3-4-3 or 3-5-2?

You got a lot of money tied up in your 5th mid then. Downgrade a mid and put the cash into your forwards imo.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

Post Hazard 19 pt haul fall out.

So he rose in price last night and two more rises look on the cards. There's tough fixtures ahead though, but from GWK 15 its plain sailing.

Stats, long term fixtures, form and he certainly passes the eye test- what sensational goals they were last night.

Crucially for me I think he may just beat his away hoodoo.

How are you dealing with it?

    1. Already own Hazard and feeling rightly very smug
    2. Getting him in/already got him in for Sanchez and no hit
    3. Spending/already spent hits to get him in now
    4. Waiting for GWK 15 and hoping the tougher teams get the better of him
    5. Ignoring altogether
    6. Ditching Aguero for KDB to free up funds - see We Have Payet's hot topic

I've been using this site for 3 years and the last twelve hours are the craziest I've ever seen it. Minus eights everywhere halfway through a gameweek before an int break is crazy. Like unbelievably crazy. Some major injuries over the next fortnight could see the patient players gain a massive advantage.

I thought that ahead of Southampton. Think he's broken that curse in the new system. Arguably Southampton are better defensively than Man City too.

Not to mention he's also the best player in the league when dribbling at defenders with the ball at his feet.

It's one thing to be a pacey player looking to take advantage on the break.

It's another to make that break and have the pace and control to beat a defender and carve out a clear opportunity.

I can't think of one player who does it better than Hazard in the current league.

Of course I can name a few past MU legends who did it better, but that's another discussion. 😉

Don't get me started my friend. 🙂

Ronaldo and Giggs immediately spring to mind with numerous examples, and that's just scratching the surface. 😉

Not to mention the numerous greats from rival clubs that we all enjoyed watching in awe, even if we would never admit it at the time. 😉

That's why I spend so much time watching MU, CHE, LIV, and ARS

I bought him in for Sterling before the GW, so yes, feeling smug!

Was going Aguero (c) until I read YMA's article Saturday morning and went Hazard. That article is producing well after week - it's now a must-read!!

i see mark's done 3 transfers already to get him in.
Don't think you can wait to GW15 as you could be looking at another .5-.6m to get him in. Sanchez blank today could see big movement this week alone.
Not selling Sterling has hit my options. Plus the extra .4m on Fuchs over Morgan hurts a little.
Can still do a simple -4 involving Sterling and Walcott or Benteke but still not sure about Gundogan. Will watch redmond again this afternoon.

Yeah, I reserved the two transfers for a scenario like this so had to go for it. Time to be brave. As I see it, I've got Hazard and Alonso, plus Firmino and Coutinho - no European distractions and very strong fixtures to come. Can't see too much rotation over Xmas with those four either - too integral to Chelsea/Liverpool.

Sanchez could hurt me but, hopefully, Walcott can go on getting minutes and producing. With the budget balance in my squad now, I can go bolster the defence if I choose to downgrade Defoe and ensure I've three active Xmas subs.

Got Sánchez last night before the price rises. It was a direct swap top Hazard, but I took a hit to bring Alonso in for suspended A. Smith, because I couldn't afford those transfers after the price changes.

Either 2 or 3 for me.
I'd have to lose either Sanchez (FT) or Lukaku (FT + hit) to get Hazard but which, I'll wait until today's games are done (as I'm on a Wally hammy-twinge watch!)

Ditching Sanchez also gives me change to finally upgrade Antonio with a hit (8.3 to spend....Allen?)
...or ditching Lukaku gives me more funds to rid Antonio for Hazard, but then need get in striker up to 6.5, thinking Vokes? - already have Agu & Austin, but then is that is that too light up front?

Darn Int. breaks! Players turning on the form before a 2 week break really forces your hand.

It's closer if you've had him since GW1 but Hazard is cheaper, on pens and set-pieces and gains extra points for goals and clean sheets. If you've neither Hazard or Costa, I think it's far more straightforward.

Was on 4. before yesterday's haul but now everyone get's him in and I need to do the same thing because of price reasons.

I'm looking at Hazard and Friend for Sterling and Koscielny (-4) after today's games.

      Would give me this team:
      Heaton / Pickford
Walker, Holebas, Evans / Friend, Amat
Sanchez, Hazard, Firmino, Allen / Capoue
      Aguero, Lukaku, Austin

No Coutinho is my worry but I think I have covered most of the important players.

Would you lose Costa to get Hazard?

Note that Costa could have got a hattrick easily yesterday, if he didn't let Alonso get his goal and his shots were all well played.

He was looking good and I'd made strategic transfers the previous week to have funds and ponder on getting him in when I could. Last night I swapped him in for Sterling. My mid is now Sanchez, hazard, coutinho, ferminiho, Allen. defence is low cost. Attack is aguero, Austin and Rushford. Will belaying 352 for a while.

Aguero will score goals - but will he score enough goals to outweigh the massive difference in price between him and Costa / Lukaku. I can't see it this season because Costa and Lukaku have no European football - look how much of a difference that made to Leicester last season - you can see the clocks going forward next year and Costa / Lukaku banging them in while Aguero is being rested for the CL.

interesting point of view. It's the safety blanket he offers, the way he plays and the team he plays for he can't help but score. It's effortless, whereas the others are having to make the running in their teams, Lukaku especially. Agree, can see him being rested for the CL, but that is some way away now, and he's got burnley coming up

    McAuley Williams Mustafi Pieters Amat
    Coutinho Firmino Sanchez Redmond Allen
    Lukaku Aguero Defoe

    2 FTs, 0.0 ITB

Currently exploring these options over the international break
    A) Mustafi, Redmond, Defoe --> Friend, Hazard, Anichebe (-4)
    B) Firmino/Coutinho, Redmond --> Hazard, De Roon
    C) Mustafi --> Alonso
    D) Sanchez --> Hazard
    E) Both of C and D (keeping in mind that I would have no Arsenal players)
Or any other options yall feel is better.

Personally I feel these options are a little bit knee jerky but its really getting hard to ignore Chelsea with their current form. I would obviously look to do my transfers later in the international break as much as possible but I want to know what do yall think is the best option for now.

Wait. Sterling is probably nailed on after City blew it yesterday - Pep won't be making that mistake again. Lukaku and Williams have Swansea at home - you can't be transferring them now. Koeman is a pretty determined guy - I don't think he will take anything less than a win and clean sheet against Swansea after yesterday's performance.

A would be good if we knew Cedric would walk back into the team

Cedric is prone to being subbed at around 70 mins as well which may mean a lack of baps

Thumbs up from me on these knee jerk articles. More relevant this year with such volatility in prices. Sadly I couldn't wait for today's games as would have been instantly priced out last night. Taken a -4 to do Smith (suspended) + Sanchez >>> Alonso + Hazard. Gives me this for gwk 12:

    Pickford

    Alonso - McCauley - Pieters

    Coutinho - Lallana - Sterling - Hazard

    Aguero - Costa - Lukaku

    (Foster - Amat - Kingsley - Leko)

Seeing the lineups yesterday the temptation was Sterling >>> Gundogan, but Sterling needed as rest so I'm trusting Pep to bring him right back in next gwk. Happy playing McCauley each week with good fixtures and goal threat. Lallana has been shunned last couple of weeks, but he's a regular starter in an awesome team with awesome fixtures.

No Aguero HAS to be viable this season. Sure he's still the most likely to get a 20pter any given week BUT

    1) Hazard was Ronaldo-esque last night
    2) Sanchez oop for title chasing Arsenal
    3) KDB seems as important for city as kun
    4)Liverpool mids full of goals
    5)Lukaku and Costa both performing

So many explosive captain options performing that the extra funds that no kun provides could be vital.
The key difference between this and previous "no kun" debates is that even when kun gets his inevitable 16pt+ haul there's more than half a chance that so will one of the above.
Last season the debate was comical because Leicester and Alli meant there was no where to spend the money, seasons before could have kun and saurez and hazard all in same team.
    This the season everyone

      I like this as a front 8:

Coutinho - Walcott - De Bruyne - Hazard - Allen
      Lukaku - Costa - Austin

+1 - I have the same agero-less strategy. There are many viable options all around. There is no fun when everyone have him and captains him..

I think more and more are coming round to this way of thinkingRhino, the 'essential' status is being eroded by the week when funds look a major obstacle this season, managers can't afford to take passengers right now, is Kun in this bracket right now?
      He's dam close imho.

All points make sense, but without a WC it is really hard to spread the money around

All valid points but ultimately going without Aguero is a big risk, so it comes down to whether or not you are willing to take such a big risk with your FPL season.

I personally like to take my risks with budget differentials, not with my big hitters. Your call
