And so the power shifts once again.

I can barely remember witnessing such upheaval: where we’ve had to re-consider where our big-money is spent and switch our sights, not only due to form, but simply availability.

We started the season coveting Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Then Diego Costa emerged, followed swiftly by Eden Hazard as Chelsea blossomed. Now Harry Kane, with seven goals in five, becomes a priority.

While these players battle for recognition in our squads, Sergio Aguero was considered by most as a mainstay: a factor that required little consideration.

That theory wavered back in Gameweek 3 but today’s events may have changed it for good.

Aguero had not served a suspension until this season. Now he is set to miss at least seven weeks of this campaign before the turn of the year. Few, if any, could have anticipated that.

Hours after the bombshell at the Etihad, Alexis Sanchez then provided his own explosion.

We always knew the dangers: deployed up front by Arsene Wenger, he has always been part of the heavy-hitter debate.

But, with heads turned by Chelsea’s faultless form and the promise from Eden Hazard, some, including this Fantasy manager, chose to lose Sanchez’ special talent, keeping Aguero locked into our attacks.

Now, with the City striker being ejected from squads throughout the land, the sacrifices required to gain the likes of Hazard, Costa and Marcos Alonso – all so alluring with Chelsea’s form and fixtures – no longer apply.

When I showed Sanchez the exit ahead of Gameweek 12, opting to sell Aguero was something I pondered, but quickly dismissed.

Today’s events punished that particular decision. They also force us re-examine the established thinking.

We are so set on Aguero. His place is so cemented in Fantasy Football folkore, the prospect of progressing through a season, or even a period of Gameweeks without him almost seems unthinkable.

But while a saintly Costa is scoring goals and avoiding the booking that will see him serve a one-match ban, we’ve seen Aguero inexplicably become an unreliable hothead.

We can’t begin to fathom how those roles have been reversed. We can only react to what we’ve now been dealt.

While those without Sanchez are denied the convenience of carrying out a like-for-like swap for Aguero, even with the cost of an additional transfer, it will likely prove a popular route.

Acquiring Sanchez no longer comes packaged with such sacrifice now that Aguero is out of the equation, his millions available to us.

In Gameweek 4 we formed plans to sell a suspended Aguero and bring him back two weeks later. This time around the landscape may have changed.

As of today, it seems likely that few will be forgoing Sanchez for Aguero should that decision ever arise again.

Although it’s almost folly to make such predictions in a season that refuses to allow us to settle in our thinking.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Still tossing between Sanchez and Costa or Ibra and Hazard...

Complicating factor being that Sanchez was rumoured to be slightly injured in the warmup (I know it didn't affect him!), and he plays midweek presumably. Costa obviously also has the injury concern and 4YC issue....

Hate making decisions this early given the uncertainty..... What to do!

I'm looking for excuses to solve my complete confusion when I have no idea what to do and have doubts about either move when it involves Mane out and Mane plays West Ham next week and I want Ibra but not against Spurs, but I don't want to get Costa in and then see him banned but then Costa and Sanchez will probably double rise this week and .....10 other arguments

TLDR and intentionally poor grammar: I have no bloody clue what to do.

Brought him in primarily to fund a Sanchez buy-back today (who I replaced with Hazard 2 weeks ago - oops), but yes, think he will score well for his bracket (sub 7m) over next month. Other alternatives are Austin / Benteke / Defoe of course, but couldn't afford them, so was an easy decision based on his past performance in Aguero's first suspension and the chance of facing an out of form Watford + Hull this month.

Just did Aguero, Walcott, Stones -> Costa, Sanchez, Cedric for -8. Uncomfortable with how knee-jerky it is and I've pretty much got the template but for the first time this season I'm quite happy with how my team looks.

I’m considering something similar. I have Costa, so I did Agüero to Kane. Now I’m considering Sigurdsson and Capoue/Allen to Sánchez and de Roon. Would you, even though I got Sigurdsson for Swanseas upcoming games?

      1. Hyperion
        • 14 Years

I was strongly considering doing Allen -> Siggy and keeping Walcott so I'd really not be wanting to get rid of Siggy if I had him.

          Thanks for the comment!

          With this team,

          Heaton / Foster
          Alonso / Clyne / Cédric / Holebas / Evans
          Hazard / Firmino / Sigurdsson / Allen / Capoue
          Kane / Costa / Benteke
          and £3.6 in the bank,

would you just forget about Sánchez? Or try to gey him in by other means?

          1. Hyperion
            • 14 Years
            9 years, 3 months ago

Yeah it's difficult to see how you would get him without losing one of Siggy, Firmino and Hazard. You could maybe lose Hazard since you have Costa but Hazard could outscore Sanchez with his fixtures. Or you could do Allen to Walcott to cover Arsenal and hope he gets somewhere near to Sanchez's points. I just took him out so I'm sure he'll score against Stoke! This season is painful!

            1. Mick J
              • 10 Years
              9 years, 3 months ago

Thanks! I don’t want to lose Firmino or Hazard, so then it looks like Sigurdsson is the one that needs to go. I could downgrade Benteke as well, but I’m £0.1 short of Anichebe, so I don’t think I’ll go that route.

There’s also the team value to consider. Sánchez will surely rise £0.3 the coming week, while Sigurdsson will probably stay where he is.

After a bit of advice kind people. Thinking of a -4 hit:
    Allen out - Sanchez in
For my other trade I can go Aguero to either:
    (a) Austin or
    (b) Iheanacho or
    (c) Anichebe

Austin - Soton don't seem to be scoring much lately & he gets subbed off
Iheanacho - risky as MCI could play KDB/Sterling as false nine but he has an excellent strike-rate
Anichebe - Is he playing on the wing? On form lately. I can rotate him with Phillips.

    Current team:
    Foster, Jaku
    Alonso, Cedric, Holebas, Pieters, Amat
    Hazard, Firmino, Siggy, Phillips, Allen
    Aguero, Costa, Kane

    Thoughts & thanks.

    1. Mick J
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

With Sánchez in for Allen, you’ll have a great team. I guess you cannot afford doing Agüero to Benteke or Defoe, so then Austin looks to be the obvious choice.

I’m considering doing Sigurdsson and Allen/Capoue to Sánchez and de Roon for a minus 8 (!), despite of Swansea’s favourable upcoming fixtures. Would you?

      1. white lightning
        • 12 Years

I'd do it for free as Sanchez is superior to Siggy but Siggy has Sunderland at home so I'd expect a high score from him. Thanks mate.

Thanks! I’m not expecting Sánchez to outscore Sigurdsson by eight points next round. It would be more of a long-term transfer with the team value factor taken into account.

Go with your gut mate. I took a -8 this week. Was going to do Aguero & Hazard out to Austin & Sanchez for a -16 but didn't. With Sanchez's hat trick & Aguero's -1 it would of paid off.

      Williams Evans Pieters Friend Amat
Sanchez Firmino Pedro Siggy de Roon
      Aguero Kane Austin

      1 FT, 1.6 itb

Aguero to Costa and leave it at that? Had Costa earlier in the season but got rid recently, big mistake.

Should I ditch Pedro as well or give him more time?

Yaya has been charged with drink driving. I wouldn't have had him down as a drinker...Surprised at that.

He might have had one drink, you don't know.

That still qualifies you as a drinker.

He did. That's why man of the match gets a thing instead of a bottle isn't it.

As with many, seems he picks and chooses when and what suits him.

This week looked awful on paper for me. Bad away fixtures all round, no alexis or Kane the stand out captains. And so it was. I'm in one of those fortnightly cycles alternating awesome and horrid fixtures. Next week is a peach

Having got alonso, is a switch to 4-3-3 absurd? Need a sub 6.4 midfielder in order to get sanchez and not liking the options too much.

There is nothing below around 7.2m in midfield. I'm having Siggy as my 4th mid.

          Sanchez Hazard Firmino Siggy

        wildcard activated.

any suggestions on how I can fit Alonso in??

        Grant, Pickford
        Matip, Vertonghen, Cedric, (Ake, Browning)
Walcott, Hazard, Sanchez, Firmino (De Roon)
        Costa, Kane, Nacho

Just tried Wally to Siggy but had Wally since day 1 so -5 short!
