Harry Kane has shown perfect timing.

On the day that saw Sergio Aguero and Romelu Lukaku frustrate 40% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Spurs striker stepped up to deliver a first double-figure haul and underline his undeniable potential as a game-changer.

Five goals in his last four Premier League starts, albeit broken up by a spell on the sidelines, indicates that Kane is riding a flow of form that can now see him break up the established template in attack.

A prolific Jermain Defoe and Charlie Austin’s improving fixtures will likely ensure that we retain a mid-price option as a third striker – dismissing the idea of squeezing Kane alongside our present heavy hitters.

That will put the heat on Aguero and Lukaku.

The latter went into Gameweek 12 having already seen his increase in ownership slow following his Stamford Bridge blank. Today’s 2-point return, with 11% backing him with the armband, will no doubt spark sales and, in all likelihood, a first decline in the Belgian’s ownership since Gameweek 3.

It’s difficult to gain confidence from Everton’s schedule.

A trip to a resilient Southampton follows for Gameweek 13, with Goodison Park encounters with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool to follow in the next four.

Lukaku is capable of scoring points in those matches, but can he keep pace with a resurgent Kane?

Despite those doubts, the pressure on Aguero is perhaps even more intense given his price tag, the doubt generated by Guardiola’s tinkering and the seemingly relentless stream of points being delivered by Kevin De Bruyne.

We were ready to fall at Aguero’s feet following his emphatic Hawthorns haul but, two Gameweeks on, the doubts are creeping back.

He let down 29% of FPL managers with the captaincy today and that, against the backdrop of Kane’s brace, will ruffle feathers.

The fee demanded by the Argentine guarantees that we will constantly be fidgeting – he almost has to deliver a goal a game and assure us of consistent returns in order to cement the captaincy and earn his keep.

Turf Moor offers a foreboding venue for Aguero to restore confidence next weekend. Following that, Guardiola’s side will take on Chelsea – Aguero will likely have to earn his opportunities against the Blues’ newly robust defence.

Meanwhile, Kane offers home fixtures with Swansea City, Hull City and Burnley to follow the Gameweek 13 trip to Stamford Bridge.

It’s a scenario that looks perfectly staged.

We bank our transfers, give Lukaku or Aguero next weekend’s run-out and then take action in Gameweek 14 should they falter.

Those trading Aguero can then distribute the significant funds spared – perhaps to consider De Bruyne as a reassuringly expensive midfield option.

Regardless of our current thinking – the masses will now be circling Kane.

With an ownership of just 6%, he provides a potential route back for those managers treading water – a genuinely explosive differential that can be trusted with the armband for that trio of tempting White Hart Lane fixtures.

Those trailing mini-leagues surely have to consider the move, but it’s an unwelcome development for those streaking ahead and settled with a midfield and forward line template. Kane can be a disruptive force that can punish those that sit still.

The bandwagon is moving, and if Costa is the next to slip off the suspension tightrope at the Riverside Stadium, we will need to brace ourselves for some major acceleration.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

How many chances has Benteke missed this year. I'm starting to wonder if Pardew should select Jonathan

    Just some advice:

Walcott is still the best route into the arsenal attack who's fixtures are much better than people believe at the moment. Sanchez looks hot and cold, especially with Giroud hitting form, and Ramsey/The Ox still don't pose enough of a threat to his starting position on the RW. Ozil still might kick on so with Giroud in the team so get him in the watchlist.

Kane has shown he is FPL gold over the past few seasons. Get him in as soon as possible, regardless of the Chelsea game next. Spurs are top top team and he loves a derby.

Christ Brunt could well be the best defender in the league if West Brom pick up form at both ends of the pitch.

Nyom at £4.3 is good cover if Brunt stays in midfield and doesn't take his role at LB

That's only have the story both weeks have hits. This week Bellerin to Evans ( or maybe Nyom) GW 14 also Coleman to Rose.

Still worth the hits if West Brom keep their usual clean sheets. Spurs defence is the best to own in the league apart from Chelsea.

'Best route' - Not the option with the most point potential but with value he's easily the best cover

Kane has 16 goals in 17 London derbies

Brunt 'could' be the best. Could be.

How can he be the best cover if he doesn't have the best point potential?

You save near enough £4mil with Walcott. He has to be the best cover when you can use those funds elsewhere and still have goals/assists potential in the Arsenal team.

A goal a game against London teams. Irrelevant it is not.

I doubt you could say any of the Hull defenders could be the best. Brunt can get clean sheets, plays in an attacking role and has a great record of assists. His point ceiling is one of the highest out of all FPL defenders. If he starts, he could be brilliant.

Good defenders but non playing OOP. Valencia should get assists soon but still yet to get off the mark. Toby will manage two goals max with a third of the season gone. Kosc similar. I'd say Bellerin and Alonso have similar goal and assist potential to Brunt if they all start. Brunt is £1mil cheaper and isn't out for 3 weeks like Bellerin.

In before Walcott gets dropped because Ramsey is back and Giroud pushes Sanchez to the right wing

Why would Walcott get dropped? Ramsey would have to play RW when he has no form to go on in the league whilst Walcott has gathered goals and assists.

Well, it is certainly not a guaranteed blank as derbies are somewhat unpredictable, and the player being sold seems to be on a team that is struggling mightily of late. 50-50, I'd make the move that includes the better team and the right price direction.

Totally valid point you have. It is a gut thing based on Everton form and opponent. Spurs have a very tough matchup, too, but I'm going with their momentum and the grudge match vs. Everton feeble attack.

Maybe they did not bench Capoue?

I'm hoping there has been secret Amat and Fernandez intense partnership training whilst Mawson and vdH have covered for them.

First I was delighted to see that Amat played and might get 2 and have 11 out.
Was really happy when CS was on the cards
Really delighted to see Coleman goal then realized it took away CS. Still Coleman goal got me 3 extra I think. Swings and roundabouts of this game 🙂

As an owner, I'm very glad he is back in the squad, great value with those fixtures

Actually tilted by Wilf Zaha, 4 assists in his last 4, comes up against swa, SOT, hul in his next three, only £5.3m, bargain. (Also enables Lukaku to Kane)

International Breaks are rubbish. Everyone agrees.

This is what they should do to fix this:

    1. Stop international friendlies

    2. Have the qualifiers at the end of the season. This would mean that the season would finish earlier and they would have time to play the qualifiers like a mini "tournament" and still be able to give the players a break before pre-season starts up.

I could email FIFA and UEFA - they can sort it out between them.

What about FA cup Final CL Final World Cup etc

They would have the qualifiers the year before the World Cup (or Euros). FA Cup stays as is. The qualifiers start after that (like the World Cup / Euros).

    Kneejerked it.

    Lukaku + CWilson > Kane + Anichebe.

Nope. That was the last straw for me. Kane looks the better option long term

Kane rocketing up @ 100.2% to rise. Which player is being sacrificed to get Kane? Must be Lukaku based on below:

5 most transferred in = Anichebe, Defoe, Capoue, Hazard, Kane
5 most transferred out = Allen, Bellerin, Gundogan, Lukaku, Sterling

However with Anichebe & Defoe being the top 2 maybe Lukaku is going for them. Good to see Capoue making a comeback. As a Allen owner I'm keeping as he'll miss Watford away but be gtg for Burnley home in gw 14 & by then he should be back in the no. 10 role.

I'm keeping, got a bal cleared off the line as well today, was a bit unlucky not to score but still looks dangerous. Maybe not enough for a 13M player but with Costa still 1 card away from suspension, Ibra not in form, Kane didn't have his best game either (a bit lucky on those points) so no reason to sell for me

He may not be performing but it's Kun at the end of the day.
