Regrets come hand-in-hand with Fantasy Football – if you get through the season without one, you’re either extremely fortunate or you just don’t care enough. Either way, you’re unlikely to be reading this.

Most of us of come to terms with them, have learnt to ride them out and plough on regardless but, even I’ve got to admit, Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 stung a bit.

Thankfully, with Sergio Aguero harbouring his own regrets, my path to sheepishly welcome Sanchez back into the fold is signposted rather clearly.

The Sanchez wounds and the Aguero fall-out dominate this week’s ScoutCast, which also marks a debut for moderator and long-time community member AZ. He steps in with Granville tangled in political red tape to join Jonty, Andy and myself for a lengthy and lively episode.

We gripe about the volatile market, quiver in fear at the idea of the “Titan teams” and, of course, preview the weekend with a scattering of statistics, speculation and pure guesswork.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Wednesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link or the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Austin out worth a hit? Fletcher 1st sub. If so, who is the best replacement?

    Origi
    Ihenacho
    Defoe
    Benteke
    Someone else
    ?

    Already on a -4 hit
    (a) play Phillips v Chelsea or
    (b) Austin to Iheanacho for a -8 hit

    Thoughts & thanks.

Austin > Iheanacho (-4) yay or nay?????

    Would leave me with this...

    Pickford
    Rose - McAuley - Holebas
    Alexis - Hazard - Walcott - Fer
    Kane - Costa - Iheanacho

    Subs: Foster, Nyom, Allen, Kingsley

Realistically Nyom would come in for a single point tops.

I'm sure Demi has posted this already
Charlie has a shoulder injury and we will see this,” said the Saints boss.

“I don’t know how many times he stay out but it’s important for us.

“I don’t know but he cannot play for the next game of course.

“He was in the dressing room. Like all the players who are injured, we will see this tomorrow.

“I don’t know how many times he stay out, we will see this, but it’s important now to work with all the players, with Shane (Long), (Jay) Rodriguez, Dusan (Tadic), (Sofiane) Boufal, all the players.

“It’s an injury tonight but I think we need a solution and we will see for the next game.”

    -8 Austin>Nacho for this team?

    C-Sanchez Hazard Firmino Can
    Kane Anichebe Nacho

I may be in the minority here, but not confident with Nacho and his gametime - false 9 is a solution Pep has chosen earlier this season. And another FT/hit after Kun is back also lessens the appeal

    on a WC—best keeper combo?

Pickford has one of the spots.

Looking at de Gea, Lloris, Heaton, Valdes for the other.

Not seeing much love for the 'premium' priced keepers. de Gea could be a great shout as a rotation free choice

I always avoid putting too much cash in the gk, don't believe it gives much value. How about Pickford & Valdes? Using Pickford/Grant myself

Cheap GKs are doing the job imo. I'd go with Heaton/Pickford if you can stretch. Valdes is a decent 4.5 if not, or Grant (not sure how far away Butland is though).

De Gez gets my vote, and is the way I'll be going in 2 gameweeks time providing nothing else crops up.

I think he's worth it, nailed, United won't be this pants forever, some cleanies will come, possibly lots - he's arguably the only sure route to them too.

When DDG has a dodgy fixture (and there are only 5 or 6 left) he rotates pretty much perfectly with Pickford right to the end of the season too.

A lot of flack gets said about premium keepers, they worked for me last season - I see it like upgrading a defender to a premium one, often for less outlay.

Can anyone shed any light on Carroll's chances of starting this week? And how likely he is to play most matches in the foreseeable future?

With those fixtures I could see him be a fun punt alternative to Nacho and could be good value at only 6.1m.

    Much appreciated.

If he comes through 60, yes. Bilic desperately needs him to score in the next cruicial games. Personally I can't trust Andy, he is not far from Sturridge regarding injuries...

Even if he should get injured again, the "cost" of transferring him out wouldn't be higher than the inevitable selling of Nacho in 4 weeks.

Sanchez is a player who needs maybe 2 or 3 hits to get in. On top of that, people are just taking hits left, right and centre generally.

    I have 2 questions:

    1) By not taking hits, how much rank will I gain when every man and his dog in front of me is doing a -8 or more?

    2) You have 3 free transfers in the space of 7 days once GW15 starts. Why is everyone being so impatient when they could do a mini WC by a week on Sunday?

Right....but it's no different than if the game weeks are spread out. Number of transfers isn't increased

The free transfers are coming thick and fast and mistakes can be quickly fixed. Plus the shorter gaps between GWs will lessen the impact of prices rises. For me, it's significant to know I could have 3 new players in place for no hits by a week on Saturday... rather than waiting 21 or 28 days.

Price rises is true but other than that it's all the same regardless of number of days.

I took a hit to get Sanchez for price reasons and now Austin has got injured so he's gone too. If I want everyone GWS for the free transfers I've potentially lost out on good Iheancho points.

You're making it sound as though no one is thinking these hits through and are just doing it for the sake of it

Look at the last few pages of comments. Hits everywhere. Not much thought.

A lone voice of prudence was needed!

Don't think that's true. Hits are being made because of an injury to a player who we were starting to worry about minutes for already.

Some nice options to replace him with so a hit could be well worthwhile

Maybe the reckless tone of the comments is people overcompensating to mask their nervousness at losing hard earned, precious points.

Sorry mate, but you are missing the point I think.

Personally I don't think the limited number of days will have a huge effect on price rises either. Surely people will be making the same amount of (early) transfers bar a few casuals...

Surely 2 or 3 days between GWs will make a difference to prices than, say, 14 days between GWs during an international break?

Of course it will have some effect, but can't see it having a huge impact.

Even if it does, I personally don't believe this should sway you not taking hits if you believe it will be worth it points wise - no matter how many days are between GWs.

Shorter gaps won't necessarily lessen the impact of price rises. Most of the transfer action happens at the beginning and end of the week anyway

Not sure if the frequency of game weeks should have anything to do with whether a hit is a good decision or not.

You just need to try and predict whether the player you bring in scores enough to cover the hit - whether that is in 3 or 7 days really shouldn't be a factor.

Surprised more people are going for Nacho over Origi. I suppose whilst he is a cheap route into City points, I reckon Origi can match him (if you minus the 8 it will take to put him and take him back out again) and has the added advantage of possibly staying in the team for a while (till Couts is back and then whilst Mane is away at the AFCON).

I only worry about longtermness of Iheanacho, Origi could secure himself a spot and become an option up to mid January, Iheanacho goes straight out after 4 games, so it's hard to reason a hit to bring him in 🙁

Not as much. AOA is the most useless chip of the three. It can even end up costing you points.

AOA should be saved for a week where a) you only have 2 playing defenders or b) for a week where only 2 defenders have a good game and all of your front 8 have good games imo.
