Harry Kane has shown perfect timing.

On the day that saw Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku frustrate 40% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Spurs striker stepped up to deliver a first double-figure haul and underline his undeniable potential as a game-changer.

Five goals in his last four Premier League starts, albeit broken up by a spell on the sidelines, indicates that Kane is riding a flow of form that can now see him break up the established template in attack.

A prolific Jermain Defoe and Charlie Austin’s improving fixtures will likely ensure that we retain a mid-price option as a third striker – dismissing the idea of squeezing Kane alongside our present heavy hitters.

That will put the heat on Aguero and Lukaku.

The latter went into Gameweek 12 having already seen his increase in ownership slow following his Stamford Bridge blank. Today’s 2-point return, with 11% backing him with the armband, will no doubt spark sales and, in all likelihood, a first decline in the Belgian’s ownership since Gameweek 3.

It’s difficult to gain confidence from Everton’s schedule.

A trip to a resilient Southampton follows for Gameweek 13, with Goodison Park encounters with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool to follow in the next four.

Lukaku is capable of scoring points in those matches, but can he keep pace with a resurgent Kane?

Despite those doubts, the pressure on Aguero is perhaps even more intense given his price tag, the doubt generated by Guardiola’s tinkering and the seemingly relentless stream of points being delivered by Kevin De Bruyne.

We were ready to fall at Aguero’s feet following his emphatic Hawthorns haul but, two Gameweeks on, the doubts are creeping back.

He let down 29% of FPL managers with the captaincy today and that, against the backdrop of Kane’s brace, will ruffle feathers.

The fee demanded by the Argentine guarantees that we will constantly be fidgeting – he almost has to deliver a goal a game and assure us of consistent returns in order to cement the captaincy and earn his keep.

Turf Moor offers a foreboding venue for Aguero to restore confidence next weekend. Following that, Guardiola’s side will take on Chelsea – Aguero will likely have to earn his opportunities against the Blues’ newly robust defence.

Meanwhile, Kane offers home fixtures with Swansea City, Hull City and Burnley to follow the Gameweek 13 trip to Stamford Bridge.

It’s a scenario that looks perfectly staged.

We bank our transfers, give Lukaku or Aguero next weekend’s run-out and then take action in Gameweek 14 should they falter.

Those trading Aguero can then distribute the significant funds spared – perhaps to consider De Bruyne as a reassuringly expensive midfield option.

Regardless of our current thinking – the masses will now be circling Kane.

With an ownership of just 6%, he provides a potential route back for those managers treading water – a genuinely explosive differential that can be trusted with the armband for that trio of tempting White Hart Lane fixtures.

Those trailing mini-leagues surely have to consider the move, but it’s an unwelcome development for those streaking ahead and settled with a midfield and forward line template. Kane can be a disruptive force that can punish those that sit still.

The bandwagon is moving, and if Costa is the next to slip off the suspension tightrope at the Riverside Stadium, we will need to brace ourselves for some major acceleration.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

          If Amat is playing and Capoue doesn't get injured I'm not going to worry about my bench TOO much to be honest.

          Will play the same strategy as normal and hope for the best. My front 7 will always play and then my defence right now looks fairly nailed:

          Alonso, Lovren, Brunt, Holebas, Amat

              I got rid of Mustafi this week but that was purely to find Hazard+Kane

              If you have an attack you're happy with I'd keep Koscileny. Better fixtures than Alonso over next couple and then after City/Everton (a), Arsenal's fixtures are ridiculous.

      Southampton barely left their own half. Lovren is a poor defender but not a bad FPL pick cos of attacking points.Looked good as a Saint because of the defenders around him and very good def mids.

        lovren does't normally get attacking points thought, it will only come from clean sheets 99% of the time. something like one goal in 62 premier league games before palace.

    Is KDB essential if you're going without Kun from GW14-19?

    (CHE, lei, WAT, ARS, hul, liv)

    Chelsea, Arsenal, & Pool are the tricky ones. Leicester, Watford, Hull are 3 easy fixtures but factor in the chances of rotation, Pep is more likely rest players in the easier games rather than the tougher ones.

    I also think we are overlooking 1 midfielder for the Xmas Period. Payet!
    His fixtures from GW16-21!

    (BUR, HUL, swa, lei, MUN, CRY)

    Appreciate your thoughts!

      Nope. Don't go near Payet until Carroll is back though.

      Tbh, of the City fixtures only Chelsea is a tough attacking fixture imo, and possibly Arsenal. They really aren't bad at all

        I think Bilic said Carrol should be okay in 2 weeks. That's why I'm looking at Payet.

        City's fixtures don't look bad but you never know who Pep is going start with. I'm sure KDB & Kun wont play all matches whereas someone like Payet is definitely nailed and also has much easier fixtures. Kane's fixtures also look much better than Kun.

    Thinking benteke and capoue to anichebe and zaha to raise funds for defence...would see me move to 352.

    Heaton pickford
    Williams Evans holebas Pieters amat
    Hazard firmino coutinho sanchez capoue
    Kun Benteke Austin

    Thanks

      Id save.. see if giroud can nail a spot .. maybe next week u could do lukaku to giroud and upgrade your defence only if u comfortable with 2 arsenal

        If giroud gets a spot I will probably get him in and downgrade Sanchez

      Defence needs upgrade. You only rely on offence for points. I would downgrade an attacker (Either Lukaku now or one of Liverpool mids after this GW) and get at least one premium defender. Lukaku -> Defoe would give you funds to upgrade two defenders

        Cheers lads yeah lukaku to Defoe is tempting for sure

      Can probably keep for Boro (a) but after that I'd consider getting rid. Better value elsewhere

    Did Capoue to Redmond a few weeks ago and Capoue has actually came out on top. Hate that muppet. Not sure what to do with Redmond now, not looking dangerous at all. Though Saints' fixtures are lovely. Austin is the man to have from them though.

      I finally got rid of Redmond after 12 weeks. Feels good.

    Really tempted to do

    Shaqiri + Kun--> Ozil + Kane for -4 after today matches...Or just bring in Siggy for Shaq for free and ignore Ars and Tot players?

    What are your plans for the Xmas / new year gameweeks?

    With 4 teams playing on 1st Jan and the next day a new gameweek of 12 teams playing.

    It's essentially 30 games in ten days between. 3 gameweeks.

    It could make or break some seasons.

      Can't really plan for it, other than not buying rotation risks i think. Look at completely nailed on players with a good run of fixtures in that period. Payet a prime example

    A or B and why? Thanks

    Heaton / Pickford
    Kosclieny / Vertoghen / Holebas / Evans / Amat
    Sanchez / Manè / Coutinho / Allen / Capoue
    Aguero / Lukaku / Austin

    A. Allen + Lukaku --> Sanchez + Anichebe for a -4?
    B. Lukaku + Vertonghen ---> Kane + VVD?
    C. Any suggestions welcome

    Which one of these transfers should I prioritise? If I do A, it rules out both B & C.

    A. Gundogan -> Siggy

    B. Lukaku -> Kane

    C. Lukaku -> Costa

    D. Gundogan -> Walcott

    E. Coleman -> Alonso

    I can do A & E over 2 weeks for free

    Hmmmm. Siggy has caught my eye as well, brilliant run of fixtures till GW20 (just Spuds away the bad fixture). Siggy, Wally or Mata ... Hmmmm 😕
